I play Furret for locking setter Pokémon in the National Pokédex
Furret @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Frisk
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Nature (Spe+, SpA-)
- Trick
- Tidy-Up
- U-Turn
- Return/Body Slam/Shadow Claw
any physical attack move based on your other Pokémon
Begin
(1) Use the "Frisk" ability to identify the opponent's held item;
(2) Our goodest boi is faster, you're sure that the opponent would use a stat move, and the held items are exchangeable?
(2.1) If yes, then use "Trick" to lock the opponent --> to step (3)
(2.2) If no, then use U-turn to pivot --> end
(3) Use Tidy-Up to boost stat
(4) Attack till you win or pivot on threats
End
Plus:
This strategy is good against a setter like Ribombee, Ferrothorn, or Skarmory. Lock their hazard-setting move, use some "Tidy-Up" moves, and attack them. Use "Trick" to disturb a combo that relies on held items like Pyukumuku or Snorlax with "Recycle"; Arboliva and Alolan-Exeggutor with "Harvest". It also works well to lock stat-up moves like "Belly Drum", "Sword Dance", or "Calm Mind" as long as our boi is faster on the first turn.
Minus:
The Z Crystal and Mega Stone cannot be exchanged. Some abilities like Sticky Hold prevent Pokémon from losing their held item. Our Furret needs to be faster to lock the opponent (which is fine because only some will be faster than a Jolly Max Spe Furret with Choice Scarf). U need to predict the opponent's move, and yes, sometimes it will not work out well
