If you have a good competitive moveset for Bastiodon, post an answer below and upvote the best ones. Movesets for any of its pre-evolutions can also be shared on this thread.

Be sure to include full set details in your post, e.g. items, abilities, natures and EVs. Some explanation, including the intended game mode for your set, is also appreciated. Access the full list of guidelines here.

Bastiodon Pokédex and learnset for reference.

a water type will find this weak
Kind of funny that 3 out of 8 answers have protect, especially when bastiodon can be an impenetrable force
Well, Bastiodon is a staller, so its good to have the damage on toxic increase... also, Bastiodon has two x4 weaknesses...

This is the most annoying Bastiodon I've ever battled:

Bastiodon (M) @ Leftovers

Trait: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SDef
Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Metal Burst
- Protect
- Stealth Rock
- Roar

Bastiodon the boss
Bastiodon @ Leftovers/Chesto Berry

Careful nature

Ability Sturdy

EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD

  • Toxic
  • Fire Blast
  • Protect/Rest
  • Metal Burst

LOL!
Toxic is stalling and works well with the nice bulk.
Fire Blast is to try to get steel types out of there, and actually does some damage to Ferroythorn and Forretress if you decide to use it in OU.
Protect helps stall, while Rest is nice with the bulk and this can really piss an opponent off.
Metal burst is good on Bastiodon generally, but it does good damage when the opponent attacks and works well because Bastiodon is slow.

Here's a good gen IV moveset for the mighty Bastiodon:

  • Toxic (standard staller move)
  • Iron Head* (my particular Basty had impish nature so his attack was vastly 'better' than his sp attack, making me prioritise physical attacks)
  • Rest (nothing's more annoying than whittling a tank down, only to see it return to full health)
  • Sleep Talk (don't want to be sitting on your thumbs letting your opponent get 2 free shots in)

*Decent alternative attacking moves are Avalanche, Flash Cannon, Metal Burst, Earthquake, Flamethrower... basically it's all down to the individual Bastiodon/team as to which move you think will complement best.

I like this set:

Toxic-self explanatory
Metal Burst-great for shooting damage back at the opposition
Taunt-great tanking move and works great with Metal Burst
Earthquake/Stone Edge/Iron Head-just an attack when/if you need it. I prefer EQ over the STAB moves personally, because Stone Edge has low PP and unreliable accuracy and Bastiodon is meant to last a long time (just keep it away from Fighting, Ground, and Water attacks) and Iron Head doesn't have good coverage.

Support-
Stealth Rock
Toxic
Protect
Iron Head

Multi-battle partner (Gen 5)-
Wide Guard
Toxic
Protect/Taunt
Earthquake

Annoyer-I recently thought of this set and plan to try it out myself. Theoretically it could work.
Toxic
Swagger
Protect/Metal Burst/Iron Defense
Iron Head

Bastiodon (M) @ Quick Claw

Modest nature
Modest(+SP.Atk, -Atk)
-Stonedge
-Earthquake
-Thunderbolt
-Avalanche

Bastiodon is thought of as a wall but
when you add coverage and stab moves to
him with a quick claw he can dish out some
damage and with his insane defence stats he
tanks hits as well

Bastiodon (M) @ Leftovers
Ability:Sturdy
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -Sp. Atk)

  • Toxic
  • Metal Burst/Iron Head
  • Rock Slide/Stone Edge
  • Rest

This is an awesome moveset for Bastiodon I think.
Toxic. It's obvious. Put your enemy on a timer.
Metal Burst is just my preference, you can use Iron head but I like that Metal Burst deals double the damage you took. Just think of it as a superior version of Bide!
Rock Slide and Stone edge are both good STAB moves, I just like Rock Slide more.
Finally, if Bastiodon is taking too much damage, just use rest.
You can also use either Sleep Talk or Protect instead of Rock Slide/Stone Edge if you want more stalling moves.

Bastiodon with leftovers

Ability is sturdy

nature is impish

Ev spread 252 hp/ 252 special def./ and 4 in defence

Moveset:
Toxic
Stealth rock/protect
Rest
and double team

If you get a good first entry opponent free double teams, if I know my opponent has a fighting or ground move I switch to my dragonite which is also tanky build and moveset they synergize effectively.

My Bastiodon is not really your typical Toxic-Staller, so here is my Bastiodon moveset.
Bastiodon (M) @ Figy Berry
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 Def / 252 SDef / 4 Atk
Nature: Brave (+Atk, -Spe)
Counter (Helps with those Physical-Fighters + Sturdy)
Stone Edge (STAB + Good Power)
Metal Burst (Helps with Special-Fighters + Sturdy)
Stomping Tantrum (If the opponent Sets-Up and you try to Counter/Metal Burst, this does Double Damage.)

Note: Bold words are suggested things. Bold and Italic words are non-optional and heavily suggested things.

Defensive Wall/Multi Battle Partner
Bastiodon @Sitrus Berry/Leftovers
Nature: Gentle/Impish
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 4 Defense, 252 Sp. Defense, 252 HP

Iron Defense/Toxic: The former is for upgrading its already outstanding Defense, while the latter is a normal stalling and defensive move

Protect/Wide Guard: For critical situations. The latter protects you and your teammate from Surf, Rock Slide and others

Ancient Power/Rock Slide: STAB, the former's Omni Boost helps a lot on defenses, while the latter helps with some flinching and average damage

Flash Cannon/Metal Burst: STAB, the former, when used in a double battle may lower Sp. Defense for teammate to finish, while the latter can be used to counter the opposing Pokémon's attack and making the enemy switch in to another Pokémon

Hope this helped! Comment if I made any mistakes so I can fix them.
