Vespiquen
Vespiquen @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 Def / 252 SpD / 6 HP/Atk/SpA
Bold / Impish Nature
- Defend Order
- Heal Order
- Toxic
- Protect / Attack Order / Hidden Power [Ground]

Protect(HP EVs) or Attack-order(Attack EVs) or Hidden-power(Ground)(S.Attack EVs)

Defend-order makes you very bulky after a couple of uses making this bug hard to take down without a Rock type move. Heal-order is reliable healing. Toxic is status. Protect is for awesome poison-stalling, it even helps with Pressure-stalling, Attack-order would be for Physical STAB while Hidden-power(Ground) would be Steel and Poison type coverage. The main problem Vespiquen has is that it has terrible typing for a wall, you are going to have to watch out for Rock types, Stone-edge is your biggest issue as it has high critical chance and criticals ignore your stat ups, if you come across a Pokemon with Stone-edge either get out of their or try to Pressure+Protect stall them into running out of Stone-edge PP and hope they miss between turns(switching is better though).

Despite being the queen of bulky bees and the best honey provider, Vespiquen was always ridiculed due to her Bug/Flying Type that left her with a x4 Stealth Rock weakness along with her not having a wide movepool. Because of this, Vespiquen would retreat somewhere far away, causing Pokemon to forget she existed. After spending 5 generations of constant reminders of not being good, Vespiquen decided that enough was enough, and decided to make an appearance in Gen 9 NU Alpha to prove to other Pokemon she can actually do something.

Gen 9 NU Defense Utility/Pivot

Vespiquen @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Pressure
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Impish Nature
- Spikes
- Toxic
- Roost
- U-turn

All of those years of Vespiquen hiding weren't for nothing. Vespiquen learned how to shape and manipulate her honey to get back at all of the Pokemon who bullied her. Vespiquen shaped some honey into boots and hardened them so Vespiquen can have some boots called Heavy-Duty Boots won't feel the pain of Stealth Rock damaging her.(Don't ask how that is even possible. That information is classified.) Vespiquen also gained the ability to harden her honey that hurts grounded Pokemon switching in, allowing Vespiquen to add the move Spikes to her movepool. Vespiquen also discovered that she can make her usual good honey smell so bad it badly poisons opposing Pokemon whenever she throws it. This technique is called Toxic. Since Vespiquen would always fly for some time and then land somewhere, she could use Roost to recover HP. Once Vespiquen decided she had enough of torturing Pokemon, or realized she is facing Pokemon such as Oricorio, Copperajah, and Skuntank, who aren't bothered by the hardened and/or bad smelling honey, she would use U-turn to switch out and bring in one of her teammates that are conviced Vespiquen does has some use after all. The EV spread allows Vespiquen to take hits from bullies who like to use physical attacks so she can laugh at their attempts of trying to deal enough damage to Vespiquen. Due to Vespiquen hiding to make others forgetting she existed, she learned how to Terastalize into a Ghost-type to laugh at the Pokemon using Rapid Spin trying to clear away the hardened honey spikes.

This is truely an unfortunate Pokemon. One of the sturdiest RU Pokemon cursed with a 4x weakness to Rock. But there is hope!

Vespiquen @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Impish Nature
- Roost
- Substitute
- Toxic
- Attack Order

This set helps to keep her alive as long as possible. Substitute is a great move to hide behind. Roost takes the edge off Rock type moves. Toxic helps the rest of the team in unimaginable ways, well ot really. And Attack Order is her strongest STAB move that will keep her from becoming taunt bait.

Vespiquen @ Flying Gem
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 Atk / 129 Def / 129 SpD
Brave / Adamant Nature
- Attack Order
- Pursuit / U-Turn
- Hone Claws / Roost
- Acrobatics

Brave nature functions well in Trick Room, although Adamant nature won't really make much of a difference. Attack Order is a powerful STAB move and has a high critical hit ratio, Roost for healing (can also be substituted with Heal Order, to each their own) or Hone Claws to power up, Acrobatics is AMAZING with the Flying Gem boost, and after it has been used base power raises to 165. You can either use Pursuit or U-Turn, both are equally as good. U-Turn allows you to switch out and - because of Vespiquen's low speed - you will almost always be getting switch advantage. I prefer to use Pursuit because a lot of Psychic types will switch out on a Vespiquen, so you can damage them that way.

Vespiquen @ Leftovers
Ability: Unnerve
EVs: 80 HP / 215 Def / 215 SpD
Sassy / Relaxed Nature
- Defend Order / Protect
- Roost / Heal Order
- Toxic
- Destiny Bond / Protect

This one is more of a staller, also functioning well in Trick Room. It has more use with Sassy Nature, majority of the moves it is weak to are special attacks. After a good few Defend Orders, its stats are raised quite nicely and you can just Roost/Heal Order (again, to each their own) away the damage. Toxic is, obviously, to deal recursive damage to the foe at the end of each turn. It's a matter of choice between Destiny Bond and Protect. Protect is if you want to make Vespiquen last a bit longer as a staller. Although I prefer running Destiny Bond - in a Trick Room you can give your foe a nice little surprise before they take you out.

Bulky Band (Gen 8)

Vespiquen (F) @ Choice Band
Ability: Unnerve
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def
Adamant Nature
- Attack Order
- Revenge
- U-turn
- Toxic Spikes

Vespiquen is, unfortunately, a god-awful Pokemon. It has one of the worst defensive typings in the entire game (weak to common types such as Electric, Fire, Ice, Flying, and worst of all, a 4x weakness to Rock, meaning it also has a 4x weakness to Stealth Rock), yet it also has good defensive stats. If it had better abilities, a buffed-up speed stat, and just a buff in general to be honest, it would be a great Pokemon. But for now, this, and other defensive sets, are probably the best you'll ever be able to go for (for now at least). So here we go. Banded, Adamant Nature, and probably the only 3 physical moves that can be added to this set. Attack Order is Vespiquen's best physical STAB move, which also has a high critical hit chance and a good BP of 90. Revenge is the only other physical move out there, and is good for Vespiquen because it's slow as heck. If it gets attacked, then Revenge has a BP of 120, which is basically just a slow Close Combat without the defense/sp. def drops. U-turn is a safe way to slowly pivot out, allowing Vespiquen to make sure that the Pokemon being switched in is in healthy condition. And finally, Vespiquen has access to Toxic Spikes, and it's really the only other move I could think of for this set, as Vespiquen's movepool is pretty limited. If it at least had Aerial Ace, I would put it in. Anyways, Unnerve is the ability for this set to cut through berries, and let's be real, Pressure is only useful for PP-stalling Pokemon. Let's hope this fella gets a buff sometime.

STALLER
Vespiquen@Chesto Berry
ABILITY: Pressure
NATURE: Bold (+Def -Atk)
IVs: 252 Def/252 SpDef/4 HP

Defend Order
Toxic
Protect
Rest

This set allows Vespiquen to boost up its stats with Defend Order and badly poison the opponent. Protect so it can stall turns, and Rest with Chesto Berry to heal it straight back up to full.

SWEEPER
Vespiquen@Assault Vest
ABILITY: Pressure
NATURE: Modest
IVs: 252 SpAtk/126 Def/252 SpDef

Bug Buzz
Air Slash
Power Gem
Sludge Bomb

Bug Buzz and Air Slash are STAB. Power Gem takes care of its Fire, Ice and Flying weaknesses. Too bad it can't learn Earth Power, otherwise it could take care of its Rock and Electric weaknesses. Sludge Bomb was the best I could do for coverage.

what are you going to do if you're up against a steel type with that first set
The second set's EV spread exceeds the EV limit of 508/510.

Gen 8 ZU

Vespiquen (F) @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- U-turn
- Toxic / Aromatherapy
- Roost
- Defog

Basically a defensively pivot set for Gen 8. Heavy-Duty Boots helps with its 4x weakness to Stealth Rock. U-Turn is for pivoting. Toxic is to poison opposing Pokémon. You can use Aromatherapy instead to heal teammates that are inflicted with status conditions. Roost is for healing. Defog clears entry hazards that are on your side.
