Meta-PokéBase Q&A

While everyone has the ability to submit a question on the database, I feel no need to be able to answer my own questions since I wouldn’t ask the question if I knew the answer for it. While this is only I minor concern of mine, it still confuses me why this is an option.

Thanks!

There are a few reasons:

  1. For some questions that don't follow our usual rules, e.g. 'What is a good moveset for...?', it's quite feasible you might want to submit your own answers. The options stays to accommodate that.
  2. On occasion, if you happen to find the answer to your question before anyone else, you can answer your own post. You can't get points from selecting your own answer as best, though.
  3. On the Meta and RMT sections, the question and answer format is relaxed a lot. There could be any number of scenario where it would be fitting to post a response to your own thread.

Should this feature ever cause an issue, we're obviously equipped to deal with it. If you ever think people are abusing the feature to get points or whatnot, feel free to submit a flag or notify us otherwise.

Like this thread for example:https://pokemondb.net/pokebase/meta/64460/thread-where-did-you-get-your-username-from. That would be a question where you could answer yourself.
