Frosmoth @ Occa Berry
Ability: Ice Scales
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Quiver Dance
- Bug Buzz
- Ice Beam
- Hurricane / Weather Ball / Giga Drain

This set appreciates rain, but it's not mandatory. In rain, after a Quiver Dance, Ice Scales, and Occa Berry, Frosmoth can easily take fire moves. It can also use Weather Ball to take out fire types, or 100% accurate Hurricanes in rain, or Giga Drain if you're not using rain.

Definitely the best set for a sweeper Frosmoth. Weather Ball in Rain with this hits like a truck and the coverage is so nice.

Doubles tank/support Frosmoth! It has been doing wonders for me. It anihilates threats like Torkoal and Heat Wave Zard, Tyranitar´s Rock Slide, etc, despite being able to tank very well overall. you have access to moves that cripple Sp Atk and Speed of both enemies, apart of Feather Dance in case you feel like you really need to nulify a certain threat. It still 2 hit KOs Dragapults with icy wind without Sp Atk investments and can survive a flamethrower from it. It gets access to Tailwind to settup for a sweeper and Helping Hand to empower, all of these moves are great depending on the situation. I run mine usually with a Gmax Lapras that covers Rock and Fire types with Max Geyser and sets Rain and Aurora Veil.

Rest because Lapras is still pretty tanky and if you set Rain with Max Geyser, your ability Hydration will cure it from the sleep, then you´ll have thunder for coverage, surf for Stab since Frosmoth can tank it well or just protect itself with wide guard and Freeze-Dry to deal with water types like Gastrodon and Ice Stab.

Gen 8 PU

Frosmoth @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Ice Scales
EVs: 248 HP / 164 SpD / 96 Spe
Calm Nature
- Ice Beam
- U-turn / Quiver Dance
- Rest
- Sleep Talk

This set is intended to check most of the special wallbreakers and sweepers in the tier. Ice Beam is STAB. U-Turn is for pivoting. Rest is for healing. Sleep Talk is so you won't be vulnerable while you're asleep. Quiver Dance can be used over U-Turn if you want to setup and boost your stats. 248 HP is to help with your bulk. 96 Speed EVs allow you to outspeed max speed Modest Alolan Exeggutor. The rest of the EVs go to special defense.

Teammates

You'll definitely want Pokémon who can check fire and rock types, so Pokémon such as Toxicroak and Jellicent are greatly appreciated. Pokémon who can't take special hits that well can appreciate Frosmoth being able to take those hits for them. Pokemon such as Regirock, Basculin, Centiskorch, etc can help Frosmoth as they can check Pokémon such as Aggron and Archeops, who check ice types like Frosmoth.

I don't have the slightest idea what you're talking about. No, I did not copy this from Smogon.

...ok, I almost did, but I am opting to run Air Slash here instead of Hurricane because better accuracy, a 30% flinch chance, and I plan to have help from Quiver Dance already anyway. Giga Drain is also available to help fend off Rock types, should they give you an issue.

Focus Sash is also an acceptable item option if you're planning on using this early, but given that it has a 4x susceptability to Stealth Rock, I think Smogon is actually smart for recommending these new boots here.

Maybe a niche check to the common Rillaboom seen in VGC. Wide Guard to protect from Rock Slide and other spread moves. Bug Buzz and Ice Beam for STAB. Struggle Bug for spread damage and special attack lowering.

Set explanation:
Terastalizing will probably make this mon a lot more viable then it has been. HDB is mandatory so you don't lose HP from hazards like Stealth Rock. Tera Water makes you resist Fire and removes your weakness to Rock. Quiver Dance is what makes this thing viable, boosting your speed, special attack, and special defense. Tera Blast becomes Water, hitting things like Garganacl, non Water Absorb Clodsire, Tyrabitar, Skeledirge, and Ting-Lu. Skeledirge gets obliterated with no SpD investment and no boost: 252 SpA Tera Water Frosmoth Tera Blast vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Skeledirge: 432-512 (104.8 - 124.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO. Clodsire, even with Unaware is scared of this thing: 252 SpA Tera Water Frosmoth Tera Blast vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Clodsire: 248-292 (53.4 - 62.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery. Tanky minecraft guy gets destroyed. +1 252 SpA Tera Water Frosmoth Tera Blast vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Garganacl: 392-464 (97 - 114.8%) -- 81.3% chance to OHKO. Sanditar gets destroyed too: 252 SpA Tera Water Frosmoth Tera Blast vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Tyranitar in Sand: 248-292 (61.3 - 72.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery. For Ting Lu, I don't know how to get the calc to take Tablets of Ruin into account, but judging by what it can do to freaking Clodsire, even with Tablets of Ruin it would be around a 2HKO. Ice Beam is STAB and hits a lot of things, there isn't much explaining to do. Giga Drain gives you healing, which allows to to get a benefit from picking off weakened mons and just stay alive longer. However, Energy Ball can be used to 2HKO Dondozo, which otherwise is a big wall to this, even with Giga Drain. In order to kill with Drain, you need hazards or a 30.5 chance for a 2HKO. 252 SpA Frosmoth Giga Drain vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Unaware Dondozo: 226-268 (44.8 - 53.1%) -- 30.5% chance to 2HKO VS 252 SpA Frosmoth Energy Ball vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Unaware Dondozo: 272-320 (53.9 - 63.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO.

Counters:
Iron Hands tanks everything you can throw at it with AV and kills with Thunder Punch. You barely do anything to it even with 1+ boost. To make matters worse, Fake Out can chip you. +1 252 SpA Tera Water Frosmoth Tera Blast vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Assault Vest Iron Hands: 234-276 (45.7 - 53.9%) -- 45.3% chance to 2HKO.
Even if it is not running a bully set, Hands is just bulky in general and won't be 1 shot without chip damage. +1 252 SpA Tera Water Frosmoth Tera Blast vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Iron Hands: 350-412 (68.3 - 80.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO.
Priority users destroy this thing. Meowscarada, Kingambit, Dragonite, Breloom, Ceruledge, Lokix, and Scizor when non Tera will do a lot of damage to you with their respective priority, if not 1 shotting.
Fast mons or scared mons can outspeed and kill. Well, it is a slow mon even with +1 Speed, not super surprising.
Toxapex walls you hard. No other thing needs to be said. +1 252 SpA Tera Water Frosmoth Energy Ball vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Toxapex: 106-125 (34.8 - 41.1%) -- guaranteed 3HKO. This isn't Lefties SpD Pex, this is 4 EVs in SpD Pex.

Conclusion: This thing will probably find a home in a lower tier, but with Terastalizing, it will be much better than it has been. Also why did I do this analysis on a freaking moth lol

Tera Ground is an option to be able to beat Steel- and Fire-types btw. Other than that, good set!

Frosmoth has a lot of weaknesses, but having quiver dance is always a must with this mon. I was thinking possible Blizzard but only if you plan to run this on a snow weather team. But ice beam is OP anyways so why not?

Gen 9 NU Quiver Dance

Frosmoth @ Heavy-Duty Boots

Well, Frosmoth dropped to NU, and NU doesn't have Copperajah or much Steel-types, so here is a Quiver Dance set that takes advantage of that. This set is made to lure in Blissey so you can use it as setup fodder. Should you have Frosmoth out vs a Pokemon weak to it and they have a Blissey in their team, they're going to want to send it in, predicting your attack. From there, Frosmoth should use Substitute to avoid getting paralyzed by Thunder Wave. After hiding behind a Substitute, use Tera Ghost to become immune to Blissey's Seismic Toss. Congratulations, unless the Blissey has Shadow Ball, it can no longer touch Frosmoth, allowing you to setup vs Blissey. Quiver Dance boosting Frosmoth's Special Attack, Special Defense, and Speed stats make this icy moth a scary threat.(This is bascially Substitute Quiver Dance Oricorio-Sensu, but on a Tera Ghost Frosmoth) Ice Beam is a powerful Ice STAB. Giga Drain is used to let Frosmoth recover HP. If you have enough Quiver Dance boosts and use Substitute, this set can even 1v1 Tera Steel Appletun. Heavy-Duty Boots is used to prevent Frosmoth from being chipped by Stealth Rock pre-Tera. This set should be used on Snow teams, as Abomasnow can setup Snow to have an Aurora Veil up, which gives Frosmoth more chances to setup. The defense boost from Snow can help Frosmoth setup if it hasn't used its Tera yet.

Snomrade (Frosmoth) @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Ice Scales
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Nature: Timid
IVs: 0 Atk
- Quiver Dance
- Ice Beam / Blizzard
- Air Slash / Hurricane
- Giga Drain

This set works well when switching in on a special attacker. Quiver Dance once or twice and then you're good to go. Just watch out for Steel types or other special walls!
Ice beam/Blizzard for STAB coverage, choose accuracy or power.
Air Slash/Hurricane for coverage and countering Fighting or Fire types. Again choose accuracy+flinch or power+confusion.
Giga Drain for life steal and countering Rock types.

I like using Ice STAB over Bug Buzz, but if you need Dark and Psychic counters, then use Bug Buzz instead of Ice STAB or Giga Drain.

No, just no. Don't run weakness policy, you NEED heavy duty boots or Stealth Rock wil obliterate you. Feather dance is pointless, run air slash/hurricane.

Bug Buzz is a fairly powerful bug type move that has a chance of lowering the oppoment's Special Defense while Struggle Bug is better in double battles as it hits adjacent foes and also lowers the special Attack of a foe, Quiver Dance is a good setup to raise it's Specials and Speed, Giga Drain covers rock and also recovers it's health, Dazzling Gleam hits both targets in double battles which is useful, Air Slash have a chance to Flinch, which gives a free turn, Ice Beam have a chance to Freeze and has STAB, U-turn is a nice move although Frostmoth has terrible Attack, but since U-turn does not have decreased priority, it would be useful.

Bright Powder for a 10% chance for 100% accuracy moves to miss like Flamethrower or Fire Lash, Ice Scales to make Snom's Special Defense less terrible, Bug Buzz being the best move Snom can learn as Snom's Attack is also terrible, Icy Wind lowers the oppoment's speed, which can be useful sometimes, Protect against nasty Throat Choppers to stall up, and Attract because most Pokemon will be male, so this Snom is a female to get lucky and the target will get infatuated.

A Trick Room set. Life Orb makes your attacks do more damage. Ice Scales allows it to switch into special attacks, assuming they aren't too powerful. The EVs maximize damage, and focus in defense. The IVs are so it outspeeds things in Trick Room. Quiet Nature maximizes attack power while lowering speed, which is useful to outspeed things in Trick Room. Bug Buzz is STAB. Ice Beam is STAB. Blizzard is stronger STAB, but has shaky accuracy. U-Turn allows it to pivot out of bad matchups. The last slot is coverage. Giga Drain can heal, and is for rock types. Hurricane does a lot of damage, but has shaky accuracy. Dazzling Gleam is coverage. Air Slash is more accurate flying coverage. Calm Mind can be used to set up and sweep.

Why 0 Atk IVs if U-Turn is used?
U-Turn is normally used for momentum and not damage. You don't really want to use U-Turn for damage when you have Bug Buzz.
That makes sense, but what’s the point of wasting 31 IVs that could’ve done at least some chip damage on switch? U-turn may not be focused on damage, but I don’t see a downside to the added damage.
Foul Play, confusion damage etc are reduced.

Do you ever try something that you think will do bad, but ends up being good? Well, that is the case with Specially Defensive Defog Frosmoth.

Yes, Defog Frosmoth is actually a thing in Gen 9 NU, and is quite good due to Ice Scales, Heavy-Duty Boots, and Tera. This set allows you to check special wallbreakers. Ice Beam is used for an Ice STAB. Giga Drain is used to deal super effective damage to Water-types such as Vaporeon, Bruxish, and Clawitzer. Stun Spore is used to slow down opposing Pokemon, while U-turn can be used instead to pivot out of bad matchups. Defog is used to clear entry hazards from the field. Tera Water is used to give Frosmoth a nice defensive typing. Tera Ground allows Frosmoth to resist Rock-moves.
