If you have a good competitive moveset for Hypno, post an answer below and upvote the best ones. Movesets for any of its pre-evolutions can also be shared on this thread.

Be sure to include full set details in your post, e.g. items, abilities, natures and EVs. Some explanation, including the intended game mode for your set, is also appreciated. Access the full list of guidelines here.

Hypno Pokédex and learnset for reference.

Hypno @ Wide Lens
Ability: Insomnia
EVs: 158 HP / 100 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hypnosis
- Dream Eater
- Barrier
- Nightmare / Focus Blast

Hypnosis puts the opponent to sleep, obviously. Dream Eater is STAB and healing. Barrier gives him high Defense. Nightmare is for doing more damage in sleep while Focus Blast is there if you are afraid of Dark/Steel types.

Gen V

Hypno (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Insomnia
EVs: 64 HP / 72 Atk / 252 SpD / 120 Spe
Careful Nature
- Psycho Cut
- Drain Punch
- Meditate
- Thunder Wave

The rarer physical Hypno. Meditate might not be amazing considering the current state of the metagame, but it gets the job done, especially with help from Life Orb. Speed isn't so much a problem with Thunder Wave. Psycho Cut provides STAB, while Drain Punch provides type coverage, mainly against Steel and Dark. It also heals you, helpful for restoring the health lost from Life Orb. Insomnia stops you from being put to Sleep, which is always annoying. Your EVs provide you with some bulk and a decent enough Attack to use for Meditate to boost. The Speed EVs should allow you to outspeed the foe when you use Thunder Wave, and for some of the slower Pokemon who plague Poison and Steel typing.

Hypno (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Insomnia
EVs: 160 HP / 252 Def / 92 SpA / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
- Signal Beam
- Psyshock
- Hidden Power [Ground]
- Calm Mind

Straight to the point.

Signal Beam covers Dark and other Psychics.

Hidden Power [Ground] takes out Fire, Rock, Electric, Poison, and Steel types, even though Poison is already covered by Psyshock, there are moments where Poison Pokemon like Muk excel in Defense over Special Defense.

Psyshock For special walls and STAB.

Calm Mind bulks up his Special Defense higher, and lets him hit harder.

Hypno @ Leftovers
Ability: Insomnia
EV: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Spe
Adamant / Jolly Nature
- Belly Drum
- Wish
- Zen Headbutt / Psycho Cut
- Drain Punch

Belly Drum: the fun part of the set
Wish: Use this on the turn right before drumming
Zen Headbutt / Psycho Cut: reliable STAB
Drain Punch: Continuously heal back HP while you sweep

This set turns Hypno into a bulky set up sweeper and is able to catch the opponent off guard as Belly Drum is uncommon, especially on Hypno. Max investment in Attack lets you heal back more HP from Drain Punch. The Wish + Belly Drum combo is unique to only Hypno I think and lets him heal back HP before the opponent realizes it.

Gen 7 ZU

Hypno @ Psychium Z
Ability: Forewarn / Insomnia
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Zen Headbutt
- Drain Punch / Ice Punch
- Belly Drum
- Hypnosis

Zen Headbutt is STAB. Drain Punch is healing and covers Dark types, Ice Punch is coverage. Belly Drum makes Hypno pretty threatening if given a chance to set up. Hypnosis can put something to sleep, paving the way for a sweep. Z-Hypnosis raises Hypno's Speed, so even if it does miss, it still is useful.

Hypno @ Leftovers
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Belly Drum
- Baton Pass
- Drain Punch
- Psycho Cut / Zen Headbutt

Surprisingly, the only Pokemon (as of right now) who can baton pass Belly Drum is Hypno, Clefable, and Clefairy. Clefable is a Special Attacker and I want Belly Drum to be useful on the Baton Passer, so I instead went for Hypno. Belly Drum and Baton Passes use is pretty self explanatory, Drain Punch is for coverage, and to heal the damage you took from Belly Drum. Psycho Cut/Zen Headbutt is STAB, choose whichever one you prefer.

Edit: So, I didn't realize this until now but Belly Drum and Baton Pass are incompatible, so I had to completely change the set, sorry for the mess-up!

Hypno @ Blunder Policy
Ability: Insomnia
EVs: 252 Atk / 8 SpD / 248 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Belly Drum
- Dynamic Punch
- Zen Headbutt / Psycho Cut
- Fire Punch

So, the biggest difference in this set is it's Blunder Policy. Setup Belly Drum, then use Dynamic Punch. If it misses, you'll gain the speed boost for Blunder Policy. Fire Punch is coverage for your bug type weakness, and Zen Headbutt is your STAB. If you want 100% accuracy, but lower Base Power, then go for Psycho Cut.

Double/triple battle

Hypno (M) @ Light Clay
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 160 HP / 212 Def / 136 SpD
Sassy Nature

- Flatter / Swagger
- Trick Room

Team support. Dual Screens, Trick Room, and Flatter or Swagger for Own Tempo Pokemon and the like.

Hypno @ Choice Specs
Ability: Forewarn
EVs: 140 HP / 252 Def / 116 SpD
Bold Nature
- Trick
- Swagger
- Foul Play
- Psychic

Hypno can be a great lead for your team. Trick your opponent to lock them into a move and they will most likely switch. Swagger to power up Foul Play and Psychic is just for STAB.

Gen 7 ZU

Hypno @ Psychium Z
Ability: Forewarn / Insomnia
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hypnosis
- Nasty Plot
- Psychic
- Shadow Ball / Focus Blast / Dazzling Gleam

Hypnosis puts things to sleep and raises Speed when powered up into Z-Hypnosis. Nasty Plot boosts Hypno's power, and Hypno gets to set up for free if it puts an opponent to sleep. Psychic is STAB. Shadow Ball hits Ghosts, Focus Blast hits Dark types, Dazzling Gleam does less damage to Dark types but is more accurate.

Hypno @ Blunder policy
Ability: Insomnia
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpD
Tera type: Fairy
Modest Nature
- Hypnosis
- Draining kiss
- Hex
- Nasty plot

Hypnosis will put opponent's Pokemon to sleep after which you can use nasty plot to raise your special attack to +2. Then you can choose if you want to use hex which does double damage because target is sleeping or draining kiss with tera fairy which will deal a lot of damage and also heal you. In case your hypnosis miss, even better you will recieve boost in your speed which can make hypno powerful sweeper, its quite bulky + draining kiss will keep you alive.
