How are there two Legendary Pokémon of the same species?

Like: How are there two Articunos, Zapdoses and Moltreses? It's supposed to have only one?

Who said there's only supposed to be one? Plenty of minor legendaries have multiple. You usually only *find* one.

I like to think that people in the pokemon world see legendaries as "endangered species," meaning there are still several left, but just a few. They are also probably creatures people surrounded their religions with, which could also be how they got their legendary status. But there are still some legendary pokemon that are indeed the only ones of their kind, mainly the more supernatural ones (like Dialga, Palkia, Giratina, etc.). Then there's pokemon like Mewtwo (made in a lab, once). Mythical pokemon are kind of the same way too (like how there are multiple shaymin, but only one Arceus).

It's completely possible to have two legendaries of the same species!!

Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres: Brandon in the Hoenn Battle Frontier uses one of each bird, and one of each can also be found nesting in Kanto during the same time period. Three years later, one of each can be found in both Kanto (HG/SS) and Sinnoh. One of each can be found in the Kalos region, and — here’s the big one! — Dana in the Battle Chateau uses one of each. Meaning that at least two members of each of the three legendary bird species lives in Kalos alone.

The existence of regional forms with the Legendary birds Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres implies that a trio separate from Kanto existed in an isolated peripheral population (in this case Galar) and hence formed a new species.

In Pokémon Platinum, the player is able to catch Zapdos, and Dahlia has a Zapdos as well.

In Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver, the player is able to catch Entei and Zapdos, while Darach also has an Entei and Dahlia also has a Zapdos.

In Pokémon X and Y, the player is able to catch either Articuno, Zapdos, or Moltres, while Dana has the complete trio of Legendary birds.

You can also find the legendary birds just FLYING AROUND Kanto in Let’s Go Pikachu/Eevee after you catch each of them from there respective locations. Meaning you can have a whole team of Moltres without actually transferring some over from Go, or other Let’s Go’s.

Correct! You forgot that you can also find the legendary birds just FLYING AROUND Kanto in Let’s Go Pikachu/Eevee after you catch each of them from there respective locations. Meaning you can have a whole team of Moltres without actually transferring some over from Go, or other Let’s Go’s.

It was explicitly stated in-game that there were three Silvally created (and possibly a fourth, if the one in Galar is not one of the ones from Alola).
