I recently played Pokemon Sword and when I use fire type moves on fairy types it says it’s super effective. According to the current facts it’s not supposed to be super effective but just regular effective.

What were the fairy type mons that you used the fire type move against?
Changing the title to "Why is Fire super effective against Fairy in Sword" might be better.
There is literally a glitch where in my game fire type is super effective against pure fairy types. Has no one else noticed this?
Are you sure that you aren't using a fire type move on one of the Pokemon listed in the answer? If not, can you give us some kind of video of it happening?
Is it *any* Fairy type, or is it just certain ones?  Have you tried testing this at all?

The reality is that Fire type is not Super Effective against Fairy.  But Fire does resist Fairy, resulting in Not Very Effective messages when a Fire type is attacked by a Fairy type.  The 2 types have no further interactions.

Fire is super effective against Grass, Steel, and Bug. It is not super effective against Fairy types. Which means the Pokemon you used the fire move on had to be a Grass/Fairy, Bug/Fairy, Steel/Fairy, or Ice/Fairy type. The Pokemon you used the Fire move on could also have been affected by Forest's Curse.

Grass/Fairy types:

Whimsicott
Cottonee
Tapu Bulu
Morelull
Shiinotic

Bug/Fairy types:

Cutiefly
Ribombee

Steel/Fairy types:

Mawile
Zacian-Crowned
Klefki
Magearna

Ice/Fairy types:

Alolan Ninetales

U forget about ice types
There is also Forest's Curse which could result in other Pokemon being weak to fire

There is no way a Fire type move would hit a Fairy type Pokemon super effectively untill their second typing was weak to fire.
In Sword

Cutiefly
Ribombee
Klefki
Cottonee
Whimsicott
Mawile
Morelull
Shiinotic
Magearna
Zacian-Crowned

Fairy types which are weak to Fire in Pokemon Sword are the Pokemons listed above.
They have Steel,Bug,Grass as their second typing which makes them weak to Fire

If thePokemon you encountered is from the above list then it might be due the Pokemons secondary typing if not then you may be Wrong

@Fizz the OP said that every Fairy type in his/her Sword copy are weak to Fire type. This might be that his/her copy is glitched.
Uhh, if you have a typing that resists fire and a typing that is weak to fire, then you will have a neutral effect.
@Hatenna No, it's not a glitch. If it were a glitch there would be documentation for it. Asker didn't even mention the Pokemon they're talking about -- please stop speculating about glitches.
@Maximum Length The answer says nothing to the contrary.

Selecting the other answer because this one is missing a Pokemon.
The answer says "There is no way a Fire type move would hit a Fairy type Pokemon super effectively untill their second typing was weak to fire." A Fairy type cannot be weak to fire unless it is forest cursed
@Maximum Length Fairy does not resist Fire type attacks, its the other way round. The "order" (dunno a better word to use) of attack here is Fire-->Fairy/? (?=possible dual typing) and not anything else.
