If you have a good competitive moveset for Gallade, post an answer below and upvote the best ones. Movesets for any of its pre-evolutions can also be shared on this thread.

Be sure to include full set details in your post, e.g. items, abilties, natures and EVs. Some detail, including the intended game mode for your set, is also appreciated. Access the full list of guidelines here.

Gallade Pokédex and learnset for reference.

Gallade has an extra-ordinary attack stat and its speed stat is relatively impressive... so I suggest going all-out attack on the opponent with it... my preferable move-set would be :
1. Night slash (the gost type is done for)
2. Psycho cut
3. Leaf blade
4. Ice punch
if with this move set... gallade is given a "quick claw" or "Scope leance" to hold.. well that would be a nightmare for the opponent !!!
This set of attack would also allow it be an effective attacking option against Dragon, water, ground, rock etc types.
I would recomment a set like this:

Gallade (M) @ Galladite
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Psycho Cut
- Close Combat
- Swords Dance
- Night Slash

No, try either one of these movesets:

  1. Normal moveset.

Night Slash: Used to deal with Ghost types, decent damage, good chance for critical hit, high accuracy.

Zen Headbutt: STAB, good power, decent accuracy, decent chance to cause flinching.

Leaf Blade: The best Physical Grass type attack. A great move.

Brick Break: Better than Drain Punch. More damage, more PP, can break through Light Screen and Reflect.

  1. This moveset makes use of stopping your foe from attacking, allowing for a powerful Focus Punch. I find it more reliable than Substitute on a fast Pokemon.

Focus Punch
Thunder Wave

Have it hold Lum Berry or something dizzyheads
i dont have pkmn games but pkmn white ( sadly D:), but i play pokemon brick bronze, i had a lvl 49 gallade, with this moveset
rock smash
psyco cut
false swipe
this moveset destroyed anything that is not over lvl 49 or more
@AzkabanGaming yo that move set is for a normal game, not for matches against real people. First of all, there is absolutely no reason anyone would want to use false swipe which literally has no ko potential. And rock smash could be replaced with pretty much ANY kind of fighting type which includes drain punch, close combat, brick break, or even focus punch. And cut is completely irrelevant due to it's extremely  weak power, and it doesn't have any side effects too.
For the first moveset, what about switching zen headbutt for psycho cut? Would that workout?
The only reason I would take drain punch over brick break is because if you take dmg, drain punch gives you health back

Swords Dance-Raises its attacks to insane levels

Close Combat- He has low defense, the stat lowering won't make much of a difference.

Night slash-Deal with ghosts, decent power, high critical hit chance

earthquake-You knew it was coming.

Physical Gallade:
Psycho Cut-STAB
Night Slash-for Ghost types
Close Combat-more STAB
Hypnosis/Thunder Wave:to inflict Status on a Pokemon

This is basically troll Gallade:

[email protected]

Trait: Steadfast

EVs:240 HP, 200 Sp. Defense, 64 Speed

Jolly Nature (+Speed -Sp Att)

  • Substitute
  • Bulk Up
  • Drain Punch
  • Ice Punch/Night Slash

This is the Gallade that Fear Itself Fears! xD

This is the Gallade I fear.
Fear Itself, fears this Gallade.
That's how effective and powerful it is.
Ah my Peanutbutter, making me proud as always.
This should be called the FEAR Gallade. It's so fearsome that even Fear fears it!

Try this Strategy
Start with Subsitute, then use focus punch, plus Gllade will get STAB. If you don't want this, use Close Combat or Drain pUnch instead.
Psycho Cut(STAB psychic move when subsitute, focus punch doesnt work.
Swords Dance or Leaf Blade(to raise attack or cuz its an awesome move)

substitue on a fighting type will make focus punch very predictable...
and also substitue wont last that long cos of its low defense
the only time you can propally pull this off is if the opponentt is not a ghost type and is using status moves and is not using something that goes through substitutes

I loved using my Gallade focused on scoring critical hits
Held Item: Razor Claw
Close Combat STAB and a powerful ending move due to def loss
Psycho Cut STAB high crit ratio and Gallade's signature move
Leaf Blade high crit ratio and an all out powerful move
Stone Edge high crit ratio takes down flying types low accuracy, but insane base power
with this moveset, you have an amazing chance of scoring a critical hit which in turn mades your opponent frustrated ^_^

why does no one here just use galladite
Because the answers you are looking at were made years before Galladite existed.

Try this - (its very simple but works for me)

-Psycho Cut / Zen Headbutt(if you hold the zoom lens)
-Close Combat (Obvious)
-Reflect (To cover the close combat d lose)
-Ice Punch (flying, ground, dragon, grass - isnt that enough)

It can hold either life orb or leftovers

Gen V

Gallade (M) @ Life Orb

Trait: Steadfast

EVs: 252 Atk / 116 SDef / 140 Spd

Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)

  • Shadow Sneak
  • Psycho Cut
  • Drain Punch
  • Thunder Wave

i don't know much but what i have in mind is:
nature: adamant (or jolly to keep attack high but increase speed. i dont care about certain natured sets)
night slash-good with ghosts
close combat-amazing STAB
swords dance-amazing attack
zen headbut (for flinch)/psycho cut (for MORE crits)/stone edge (crit+type advantage)/leaf blade
Im not good with sets but i hope this helps a teeny bit to say the most. :P

This actually isn't quite bad for a moveset.

Gen 4 Gallade
252attack ev's, 4 def ev's and 252 speed ev's

Thunder punch
Psycho cut
Brick break/close combat
Bulk up/night slash

I find Thunder punch better than stone edge for coverage, close combat is for power and brick break is for screen breaking. Bulk up is to make up for defense loss from close combat, while night slash is for coverage.

Gallade (M) @Leftovers
Trait: Steadfast
Nature: Hasty (+Spd -Def)
EV's: 252 Spd. 252 Atk. 4 Hp

  • Zen Headbutt- STAB & Coverage against flying
  • Drain Punch- STAB
  • Bulk Up- Raises Atk. & Def.
  • Night Slash- Coverage + High Crit. Ratio

Hope his Helps! ^_^

Gallade cannot learn Zen Headbutt.
Yes he can, by move tutor.
Can he? Whoops, sorry! XD
Why Zen Headbutt is a coverage against flying?
It will hit flying the hardest out of these moves. But it is not suoer-effective coverage
Jolly would be better, won't it?

Nature: Jolly
Ev's 252 Atk 160 Spd 96 Hp
Ability: Steadfast
Role: Tankish Sweeper

Bulk up ( Raises attack, and makes defense up there with Sp Def )

Drain Punch ( Keeps him alive while doing some massive damage, more usefull in gen V )

Psycho Cut / Zen Headbutt ( Psychic STAB )

Night Slash / Stone Edge ( Night slash gives you something on other psychics, while Stone Edge Covers your Flying weakness.

Yes jolly would, but with it's defense stay its not hurting much...
Tits where'd the other comments go...?

Gallade (M) @ Lagging Tail

Role: Tricker / Sweeper

Trait: Steadfast

EVs: 96 HP / 80 Atk / 252 Def / 80 Spd

Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)

  • Trick
  • Bulk Up
  • Drain Punch
  • Zen Headbutt

Trick gives opponents a Lagging Tail to screw their speed up, and let him outspeed easier.
Bulk Up increases physical bulk, and allows an attack boost, while Drain Punch is STAB and recovery, and Zen Headbutt is STAB and Flinching.

Put fling on instead of trick, give him 0Evs and Ivs in speed and make him a trick room sweeper when trick room runs out use fling

Wifi Gallade

@ Razor Claw Adamant/Careful nature
Thunder Wave
Psycho Cut
Night Slash
Stone Edge

T-Wave screws up speed and of course, may hax the opponent. Night Slash is high-Crit-Ghost coverage. Especially useful against Dusknoir. Stone Edge screws Flying and Ice, Bug, and Fire, too. Able to get easy crits, as is Psycho Cut, which is STAB.

Gallade @ Leftovers
Trait: Justified
EVs: 252 SDef/ 252 Def/ 4 Atk
Careful Nature (+SDef,-SAtk) or Impish Nature (+Def,-SAtk)

  • Mean Look
  • Encore
  • Disable/ Torment
  • Psycho Cut/ Close Combat

The same strategy as my previously posted Gardevoir moveset. First, use Mean Look. Then, use Encore to lock the foe into a move. Next turn, if you resist, use Torment/Disable. The opponent is now forced to use Struggle and you have an automatic KO! The opponent can't escape anymore. Psycho Cut/Close Combat is STAB and is for not being a Taunt bait.

needs moar speed
Meh, right.
gallades sp def is alredy high

I have noticed that a lot of these posts have no Galladite so here's a moveset WITH the mega stone

Item: Galladite (obby, the point of this post)
EVs: 252 ATK, 252 SPD, 6 HP

Psycho Cut - Sig move+high crit ratio
Close Combat - STAB (next move you can replace with Reflect for cover)
Ice Punch - Coverage (against Flying, Grass, Dragon, and Ground)
Night Slash - Coverage against Ghost and high crit ratio

What nature? Also, is "SPD" supposed to be special defense or speed?
I recommend Jolly or Adamant Nature but you can do brave nature if you want and SPD is Speed

Gallade (M) @ Leftovers

Role: Sweeper / Tank

Trait: Steadfast

EVs: 96 HP / 144 Atk / 252 Def / 16 Spd

Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)

  • Destiny Bond
  • Thunder Wave
  • Leaf Blade
  • Drain Punch

His speed is pretty bad, but Thunder Wave makes up for that, on top of the fact that it lets him strike first for a Destiny Bond!
Drain Punch is STAB and can keep him going for a while.
Leaf Blade is coverage.

My Gallade is a physical sweeper.

Item: Life Orb
Trait: Steadfast
Nature: Adamant
Drain punch - Heals damage from life orb, STAB.
Psycho Cut/Zen Headbutt - STAB, Psycho Cut has high crit hit rate, ZH has a chance to flinch.
Leaf Blade - Coverage.
Night Slash - Moar Coverage.
