Mawile (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Encourage
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Sucker Punch
- Iron Head
- Rock Slide
- Fire Fang
^ If you want a moveset for Mawile, look here: http://pokemondb.net/pokebase/5168/what-is-a-good-moveset-for-mawile
Aggron can combat all its weaknesses because of the large amount of tms it can learn. it can learn a lot of move tutor moves aswell like ice punch, thunder punch, fire punch, dragon pulse and aqua tail.
Trait=Doesn't matter
Ability=Either works

Move Set
1.Rock Tomb
3.Iron Tail/Iron Defense
4.Shock Wave

Due to their high defense I've found that this move set is a 1-KO to most things especially paired with other complimentary teammate.

For me the best moveset for Aggron is this

Nature: Adamant
Ability: Sturdy
Item: Liechi Berry
Evs: 252 Attack / 230 Speed / 28 HP

Stone Edge
Aqua Tail

The trick for this strategy is using Automatize to raise Aggron's speed then, and even If Aggron get's OHKO, it still has sturdy to make him resist any move. If that happens, Liechi Berry will raise Aggron's attack making him capable of not only outspeeding dangerous foes but also beating the crap out of a lot of Pokemon. It works fine for me.

[email protected] Berry. Sturdy
Stone edge
Metal burst
Iron head

It works amazingly.

care to explain?
Hmm, I think you may need to rethink that move set. Maybe switch metal burst with earthquake or other string physical move. If you need something like endure, maybe substitute or protect would be the better option.

[email protected] scarf
252atk, 252 spe, 4hp
Rock head, Jolly

Head smash
Iron head
Aerial ace
Aqua tail

[email protected] lens
252 atk, 252sp.def, 4hp
Rock head, sassy

Head smash
Iron head
Aerial ace
Aqua tail

The first moveset is supposed to be unexpected and be faster than Pokemon with less than 300spe. Head smash is 1.5 times stronger than stone edge, goes well with rock head, and has the same accuracy as well as good stab, iron head has good stab also, while aerial ace and aqua tail are good coverage against those 4x effective moves.

The second moveset is supposed to withstand special moves without the use of sturdy. It has zoom lens so head smash and aqua tail won't miss. The decrease in speed means it will be able to utulise the effectiveness of zoom lens. Maxing out the sp.def allows it enough bulk to take down some special sweepers.

Hope this helps :)

I think u mean wide lens; zoom lens makes acc higher if u move last

[email protected] choice band/rocky helmet

nature: Adament

iron head(good power, high acc, STAB)

heavy slam(he is heavy)

sandstorm(to raise SPdef 50%)

double edge(rock head!)

Aggron with high defense and SPdef can be really annoying. It also has a high attack, heavy slam is good for heavy Pokemon like aggron. It also has high acc and STAB.

Hope this helps

Gen VI moveset
Aggron is a powerful, physical wall that needs to be used more in X and Y
Ability: Rock head
EVs: 252 Atk/ 200 Def/ 52 Speed/ Speed is needed to outspeed threats like Tyranitar
Item: Choice scarf
Earthquake: Must I explain?
Head smash: Egg move, because of rock head, you can have a non-recoil, 150 power STAB move! It is a must for this guy.
Iron head: Powerful STAB, chance to flinch, 100 accuracy, no drawbacks, a very good move
Dragon claw/Brick break: All three are coverage. Dragon claw for all the dragons in OU.
Brick break is for threats like excadrill and tyranitar.

Aggron @ Aggronite
Ability: Rock Head(Heavy Metal when Mega)
Adamant Nature
-Iron Head/Iron Tail
-Heavy Slam
-Head Smash/Stone Edge!

Mega Aggron's ability is Filter, not Heavy Metal. That is Aggron's hidden ability.

If you are verging friends or someone else who isn't going pro or is good, I suggest the following:

Francium (F) @ Rock Incense (or any other item that increases damage)
EVs : Anything divided between HP, Atk or Sp. def

Ability: Sturdy (if it has Head Smash then Rock Head will be better)

Thunder Wave

Autotomize ( or rock polish)

Stone Edge (or Head Smash if possible)

Iron Tail (or any other high damage PHYSICAL move)

This is by no means an automatic win, and is probably the worst move set for online competitive play, but I find this great for sweeping someone who doesn't strategise and also people that just want a quick battle.

Aggron @salac berry
Jolly nature
EVs: 129 Attack / 129 Sp Def / 252 Speed
Ability: Rock Head
-hone claws (boost attack power and accuracy of moves)
-head smash (powerful STAB and no recoil!)
-iron tail (strong STAB, chance to lower foe's defense
-dragon rush (flinch chance) / earthquake (coverage) / sandstorm (sp def boost)
Head Smash is too precious to leave out! Iron Tail is one of the most powerful steel type move for Aggron....so Hone Claws is a must.

I am currently training an Aggron with ability rock head and a lonely nature, but using a power belt, and I will change her item to a focus band or focus sash once I complete her training .
She currently knows

 -double edge
 -head smash
 -metal burst

the double edge and head smash are both high damage and reasonable accuracy, the avalanche and metal burst both get me the benefit of low speed to withstand the first double super effective attack and dish it right back

Aggron - Mega @ Aggronite
Ability: Sturdy ---> Filter
Careful Nature
252 HP / 252 SDef / 4 Atk
-Dragon Tail

-Stealth Rock

I use this set on showdown a lot, and it works very well!

Mwahahahaha... the mighty Aggron. I like using this set, as no one - at all - sees it coming. Go figure.

Aggron (M) @ Weakness Policy/Focus Sash

Trait: Rock Head

EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd

Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)

Automize (Sharply raises your speed! Great set up move with Focus Sash, or if you get a chance)
Iron Head (STAB, accurate, the whole shebang)
Head Smash (Same as Iron Head, except with 150 power. Wow)
Stealth Rock/Earthquake/Superpower (Really up to you here)

Works great in doubles with a Fake Out user to stall the biggest threat while Aggron sets up. He can sometimes take super effective hits to activate Weakness Policy, but fighting or special attacks are a problem. Play him well, and all the shops will be wreaked.

Aggron @ Aggronite (Rockhead --> Filter)
Trait: (Careful +SDef - SAtt) or (Impish +Def -SAtt)
+ 252 HP, +252 SDef, +3Def

Substitute/Rest (i prefer Rest, but I had more fun with Substitute) - to prevent stat
Iron Head

Here's my personal aggron.

Aggron Bulky Melee Smasher

Aggron + Rocky Helmet
Calm Nature
252 ev's defence, 252 ev's attack, rest of ev's in spec. defence
Ability: Sturdy

+Iron Defense
+Heavy Slam
+Heavy hitting STAB move. (Such as Stone edge, or Iron Head)

Lets take a Gallade/ Salamence.

Gallade's naturally high attack is cut down by aggron's high defence, making a 1-hit difficult, with sturdy preventing fighting from taking it down immediately, and with gallade being 6-7X less weight then aggron, it will be the equivalent of, well, getting stepped on by an aggron with the power 120 based on weight and gallade's weak defences.

Next is salamence. Many salamence are melee based, so using iron defense as you tank damage will bring your damage to almost nothing. when its max, automize until its full, allowing your speed to rival/ surpass salamence, depending on said salamence's nature, with stone edge dealing a 2X 120 move, and if you don't have it using a 100 power heavy slam. using stone edge right away is also helpful if it decides to use a special like flamethrower, as sturdy will not let it get killed off right away, while the bonus spec defense aids in the process.

Role: Bulky Lead / Tank
Trait: Sturdy ------> Filter
EVs: 252 HP / 16 Def / 240 Sp. Def
Impish Nature

  • Stealth Rock
  • Thunder Wave / Roar
  • Metal Burst
  • Head Smash / Earthquake / Stone Edge

Mega-Aggron is a lot like Mega-Steelix, but better. First off, its amazing Filter ability allows it to take less damage from super-effective attacks. Mega-Aggron's pure Steel-typing also gives it a plethora of resistances. In addition, it gets good Utility moves, such as Thunder Wave. Finally, it has an above average 140 base Atk and a sky-high base Defense of 230!

EVs are needed to give M-Aggron decent bulk. Because of its already high Defense, it needs minimal investment. The EVs in HP and Sp. Def help it to take Special Attacks better. Impish nature is required to further boost its Defense.

Stealth Rock is almost always a mandatory on Aggron.

Thunder Wave can cripple sweepers, while Roar gives M-Aggron an opportunity to rack up as much as damage as possible.

Metal Burst is a good move because Aggron can tank a move and retaliate back with a more powerful attack.

Head Smash gets good damage, but has a nasty recoil and doesn't get STAB when you mega-evolve. Stone Edge is a better alternative for avoiding recoil, but still does decent damage. Earthquake provides good coverage and deals with other Steel-types that can wall this set (ex: Ferrothorn).

----------Usage Tips----------

This set is primarily designed to be used as a bulky Lead, but it can also be used mid to late-game. In certain cases, you should hold off Mega-Evolving Aggron. For example, to avoid a super-effective Fire attack, you shouldn't Mega-Evolve and take neutral damage instead. Also, use Roar only on certain Pokemon. If you predict a switch-in, use a super-effective attack.

Aggron (M) @Aggronite
Trait: Rock Head
Lax Nature (+Def, -SpDef)

-Iron Tail: High Damage Physical Move + STAB
-Iron Head: Flinches + STAB
-Dragon Claw: Overall Coverage
-Earthquake: Coverage against Fire

I personally think that a good moveset for Aggron could be:
Iron Head ( I think by leveling up)
Surf (By TM)
Thunderbolt (By TM)
Dragon Claw (TM)

I think that most of these moves are good because they're varied, and I think that Surf would be good for Aggron to go against Fire types.

Aggron @ aggronite
Trait: filter
EVs: 67 HP / 252 Atk / 189 Def
IVs: 31 Hp / 31 Atk / 31 Def
Adamant nature ( +Atk -SpAtk)

  • Earthquake (cant leave home without it)

  • Iron tail (STAB, lots of power)

  • Hone claws (boosts power and accuracy, perfect for iron tail)

  • Stealth rock (great hazard, great to use with all that bulk)

Make him the first member of the team, so when the battle starts, mega evolve him, lay out stealth rock, use hone claws/curse then switch out (he may get hit during that, but it probably wont be very severe thanks to his insane defence and/or filter and resistances, and if that players first Pokemon knows block or mean look, use aggrons mega powers to try and KO the Pokemon, then switch out) and after most of the match, you can put your mega aggron up against the Pokemon the rest of your team had a hard time dealing with, which will be most likely (hazard eliminators can go to hell) affected by stealth rock, and use mega aggrons almighty powers to take them out one by one.
