5th Gen tier: OU
Magneton @ Evolution Stone
Trait: Magnet Pull
EVs: 252 HP / 68 Def / 176 SDef / 12 Spd
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Charge Beam
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Magic Coat
- Flash Cannon
sandstorm/ground team
magneton @ iron ball
trait: analytic
EVs:252 Satk, 128 def, 128 sdef
sassy nature (+sdef, -spd)
-zap cannon
-gyro ball

gravity removes resistance against ground type moves and lowers evasion, making thunder and zap cannon extremely lethal, and provides coverage against water
Flash Cannon and Signal Beam are way better than Zap Cannon and Gyro Ball

Magnezone @ Air Balloon
Trait: Analytic
EVs: 128 Def / 252 SAtk / 128 SDef
Quiet Nature
- Flash Cannon
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Tri Attack/Volt Switch

This set is amazing. Air Balloon gives the needed Ground immunity while Analytic allows you to hit harder with Magnezones relatively bad Speed.

Not sure about this, there could be a better nature. Also, many Fighting types also carry Earthquake, so they can hit you hard with a Fighting move, and there goes the Air Balloon, and you with it. But this still isn't worthy of a downvote.
Yeah why not Quiet nature? and Tri-attack is not very useful here why not magnet rise or reflect/Light-screen?
Yes, I'd use Reflect, as most Ground and Fighting moves are Physical.
People, flagging is for rule-breaking posts, not "I don't agree with this".
Magnezone already has amazing defenses magnet rise is redundant with air balloon tri attack is to abuse PO hax and neutral coverage
Wow, I like this moveset, Tysonyoshi!  Works great with Analytic since Magnezone is already slow.  Genius idea for Standard Play!
nice set
How u get analytic? mine has sturdy

Thunderbolt-good power, STAB

flashcannon-good stab power

toxic/hidden power [water]- he has offense and defense if you want toxic, hidden power can cover ground and fire weakness, for you, toxic.

magnet rise-covers ground weakness

by the way, how does it even learn toxic?

By TM of course. Or do you mean something else?
I knew by TM, I mean how can it physically learn it? I didn't know floating magnets were poisonous! nobody told me. :/
Well sure, if you eat them you'll probably get sick. Or maybe it shoots Poison out of its eyes. I mean, I've heard of people who can shoot milk out of their eyes, so...
For some reason, everything can learn toxic
but not magicarp and ditto
...and unown
Everything poops.

Great, but you can always add in Light Screen, since he already has good defense. Heres what you might try for a couple Magnazone Strategys.

I like to call this one: toxic.
Start With Light Screen for raising special defense so he has incredible defense and sp. defense. Next, use Toxic. Then use Screech/Metal Sound(depending if your magnazone is physical or special, if phys, use screech, if spec., use metal sound for making easy sweeping) and finally, after toxic has weakened alt, finish with Thunderbolt or Flash Cannon, or Spark(whichever one you like!).

I call this one: Sweep
Start with Metal Sound. Then, add in Thunderbolt. Next, is Flash Cannon. Finally, put in magnet rise, for some defense.

Then Theres the one I call: Defense.
Start With Barrier. Now Magnazone has unlimtited defense. Next, add Toxic, and then Light Screen. Magnazone now has unlimited defenses and the opponet is Badly poisoned. Here, the last move is optional, Thunderbolt and Flash Cannon are popular here, but thunder Wave and Double Team are good too for more defense.

Whos getting best answer?
Your defense strategy does not have magnet rise. He needs that move or he will die from ground types.
You don't need thunder wave if it knows Toxic.
Magnezone specializes in Sp. Attack!
Its Attack is horrible!
I agree he needs magnet rise in the defending category or if you get hit by moves like earthquake and mud bomb you is screwed anyway, even with the Defense raising.

Steel Lead Killer

Magnezone @ Heat Rock/Leftovers
Trait: Magnet Pull
EVs: 252 HP / 128 Def / 128 SAtk
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)/ Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Charge Beam
- Hidden Power[Fire]
- Sunny Day
- Rest

Credit to J98 for the set.

Yep, great on a 4 Drag 2 Mag team :)
Should Steel type use Sunny Day?
Well, fire types are going to kill it with or without the sun up so...
Read the name: Steel Lead Killer . Traps things like Skarm, Ferro, Scizor, and Forre and kills them. Ever seen one of those things carry a move to kill another Steel?
You have a bit much there with EVS
Wow, awesome!  Nice moveset on this!  Gotta hand it to J98, he must be an awesome Pokemon Master!
my magnazone has hidden power fire but it's ability is sturdy:(
Personally magnezone should a a move set of discharge, thunderbolt/tri attack, flash cannon and magnet rise. Plus if you don’t use magnet rise the ability sturdy should prevent ground-type 1 hit K.O.

Yay, my favorite troll Pokemon that isn't (that) cheap!

Magnezone @ Leftovers
Trait: Magnet Pull
EVs: 252 HP / 96 Def / 160 SDef
Calm Nature
- Substitute
- Thunder Wave
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Fire]

Just look at him. LOOK AT EEM!

Anyways, nobody really expects for a Magnezone to set up a Sub when he can just KO the Steel Type pokes he is good at trapping (barring Heatran). This means that the popular Steel Types aint got nothing on you. So set your Sub up and then go and have some fun watching your opponent struggle with Parahaxes when you TWave them. Then, you have 2 necessary moves on this guy; Thunderbolt and HP Fire. Thunderbolt is an amazing STAB move, especially when Magnezone boasts a Base 130 SAtk! And HP Fire is to Kill off the steel types. Note that this set is to only kill Steel types and help out teammates with Thunder Wave. And this guy doesnt really like facing Rain teams. Nonetheless, it does it's job well, and sometimes goes and finishes the rest of the teams job.

LC Moveset

Magnemite @ Eviolite
Trait: Analytic
EVs: 156 HP / 36 Def / 240 SAtk / 76 SDef
Quiet Nature (+SAtk, -Spd)
- Thunderbolt
- Flash Cannon
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Magnet Rise

Para-Flinch/Fusion Magnezone

Magnezone @ Leftovers

Impish Nature

EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Atk

-Iron Head
-Psych Up

Basically, you want to start with Spark to paralayze your opponent, then either go with Iron Head for the para-flinching, or a take it a step further by using Swagger to annoy them even more, then make a segue to boost your own Attack with Psych Up before the opponent faints, and keep on attacking or boosting your own Attack, it's your choice, depending on the situation of course.

Could work.

I just read al the answers of the others, I looked up his moveset and a have made a conclusion.
The best moveset for Magnezone you can have is:

  1. Magnet Rise (Covers Ground Weakness for 5 turns)
  2. Flash Cannon (STAB)
  3. Thunderbolt (STAB)
  4. Hidden Power[Water] (Water would be perfect because than you would have a counterattack to Ground and Fire weakness)

Or you could not go for Hidden Power if you want a stronger electric type move:

  1. Magnet Rise (Covers Ground Weakness for 5 turns)
  2. Flash Cannon (STAB)
  3. Lock-On (Makes sure the next move will hit his opponent)
  4. Zap Cannon (Use Lock-On before this move because the accuracy of Zap Cannon is 50!)

Magnezone will still have Fighting weakness, he cannot learn a flying or psychic attack to counter.

For use in lower tiers.

Magneton @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Magnet Pull or Sturdy
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest/Timid Nature
- Hidden Power [Fire] or Hidden Power [Ice]
- Volt Switch
- Thunderbolt
- Flash Cannon

Mageneton has the advantage of an extra 10 base speed over Magenezone, allowing it to have just enough speed to be a decent scarfer in places that aren't OU. HP Fire is better if you're running Magnet Pull, HP Ice is for BoltBeam lovers. The rest of the set are just standard STABs.

Not volt switch just use tri attack, like seriously, are you trying to kill you magneton?
Tri Attack is pretty bad. Volt Switch helps Magneton and Magnezone become great Pivots for momentum and support their scarfing Habits. That is far more useful than any niche Tri Attack can produce. :P
if you manage to freeze/burn/paralyze with tri attack it actually becomes a really powerful move, especially if you know how to use it right.

Magnezone Nature: Modest, Evs: 252 S.attack, 200 S.def, 56 def.

HP(Fire/water)(Depends if you want coverage over ground and fire or if you want to make use of magnet pull and a have super effective move on Bronzong and metagross)

Magnet Rise(Deals with 4x weakness to ground)

Reflect(The reason you invested so little evs in defense+support for team mates)

You could switch the def and S.def evs around and give it light screen instead.

Gen V

Magnezone @ Light Clay

Trait: Magnet Pull

EVs: 252 Def / 128 SAtk / 128 SDef

Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)

  • Reflect
  • Light Screen
  • Discharge
  • Flash Cannon

Magnezone Timid Nature, EVs 252 Speed, 252 HP, 4 Sp.Def, Item Leftovers, Ability Magnet Pull.

Substitute, hide behind this and set up.

Charge Beam, basically what this set depends on, damage while also rasing your special attack at the same time.

Flash Cannon, after you have enough special attack boost go with this.

Magnet Rise/Hidden Power Ground/Hidden Power Water, Covers his big weakness to Ground or Hidden Power Ground to cover everything Flash Cannon is not very effective against including fire weakness.
Hidden Power Water is also a very good option.

The idea here is to switch into a steel type and use substitute, and then power up special attack with charge Beam and then sweep with flash cannon. i find that ferrothorn is a very good pokemon to set up on.

Speed!? Really!? That's pointless! Its Speed is already too terrible, I could probably think of 100 more Pokemon who would STILL be faster than it without max Speed EVs. Maybe not 100, but a heck of a lot, that's for sure!
With those speed EVs though, you outspeed **Steel types** the pokemon that he's trapping with Magnet Pull, ya know. And after setting up Charge Beams, max speed will be useful to out speed other tanks etc. And slow sweepers.

My Magnezone has

Modest Nature

Thunder- Highly powerful STAB

Lock-on- Make sure Thunder has 100% accuracy

Flash Cannon- STAB

Thunder Wave- Paralyzes opponents

Magnezone @ Magnet
Trait: Sturdy
- Magnet Rise (removes its largest weakness)
- Flash Cannon (STAB)
- Charge Beam/Shock Wave/Thunder Bolt (STAB, Charge Beam raises Sp Att, Shock wave is infinite Acc, or Thunder bolt is just bigger)
- Hidden Power (Psychic, Flying, Ground, Rock, Water) (For Coverage)

*This moveset was made with Gen4 in mind

Magnezone @ Scope Lens

not bad movest but nature why brave
you have no phsycal moves go timid or modest
i change it to modest
That set is almost Identical to several others.
the imagine is the same but the others moves etc aren't

I had a level 73 Magnezone before the Elite Four and I used the following moveset

  1. Flash Cannon
  2. Discharge
  3. Electro Ball (To take out speedy Opponents plus STAB)
  4. Thunder Wave (To cut down opponent's speed by 75%)
My Magnezone was strong in the Special Attack area so teaching it physical moves like spark are pointless.
don't teach electro ball to magnezone.magnezone has low speed,so electro ball doesn,t do much damage.
Electro ball isnt that bad considering if u get them paralyzed with thunder wave or discharge it will outspeed them by a lot

Magnizone @life orb
EVs 252sp.attck 256speed

Flash cannon
Magnet rise
Tri attack

you cant have 256 EVs on one stat
Nice setup but i'd rather run Electro ball instead of thunderbolt since you are building speed and put 252 in sp.att and 252 in speed with 6 in def. :D

this one is mine and just uses common sense + tactics

magnezone @ magnet (obviously ;) )
ability: sturdy
nature: modest(+SpA -Att) would be prefered

 - raindance (boosts the power of HP and gives thunder 100%acc)

 - hidden power(water) to get rid of the ground and fire types

 -thunder, insane power + 100%acc

-protect/substitute/volt switch, protect for move scouting, substitute for the decoy
and volt switch is for a free bail out

so you pretty much send him out, rain dance, then sweep...
