Magnezone @ Air Balloon
Ability: Analytic
EVs: 128 Def / 252 SpA / 128 SpD
Quiet Nature
- Flash Cannon
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Tri Attack / Volt Switch

This set is amazing. Air Balloon gives the needed Ground immunity while Analytic allows you to hit harder with Magnezones relatively bad Speed.

I used this set only with tri attack!
can i replace hidden power ice by using hidden power water ?
@Pokemaster    Wait, so it has been flagged just because people didn't like it?
Look what, I'm not into politics like this, I just think that's kinda weird

Gen 5 OU Steel Melter
Magnezone
Magnezone @ Light Clay/Leftovers/Air Balloon
Ability: Magnet Pull
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 248 HP / 252 SpA / 8 SpD
Modest Nature
IVs: 2 Atk / 30 SpA / 30 Spe
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Light Screen
- Reflect
This is meant to trap steels (notably Ferrothorn, Scizor, and Skarmory) and kill them with HP Fire. Thunderbolt is STAB. Reflect and Light Screen can work as setup if they don’t have any super effective moves.

Teammate suggestions:

Dragons!!!

Dragons are a nearly unstoppable force. The only things that seem to be able to stop them:

Steel!!!

And what does Magnezone beat?

Steel!!!

So what do you use him with?

Dragons!!!

Good ideas. Just saying in case some people forget, obviously you can do even more by just zapping Skarmory.
Yep! That’s what the original purpose was and I had Flash Cannon, but I remembered Scizor and Ferrothorn and replaced it with HP fire
Why do yiu have that weird iv set
Hidden Power
Choice Scarf and Choice Specs are also viable options on Magnezone. You should use 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe and a Timid Nature
That’d be an entirely different set.

Yay, my favorite troll Pokemon that isn't (that) cheap!

Magnezone
Magnezone @ Leftovers
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 252 HP / 96 Def / 160 SpD
Calm Nature
- Substitute
- Thunder Wave
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Fire]

Just look at him. LOOK AT EEM!

Anyways, nobody really expects for a Magnezone to set up a Sub when he can just KO the Steel Type pokes he is good at trapping (barring Heatran). This means that the popular Steel Types aint got nothing on you. So set your Sub up and then go and have some fun watching your opponent struggle with Parahaxes when you TWave them. Then, you have 2 necessary moves on this guy; Thunderbolt and HP Fire. Thunderbolt is an amazing STAB move, especially when Magnezone boasts a Base 130 SAtk! And HP Fire is to Kill off the steel types. Note that this set is to only kill Steel types and help out teammates with Thunder Wave. And this guy doesnt really like facing Rain teams. Nonetheless, it does it's job well, and sometimes goes and finishes the rest of the teams job.

For use in lower tiers.

magneton
Magneton @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Magnet Pull / Sturdy
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest / Timid Nature
- Hidden Power [Fire] / Hidden Power [Ice]
- Volt Switch
- Thunderbolt
- Flash Cannon

Mageneton has the advantage of an extra 10 base speed over Magenezone, allowing it to have just enough speed to be a decent scarfer in places that aren't OU. HP Fire is better if you're running Magnet Pull, HP Ice is for BoltBeam lovers. The rest of the set are just standard STABs.

Not volt switch just use tri attack, like seriously, are you trying to kill you magneton?
Tri Attack is pretty bad. Volt Switch helps Magneton and Magnezone become great Pivots for momentum and support their scarfing Habits. That is far more useful than any niche Tri Attack can produce. :P
if you manage to freeze/burn/paralyze with tri attack it actually becomes a really powerful move, especially if you know how to use it right.

Magneton
Magneton @ Blunder Policy
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Zap Cannon
- Thunderbolt
- Tri Attack
- Flash Cannon

Zap Cannon is the gimmick of this set. If it hits, lucky you. If it misses, too bad, you get to have your speed doubled. Thunderbolt is STAB. Tri Attack is for nuetral coverage. Flash Cannon is also STAB.

Gen 8 OU

Magnezone @ Assault Vest
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 144 HP / 136 SpA / 128 SpD / 100 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Volt Switch
- Thunderbolt / Discharge
- Flash Cannon
- Mirror Coat

Equipped with an Assault Vest, Magnezone can use it's bulk to trap and kill Heatran, utilizing Mirror Coat. The EVs ensure that either of Heatran's attacks will do enough damage for a Mirror Coat to work while still packing a punch. Thanks to it's great special defense and access to Volt Switch, Magnezone can also serve as an effective pivot against teams without Heatran. Thanks to Mirror Coat, it can also do heavy damage to special attackers. It can also still trap and chip Corviknight and Skarmory. Discharge or Thunderbolt can be used for paralysis or power respectively.

Magnezone works best with pivots that lure in Heatran, such as Eject Button Toxapex or most Steel types. Of course, Pokemon that apprieciate Heatran being gone (and Steels being weakened) work especially well with AV Magnezone. Notable examples are Tapu Lele, Volcarona, and Choice Specs Kyurem.

0 SpA Heatran Earth Power vs. 144 HP / 128 SpD Assault Vest Magnezone: 208-248 (65.6 - 78.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
0 SpA Heatran Magma Storm vs. 144 HP / 128 SpD Assault Vest Magnezone: 170-204 (53.6 - 64.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after trapping damage

136+ SpA Magnezone Thunderbolt vs. 248 HP / 92 SpD Corviknight: 306-362 (76.6 - 90.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

252 SpA Blacephalon Flamethrower vs. 144 HP / 128 SpD Assault Vest Magnezone: 210-248 (66.2 - 78.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 SpA Choice Specs Dragapult Shadow Ball vs. 144 HP / 128 SpD Assault Vest Magnezone: 103-123 (32.4 - 38.8%) -- 98.9% chance to 3HKO

Magnezone
Magnezone @ Leftovers
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Substitute
- Charge Beam
- Flash Cannon
- Magnet Rise / Hidden Power [Ground] / Hidden Power [Water]

Substitute, hide behind this and set up.

Charge Beam, basically what this set depends on, damage while also rasing your special attack at the same time.

Flash Cannon, after you have enough special attack boost go with this.

Magnet Rise/Hidden Power Ground/Hidden Power Water, Covers his big weakness to Ground or Hidden Power Ground to cover everything Flash Cannon is not very effective against including fire weakness.
Hidden Power Water is also a very good option.

The idea here is to switch into a steel type and use substitute, and then power up special attack with charge Beam and then sweep with flash cannon. I find that ferrothorn is a very good Pokemon to set up on.

Speed!? Really!? That's pointless! Its Speed is already too terrible, I could probably think of 100 more Pokemon who would STILL be faster than it without max Speed EVs. Maybe not 100, but a heck of a lot, that's for sure!
With those speed EVs though, you outspeed **Steel types** the pokemon that he's trapping with Magnet Pull, ya know. And after setting up Charge Beams, max speed will be useful to out speed other tanks etc. And slow sweepers.

This is a strategy for Magnemite in 1v1 or just regular singles (any tier).

Magnemite @ Oran Berry
Level: 1
Trait: Sturdy
EVs: None
Serious Nature
- Toxic
- Recycle
- Protect
- Not Needed

You probably know how this works already. You use Toxic first, and you will hang on with sturdy and get healed by the Oran Berry. Next, alternate between Recycle and Protect. With the Oran Berry Recycle is like rest with no sleeping. It's fun to play with and it makes people rage quit sometimes if you can't do Toxic.

Magnezone @ Choice Specs
Ability: Magnet Pull
252 SAtk / 112 Spe / 144 HP
Modest Nature
-Thunderbolt
-Volt Switch
-Flash Cannon
-Hidden Power [Fire]

Standard Specs breaker set for Gen 6. EVs are so it can outspeed Mega Scizor for Superpower variants.

Volt Switch holds momentum and weakens balance cores. Thunderbolt is STAB for when you wish to keep using an Electric attack; otherwise, Flash Cannon is most useful since it puts significant pressure on Ground-types switching into Magnezone. HP Fire is standard to efficiently dispatch of Ferrothorn, Scizor, etc.

Well, this one doesn't have much coverage, but other Pokemon can do that for Magnezone.

Magnezone @ Light Clay
Ability: Analytic
EVs: HP 248 / 258 Def / 8 SpD
Quiet Nature
- Flash Cannon
- Light Screen
- Thunderbolt
- Magnet Rise

Magnet Rise allows you to be immune to Earthquake or other horrific Ground-type attacks for 5 turns, and Light Clay allows Light Screen to stay up for 8 turns rather than 5. Analytic raises your Special Attack to x1.3 if you go last, and that's why Flash Cannon and Thunderbolt are there, for the Analytic boost, Magnezone's crazy Special Attack stat and STAB. Hope this works for you!

No I disagree with some of these posts - this is how a special attacking Magnezone rolls out:

Magnezone @Weakness Policy
Ability: Analytic
EVs: 128 Def / 252 SpA / 124 SpD
Quiet Nature
- Flash Cannon
- Thunderbolt
- Mirror Coat
- Signal Beam / Tri Attack

  • Flash Cannon - STAB and useful SpDef drop
  • Thunderbolt - STAB and paralysis
  • Mirror Coat - Just to really annoy basically everything
  • Signal Beam / Tri Attack - POWER or status condition

Magnezone @ Air Balloon / Quick Claw
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Zap Cannon
- Flash Cannon
- Electro Ball / Magnet Rise
- Lock-On

Zap Cannon is a powerful STAB move due to its high power and sure paralysis, and Lock-On makes sure to hit. Electro Ball provides a secondary Electric STAB move if Zap Cannon's PP runs out (and that's why you need a lot of Speed), or save yourself from Ground attacks with Magnet Rise (I rather recommend Quick Claw as held item if you choose Magnet Rise). Flash Cannon is nothing more than a simple Steel type STAB move, but it's still a plus if the Sp. Def lowering happens. :D

Role: Special Sweeper

Magnezone @ Leftovers
Ability: Analytic
EVs: 128 HP / 128 Atk / 252 SpA
Quiet Nature
- Gyro Ball
- Volt Switch
- Magnet Rise
- Hidden Power [Water]

Explanation: Gyro Ball is STAB and makes use of Magnezone's slow speed. Volt Switch is also STAB and allows the not so tanky Magnezone to make a quick escape when necessary. Magnet Rise overcomes its 4x weakness towards Ground types for you to use HP (Water), where HP (Water) is also effective against Magnezone's other weakness, Fire types.

Edit: I've come back here after nearly a year and decided to alter my original answer. My original answer was different from this but I posted this answer quite late so I don't think a lot of people have read my original answer anyways, so hopefully it doesn't make a huge difference.

You can post more than one answer for more than one sets.
Hi, thanks for letting me know! Anyways my original answer was pretty bad and I decided to scrape it off entirely lol.
Oh okay

Magnemite (level 1) @ Berry Juice
Ability: Sturdy
nature: doesn't matter
IVs: 0 in everything
EVs: no EVs

  • Toxic
  • Recycle
  • Thunder Wave

Use Toxic first turn, then spam Recycle. If there's a Steel type, Thunder Wave them and then sacrifice Magnemite for momentum.

by
god damn you are trying to make someone rage at a baby magnet I LOVE IT
I got this set after losing to the same exact Magnemite set lol
i lost to one that had toxic, sonic boom, recycle, and protect. and for that reason was why I started using Greninja with water shuriken

Magneton @ Eviolite
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Modest Nature
- Volt Switch
- Flash Cannon
- Thunderbolt
- Tri Attack

Magneton with Eviolite has 105 SpD and 142.5 Def
Magnezone has 90 SpD and 115 Def.

They both learn basically the same moves.

Magneton only has 10 less base points in special attack.

MAGNETON IS BETTER

Gen 8 NU

Magneton @ Eviolite
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Thunderbolt
- Flash Cannon
- Volt Switch
- Protect

Magneton has a niche in NU by being able to trap steel types like Bronzong and Copperajah. It also has a good STAB combination that not many Pokemon want to switch into. Thunderbolt is electric STAB. Flash Cannon is for steel STAB that can deal with ground types like Mudsdale and Flygon when they switch in. Volt Switch is for pivoting. Protect is for scouting.

Gen 8 NU

Magneton @ Choice Specs
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Thunderbolt
- Flash Cannon
- Steel Beam
- Volt Switch

Modest Specs Magneton hits like a truck. Thunderbolt is strong electric STAB. Flash Cannon is for coverage. Steel Beam is for a stronger steel STAB that can OHKO Flygon when it switches in. Volt Switch is for pivoting.

Gen 8 1v1
Magnemite Magnezone Magnemite
In the zone (Magnezone) @ Custap Berry
Ability: Sturdy
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Def / 252 SpA / 4 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Thunderbolt
- Flash Cannon
- Mirror Coat
- Endure

Thunderbolt is STAB and hits water types like Primarina and Tapu Fini. Flash Cannon hits things that resist Tbolt as well as things like Gdarm. Endure is for situations where you won't survive and you can use the Custap Berry to outspeed and kill. Mirror Coat counters special mons. In the case you have to face something like an opposing Magnezone or Regieleki (or literally any special attacking mon), you'll want little Special Defense to do as much Mirror Coat damage as possible. Defense EVs are to try to lower Physical damage.

Gen 8 SwSh Monotype (Electric)

Magnezone @ Air Balloon
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 252 HP / 44 Def / 212 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Magnet Rise
- Iron Defense
- Body Press
- Discharge

Magnezone is used as a steel trapper to remove Steel types. With this set you can even deal with Excadrill. Magnet Rise might seem like a weird move choice on this set but is useful for helping you be immune to ground type moves even after your Air Balloon pops, which is useful against non choiced Excadrill. In addition, Magnet Rise does not fail when your Air Balloon hasn't popped yet, which is neat. Iron Defense boosts your defense and makes Body Press a strong move, which is what Magnezone uses for most of the Steel types it traps. Discharge is for Electric STAB that deals with Steel / Flying types such which are Skarmory, Celesteela, and Corviknight. With this set, your best bet is to switch in on either a passive Steel type or Excadrill if it's a Choiced item set. You might want to deal with Aegislash before sending out Magnezone, as it can't be trapped and is immune to Body Press.

Other Options: Flash Cannon can be used in place of Discharge for steel STAB if you need it. Substitute is also an option that can be used instead of Discharge to avoid Leech Seed from Ferrothorn and Celesteela.

"Flash Cannon can be used in place of Magnet Rise for steel STAB if you need it. Substitute is also an option that can be used instead of Magnet Rise to avoid Leech Seed from Ferrothorn and Celesteela".

I think Magnet Rise is the most important and needed choice as it alows you to deal with any Ground-type move after your Air Balloon is popped. On the other hand, Discharge doesn't seem to be needed in Electric-monotype—why would you need to hit Corviknight, Celesteela and Skarmory when the other Electric-types hit them effectively?

For a Electric-monotype, dealing wtih Ferrothorn is important so I'd say that you would opt for Substitute / Flash Cannon over Dischage instead of Magnet Rise.

Gen 8 BDSP OU
This is a trick room variant of magnezone and I have used this with a lot of success on Showdown!.

Magnezone @ Choice Specs
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
IVs: 0 Spe
Quiet Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Volt switch
- Flash cannon
- Tri Attack

This set works amazingly for trapping Steel-’s as you have incredible bulk with the HP EVs and with Specs you do insane damage with that SpA.
