Charizard is my favorite Pokemon since I was five yo. I simple can't play without him, so it become my main.

Role: Sweeper

Charizard-Mega-X (M) @ Charizardite X
Ability: Tough Claws
EVs: 128 Atk / 128 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Fire Punch
- Dragon Claw
- Earthquake
- Dragon Dance

  • Fire Punch: Nice STAB with 97 base power thanks to Tough Claws. It's here over Flare Blitz for longevity
  • Dragon Claw: STAB, 104 base power. Is here over Outrage for the same reason of Fire Punch
  • Earthquake: Great move, Great Coverage
  • Dragon Dance: The heart of It.

It's simple: set it once with DD and both his Attack and Speed go to 492. It can outspeed anything that isn't scarfed or called "Regieleki"; 492 Attack + Tough Claws + STAB do a nice damage. Set it twice with DD and both his Attack and Speed go to 656. It can outspeed anything and beat anything unprepared. But, set it up twice can't let you OHKO Gliscor and Blissey. You i'll need to set it up 3 times, and when it reach the SSJ 3, it's done. I preffer X-zard than Y-zard because he's really bulky, and a better Fighter than any other common dragon in the game (LO Salamance, Policy Dragonite, average Garchomp, etc), but he isn't absolute: Unaware Cleffairy is the natural counter of It. Sash-Counter can also put it to rest, and Sturdy/Toxic can piss you off. Otherwise, he's really a great Fire/Dragon type.

Role: Lead

Charizard-Mega-Y (M) @ Charizardite Y
Ability: Drought
EVs: 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Flamethrower
- Dragon Pulse
- Solar Beam
- Scorching Sands / Air Slash

  • Flamethrower: Nice STAB
  • Dragon Pulse: Mandatory Coverage
  • Solar Beam: Cover all his Fire Weakness
  • Scorching Sands/Air Slash: Choose your Coverage

Don't need explanation. 417 Base SpA and super-effectiveness against 11 different Types (Grass, Bug, Ice, Steel, Dragon, Water, Ground, Rock, Poison, Fire and Electric). Nice STAB Power (Sun Flamethrower) and great Coverage. Work better on Sun Team's or Doubles with Arcanine/Venusaur.

Charizard @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 252 SpA / 252 SpD / 4 HP
Adamant Nature
- Flamethrower: Power, accuracy and burn
- Thunder Punch: Deals with Water-types
- Dragon Pulse: Dragon coverage
- Air Slash: STAB and flinch

Why Adamant with 3 special attacking moves?

Role: Fast special sweeper

Charizard (M) @ Charizardite Y
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Weather Ball
- Solar Beam
- Air Slash
- Dragon Pulse / Ancient Power

Mega Charizard Y summons sun due to its ability Drought. During sun, Weather Ball is actually stronger than Flamethrower. Solar Beam is good against Rock types. Air Slash just in case and Dragon Pulse for Dragon types which resists fire and grass. Ancient power is just for other fire types or flying types.

Sun only lasts for a few turns so you might need switch out and switch in to summon the sun again.

Also, switch out if you meet a primal Kyogre. Kyogre kills Charizard.

National Dex Monotype (Fire)

Charizard-Mega-X @ Charizardite X
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Substitute
- Swords Dance
- Flame Charge
- Dragon Claw / Outrage

A Substitute + Swords Dance set. Substitute is to allow you to dodge status conditions. Swords Dance is to boost your attacks by two stages. Flame Charge is fire STAB that's boosted by Tough Claws and raises your speed. Dragon Claw is for dragon STAB which is also boosted by Tough Claws. Outrage can be used instead for more power, but locks you into that move for 2-3 turns.

SD + Flame Charge over Dragon Dance + filler is weird, but even though Dragon Claw / Outrage is inferior to Earthquake since this set is literally walled easily by Heatran and Toxapex (former kills with Earth Power and latter ruins with Haze though the former is more worrying).

Charizard Mega Y

Charizard @ Charizardite Y
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
• Flamethrower / Weather Ball
• Solar Beam
• Dragon Pulse
• Blast Burn

Why Y instead of X? Mega Y has a massive 159 base special attack and Drought ability which destroys almost everything
Flamethrower is stab, deadly with 159 SpA and 50% boost from Drought
Weather ball deals slightly more damage than flamethrower, but damage dies after Drought's effect ends, not a bad choice though
Solarbeam for water and rock coverage
Both fire and grass are weak against dragon type so dragon pulse is good for them
When Drought's effect is over and HP is low, Blast Burn is good for a Final strike
No Air slash because fighting, grass and bug coverage is not really needed

Why hasty over timid? Why blast burn when it has the crippling recharge and you already have fire STAB?
How do you expect to switch in a single time if you don't have Roost? Do you want to get walled by Heatran and Tyranitar? The only Dragon type that can even switch in safely is Dragonite, which can get 2hkoed after multiscale is broken, so Dragon Pulse is unnecessary. Flamethrower, Fire Blast, or Weather Ball are already strong enough as fire moves and Blast Burn cripples you so its redundant

I swept 3 teams with this on showdown. It's amazing.

Charizard @ Salac Berry
Ability: Blaze
252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Substitute
- Fire Punch
- Dragon Claw / Acrobatics / Dual Wingbeat
- Belly Drum

I saw a similar one somewhere and I basically use the same set, but I just changed a few things. Predict a switch or setup move to get the substitute off, which also means a free belly drum. Sub + belly drum gets you to 1/4 health which gives you a speed boost from salac and also gets you into blaze with makes fire punch literally steamroll everything. Dragon claw is coverage, which I prefer, but if you want you can use Acrobatics for a solid stab with 165 power. However, its walled by rock types. You could use Dual wingbeat if gen 8 but then I prefer a dynamax sun sweeper.

Hope you like it

Gen 7 Ubers Drought Sweeper

Charizard @ Charizardite Y
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Fire Blast / Heat Wave
- Air Slash / Dragon Pulse
- Solar Beam
- Dragon Dance / Roost

- Dragon Dance is purely meant for speed so Charizard is able to out speed most threats that would normally just take it out instantly.
- Fire Blast for powerful STAB that can OHKO anything that does not resist it tho its accuracy is low can miss from time to time so sometimes Heat Wave is the better option.
- Air Slash if you wanna try your luck with the flinching rate.

Charizard doesn't have any speed issues, and the attack boost is useless, so Ddance is not good for Charizard Y
zeraora and greninja can both outspeed and kill charizard

Gen 6-7 OU Charizard Y

Charizard (M) @ Charizardite Y
Ability: Drought
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature / Modest Nature
- Fire Blast
- Air Slash / Dragon Pulse
- Solar Beam
- Roost / Focus Blast

  • Fire Blast is one of the best strongest moves for Charizard and is able to completely FRY most Pokemon into some delicious bacon and eggs with sun I mean like look at this (110 + 55 + 55 = 220) that's OP you'll be using this move the most for Pokemon that are slower than you and take neutral or super effective damage from fire.
  • Air Slash May seem like bit of an underwhelming flying type move but it is still useful because it does decent damage and has a good 30% chance to make the opposing Pokemon flinch.
  • Solar Beam is your best coverage move and it doesn't take two turns to charge in sun, instead it activates instantly and gets rid of water, rock, and ground types.
  • Roost is for recovery to keep Charizard healthy during battle so it can keep sweeping.
  • Dragon Pulse to kill common dragon types that check Charizard Y like Latias and Latios, Garchomp, Salamance, and countless others.
  • Focus Blast for more coverage and to take advantage of Charizard's massive special attack stat and helps kill bulky Tyranitars that can survive Solar Beam while also not being walled by Heatran.

If you can some how manage to boost Charizards speed and special attack this set's potential to sweep becomes very high to the point that it can pretty much OHKO almost EVERYTHING with just Fire Blast in sun if it hits no matter the type because look at this (110 + 55 + 55 x 2 = 440) that's insane! so feel free to try out this set on Pokemon Showdown.

Charnizard @ Grip Claw
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Aerial Ace
- Fire Spin
- Will-O-Wisp / Toxic
- Roost

Aerial ace is a Charizard's main STAB attack capable of OHKOing threats such as leavanny and parasect which, when left unchecked, are able to setup on most teams and sweep. Fire spin is a secondary STAB attack used to trap opponents and wear them down over time which is used alongside grip claw to maximize the number of turns the opponent is trapped. In the next slot, is your choice of a status move. Will-O-Wisp cripples physical attacks whilst toxic can be used to deal with Pokémon that check this set. Roost is the last move in this set, which provides Charizard with reliable recovery which allows it to stall out foes in combination with fire spin and the status move of your choice.

Is this some kind of sick joke? Why are you even using a defensive charizard, especially one without heavy duty boots? It will straight up die to stealth rocks. I might be wrong, but I highly doubt leavanny and parasect are serious threats. Lastly, Fire Spin and Aerial Ace are not good. Fire spin may be a fun gimmik, but you can't deny that running flamethrower and air slash are just straight up better.
