I have a solution as to what we can use for forums.
phpBB is an open source, easy to use forum software that I think will fit perfectly here. And what's the best part? It's completely free.
Just thought I'd put this out here.
The problem with this is it won't integrate with the current user accounts very well. I am (slowly) working on a solution. I know it's frustrating to wait so long, and I could have implemented some forum software like phpBB quite easily by now, but honestly the vast majority of those programs are really badly designed.
