Meta-PokéBase Q&A

Decided to make a new thread myself for this so I can get the responses via email. Here you can report any minor errors with the main site instead of starting a lot of new questions. Things you can report here include:

  • Spelling/grammar errors.
  • Incorrect data (e.g. Pokemon with the wrong abilities listed, moves with the wrong power/type and so on).
  • Missing pictures (sprites, icons and artwork).

As I fix the errors, the answers will be hidden. Try and keep comments to a minimum to avoid clogging up the page, stick to important things like additions/corrections to the corrections.

Remember, small corrections only! If you're reporting something more substantial than a missing picture or incorrect data, please make a new thread!

Please, post corrections as ANSWERS, not comments. Thanks :)

Some Pokémon abilities have been updated to to Gen 9 but the abilities of previous generations for that Pokémon has not been mentioned, e.g. Gallade with its ability Sharpness in Gen 9, but it isn’t mentioned what it’s ability was previously

by
Gallade in particular didn't have a second ability in gen 8. What other Pokemon have this error?
I believe Empoleon.
Empoleon's page still says it has defiant and doesn't mention competitive at all.
Either way it needs to be updated.

Alolan Grimer, Cacnea, and Luvdisc had egg moves added in the SV DLC, but aren't on PokemonDB yet:

Scale Shot has not been added to the moves that are effected by Skill Link. I no know one who can learn Scale Shot can have Skill Link as an ability but the same is for Barrage which is included.

Under "Infinite accuracy moves" kowtow cleave is not listed as one of the infinite accuracy moves when it should be

https://pokemondb.net/scarlet-violet/exclusive needs to be updated for both DLCs.

Tandemaus' evolution method is wrong. The website states that it evolves into Maushold at Level 25, but it actually needs to be levelled up to Level 25 in battle. EXP Candies and Rare Candies won't be enough.

No classification for Hydrapple (i.e. Dragon Pokemon)

Meganium is said not to have egg moves for Scarlet and Violet https://pokemondb.net/pokedex/meganium but I just tested it out and it can learn Ancient Power, same egg moves as Chikorita. Please add egg moves.

Same with Infernape https://pokemondb.net/pokedex/infernape/moves/9
Egg moves are the same as Chimchar in Scarlet Violet. This is important because of the Mirror Herb that can now be used at any evolution stage to give a pokemon egg moves. This was still capable by putting two of the same species together in the daycare in previous games. But Mirror Herb can now make this much more efficient, especially without the need of Egg Groups.

For both Beautifly and Dustox's location page, in games where only their pre-evolutions are found in the wild, it says they can be obtained by evolving Cascoon and Silcoon respectively, which isn't the case.

There are also plenty of mix-ups with the Pokemon that branch into evolving from their Hisuian forms, saying they evolve from Pokemon that both aren't available in those games and can't evolve from (such as the pages for Weavile, Sneasler, Electrode, Goodra, etc.)

by
I would actually say this is more than just a minor issue and speaks to an important logic error in the site generally.
Should I rewrite the answer into a question, then? I don't really know what the general grey area between a more major site error or just a minor one that needs fixing is.

TM009 page states that it is Venoshock from generations 6-7 when it should be from generations 5-7.

Similar error on the TM043 page, generations 6-7 should also be generations 5-7.

Pokemaster edit: the DexNav Pokemon for Hoenn do not specify when they're post-National Dex.

Hello, im currently playing Pokemon omega ruby, and im using your web site to find information on Pokemon in every area (like I've always done), and im sorry to say but i think you made en error in the site, because most of the Pokemon, you right you can find, you can't actually find.

It's so frustrating, pleas let me know if it's just me that's blind or if it's you that made a mistake.

this is not a complaint, just a heads op.

Could you provide some examples?
Note that there's a probability of each pokemon appearing - some appear less than others.
of course, on route 101 it says that, with the DexNav, you can catch, Lillipup, Zorua, and Sewaddle, well I've looked on that route extensively, and i'm telling you the only pokemon you can catch with the DexNav on that route is Zigzagoon, Wurmple and Poochyena. Your site even says that Zoura and Sewaddle is common pokemon in that area and i'm pretty sure none of them is in the game.

BTW. thank you for answering :)
That's because those Pokemon are only available in after you get the National Dex, the site just doesn't specify that. After you get it, a ton of new Pokemon start appearing on the DexNav. So it's actually correct, just a bit vague. Other sites like Bulbapedia say the exact same thing (see http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Hoenn_Route_101#Generation_VI ).
Thanks for bringing this up though!
Oh! great! got it as the last thing last night so i havent tried it yet, cant wait.!

thanks a lot and no problem :)
Thanks. I've edited the answer with clarification, in other words what I actually need to fix when I get around to fixing it :)

Please add that Zigzagoon gets the move ExtremeSpeed through Pokemon Box: Ruby & Sapphire Event in Gen III. It is given to the player as an egg, which later hatches to a Zigzagoon once the player has 100 Pokémon in storage. This is a list of multiple Pokémon

Swablu - Start of game, knows False Swipe

Zigzagoon - 100 Pokémon, knows ExtremeSpeed

Skitty - 500 Pokémon, knows Pay Day

Picchu - 1499 Pokemon, knows Surf

Is there information on moves you get by transferring Pokemon from Colosseum or XD?

ON registeel and regice's pages when you go to bw2 locations for them it says they can be caught in both bw2 but they are on version exlusives page.

In the Galar Mine, it says that Woobat can only be found at level 15 highest. However, I have just found a Woobat at level 16. Am I missing something or is this an actual mistake?

It's probably a mistake. That's what this thread is for.
There are some Pokemon that are separate from the regular encounter tables (which I checked and definitely say level 11-15). Will compile a list and add them when I can.

A few areas from Heartgold/Soulsilver are missing their fishing encounter pool (so far noticed Route 40, Olivine City, Cianwood city). Visiting the pages of the individual Pokemon shows that they don't appear there either (Corsola for example has no listed encounters for hgss, and Staryu only has one, lacking all the ones where it's encountered by fishing).
My apologies if there's an already known reason for this.

by
A lot of encounter pools are missing. Pokemaster is just too busy to fix them. https://pokemondb.net/pokebase/meta/14511

There is information missing for the move Bug Buzz. Bug Buzz can bypass Substitute but cannot break it. In addition, it does not affect Pokemon with the ability Soundproof.

The system shows tags, but sometimes some of them don’t exist! Here is an example with the “metapod” tag:

According to this article, personality is now used to determine shininess and nothing else. Also the list of IV judges still needs updating.

I think this is where I post this? Please correct me if I'm wrong.

https://pokemondb.net/move/fell-stinger this page says only the Sobble line can learn Fell Stinger as an egg move, but in OrAs I just DexNav'd an eggmoved Surskit with Fell Stinger. Surskit isn't anywhere on that page ;0

by
I think it might have something to do with a filter that only shows what Pokémon can learn a move only if they're in the Sword/Shield dex. This is probably the same for the other moves, since Masquerain can learn Giga Drain, but it's not in the Giga Drain page:
https://pokemondb.net/move/giga-drain
