Meta-PokéBase Q&A

Decided to make a new thread myself for this so I can get the responses via email. Here you can report any minor errors with the main site instead of starting a lot of new questions. Things you can report here include:

  • Spelling/grammar errors.
  • Incorrect data (e.g. Pokemon with the wrong abilities listed, moves with the wrong power/type and so on).
  • Missing pictures (sprites, icons and artwork).

As I fix the errors, the answers will be hidden. Try and keep comments to a minimum to avoid clogging up the page, stick to important things like additions/corrections to the corrections.

Remember, small corrections only! If you're reporting something more substantial than a missing picture or incorrect data, please make a new thread!

Please, post corrections as ANSWERS, not comments. Thanks :)

In the evs section it says vitamins can only be used eleven times on one pokémon, but in gen8 and after you can use 26.

Oinkologne's learnset differs for male and female species (see Serebii, Bulbapedia), but this isn't reflected on PokemonDB.

The top of each mega evolution's page says something like one of these, but it seems like most (if not all) are missing gen 7.

Steelix has a Mega Evolution, available in Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire and Pokémon Go.

Heracross has a Mega Evolution, available in Generation 6 games.

Do you mean Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee? Yes I should add that to the Kanto mega evos, but Steelix/Heracross are not available in those games.
No, I meant Sun, Moon, Ultra Sun, and Ultra Moon.

Dragonair and Dragonite are listed as not having any egg moves in SwSh. For consistency with the rest of PokemonDB they should have the same egg moves as Dratini.

https://pokemondb.net/pokedex/dragonair/moves/8
https://pokemondb.net/pokedex/dragonite/moves/8

Edit: The same problem is present with (at least) the following evolution families.

  • SwSh: Smoochum, Elekid, Magby, Omanyte, Kabuto, Dratini, Zubat, Treecko, Torchic, Mudkip, Aron, Swablu, Nidoran-F, Nidoran-M, Lileep, Anorith, Spheal, Bagon, Gible, Tirtouga, Archen, Tyrunt, Amaura

  • SV: Piplup, Turtwig, and Chimchar, plus all returning evolution families in DLC1 (Phantump, Grubbin, Cutiefly, Bellsprout, Jangmo-o, Munchlax, Hoothoot, Spinarak, Gligar, Slugma, Aipom, Yanma, Swinub, Vullaby, Ekans, Poochyena, Lotad, Seedot, Poliwag, Litwick, Ducklett, Mienfoo, Nosepass, Sentret, Cleffa, Corphish, Feebas, Duskull, Chingling)

It is likely that there are more errors for regional forms (for example, Alolan Vulpix in SV definitely has the same issue), but I haven't checked these exhaustively.

Additionally:

  • Roserade should not have Synthesis as an EM in SwSh (it is only an EM for Budew, not Roselia or Roserade)
  • Male Meowstic should have the same EMs as female Meowstic in SwSh (and probably in Gen 7 too)
  • Lycanroc (Dusk Form) should have the same EMs as the other forms in SwSh and SV

Alolan Grimer, Cacnea, and Luvdisc had egg moves added in the SV DLC, but aren't on PokemonDB yet:

Scale Shot has not been added to the moves that are effected by Skill Link. I no know one who can learn Scale Shot can have Skill Link as an ability but the same is for Barrage which is included.

Tandemaus' evolution method is wrong. The website states that it evolves into Maushold at Level 25, but it actually needs to be levelled up to Level 25 in battle. EXP Candies and Rare Candies won't be enough.

Meganium is said not to have egg moves for Scarlet and Violet https://pokemondb.net/pokedex/meganium but I just tested it out and it can learn Ancient Power, same egg moves as Chikorita. Please add egg moves.

Same with Infernape https://pokemondb.net/pokedex/infernape/moves/9
Egg moves are the same as Chimchar in Scarlet Violet. This is important because of the Mirror Herb that can now be used at any evolution stage to give a pokemon egg moves. This was still capable by putting two of the same species together in the daycare in previous games. But Mirror Herb can now make this much more efficient, especially without the need of Egg Groups.

For both Beautifly and Dustox's location page, in games where only their pre-evolutions are found in the wild, it says they can be obtained by evolving Cascoon and Silcoon respectively, which isn't the case.

There are also plenty of mix-ups with the Pokemon that branch into evolving from their Hisuian forms, saying they evolve from Pokemon that both aren't available in those games and can't evolve from (such as the pages for Weavile, Sneasler, Electrode, Goodra, etc.)

I would actually say this is more than just a minor issue and speaks to an important logic error in the site generally.
Should I rewrite the answer into a question, then? I don't really know what the general grey area between a more major site error or just a minor one that needs fixing is.

TM009 page states that it is Venoshock from generations 6-7 when it should be from generations 5-7.

Similar error on the TM043 page, generations 6-7 should also be generations 5-7.

I don't think this is a big enough error to deserve its own thread, but I could be wrong:

When you go to the page where it shows the locations of tms in the games (and possibly other items as well), it appears to only show the locations for the initial games per region per generation. Yellow, crystal, emerald, and platinum seem to not be listed in the location tables

Correction for pledge moves Water Pledge, Grass Pledge and Water Pledge.

The slow from the Grass Pledge with Water Pledge, the "swamp envelops the foe's team" QUARTERS opponents' speed for 4 turns, not halves.

The damage from the Grass Pledge with Fire Pledge, the "sea of fire envelops the foe's team" damages NON-FIRE TYPE opponents 1⁄8 of their maximum HP each turn, for 4 turns, rather than all opponents.

Also less important to add but the Water Pledge with Fire Pledge, the "rainbow appears in the sky on your team's side" doubles the chance of moves' secondary effects occurring for 4 turns, BUT SPECIFICALLY DOES NOT STACK WITH SERENE GRACE FOR FLINCH CHANCE. This one might be too niche to be worth the edit is still a feature.

2-5 multihit moves were buffed in gen 5 so that their chances to hit 4-5 times are increased. This means that the chances for each number to occur is 7/20, 7/20, 3/20, 3/20
https://m.bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Multistrike_move

illuminate was buffed in gen 9 preventing other mons from lowering your accuracy and ignores their evasion boosts https://m.bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Illuminate_(Ability)

The page for Clangorous Soul (https://pokemondb.net/move/clangorous-soul) is not very specific with the move information. It reads:

"Effects
Raises all user's stats but loses HP. (100% chance)"

There is no mention of the number of stages that stats are raised nor the total amount of HP lost, and the "100% chance" part does not need to be included. To be in line with other stat-boosting moves, the description should read:

"Effects
Clangorous Soul causes the user to lose 1/3 of its max HP, and raises the user's stats (Attack, Defense, Special Attack, Special Defense, Speed) by one stage each."
