Pokémon Sun & Moon, new information (Spoilers!)

Question

Now that the new Pokemon game has been announced, and it's coming out later this year, we're sure to be getting new information frequently! Like the BW2 / XY/ ORAS threads, this is just a place to post extra information that Pokemaster misses.

• First check the basic pages here.
• Like before, only add information that Pokemaster missed and it's been a few days. He is usually aware of most new information as it happens. Don't forget to check the Sun & Moon page above as well as the news on the front page.
• Game stuff only, not anime (unless it relates to the games, e.g. new Pokemon appeared in the anime before it was revealed in the games).
• Reliable sources only i.e. official sites like pokemon.com and pokemon.co.jp. Bulbapedia and Serebii are usually good also. No rumours! Please don't make any post without citing it as well. No youtube videos! (besides official ones)
• Maximum 2 images per answer and not huge ones. You can add links to more images.
• Please keep the plot spoilers very low, thanks.
• Note that answers are usually hidden once the news has been posted.

Wow, they got announced. Damn. Is it a new gen or just more gen 6?

We're not sure yet. Fans speculate that it is Gen 7, or Gen 6.5. We'll have to wait and see, but a new gen to celebrate the 20th anniversary would be pretty sweet.

The logos look fairly similar to ORAS and XY, so I don't think it would be a new generation. I want it to be though.

Mega/Primal Cresselia and Darkrai (not cover legends though) or maybe a Fusion between the two? Just speculation.

Cresselia and Darkrai are pretty old :/ but if Darkrai is in Moon, then I'm guaranteed to get it. Eternal night sounds awesome as well, I always prefer darkness over brightness.

I say some bad team is gonna wake some legendary, they will cause some imbalance, something will blow up, and Zygarde's true form will come and save the day.

Some speculation:
- Darkrai and Cresselia are unlikely to be mascot legendaries of Sun & Moon, as they are both related to the moon.
- Most people speculate it's Generation 7. As you may know, RBY on the virtual console will be able to be stored in Pokemon Bank and transferred to Sun & Moon. Later details say that Pokemon from XYORAS will be transferred in the same way. Although nothing is said about the 2-way transfer between Sun & Moon and XYORAS, it is quite likely to be 7.

We'll probably get Megas of Umbreon, Espeon, Solrock, Lunatone, and possibly Volcarona or Clefable.

Maybe Sun will give us version exclusives that evolve with Sun Stone, and Moon will give us version exclusives that need a Moon Stone to evolve. That'd be interesting, even if the counterpart stone is common.

I saw an ORAS emulator that had mega Milotic programmed into it. Emulators don't usually add new data, do they? Is there really unused code in ORAS for mega Milotic? Just thought it might be worth mentioning.

There's been quite a bit of new Sun & Moon info today, which can be found in Pokemon's new YouTube video in the link below.

It seems that you will be brought to Alola (The new region) be your cousin, who's apparently named Kukui.
The region seems to be tropical, similar to Hawaii. (Which. in my opinion, is probably where the region is based off of, as Alola is spelled very similarly to Aloha.)
The starter Pokemon are an Owl, Cat, and Seal named Rowlet, Litten, and Popplio respectively.
Rowlet is typed with Grass and Flying, making it the second first form of a starter Pokemon to be dual typed.
Litten is Fire type, Popplio is Water.
The legendary Pokemon have been revealed, but nothing more than their design and which game they will appear in.
The set release date for Sun & Moon is November 18, 2016.

Type: Grass/Flying
Species: Grass Quill Pokemon
Height: 1'00"
Weight 3.3 lbs.
Ability: Overgrow
Possible PokeDex entry: Rowlet can attack without making a sound! It flies silently through the skies, drawing near to its opponent without being noticed, and then lashing out with powerful kicks. It can also attack from a distance using the razor-sharp leaves that form part of its feathers.

Litten:
Type: Fire
Species: Fire Cat Pokemon
Height: 1'04"
Weight: 9.5 lbs.
Ability: Blaze
Possible PokeDex entry: Logical but also passionate, Litten always remains coolheaded and doesn't show its emotions on the surface.

Poppilo
Type: Water
Species: Sea Lion Pokemon
Height: 1'04"
Weight: 16.5 lbs.
Ability: Torrent
Possible PokeDex entry: Popplio's swimming speed is known to exceed 25 mph. It's better at moving in the water than on land. Still, when it's on land, it takes advantage of the elasticity of its balloons to perform acrobatic stunts and jumps.

I think that's all the info there is right now.

Once again guys it seems we need to say it again. Only post new information if its been a while since it was revealed and Pokemaster hasn't updated the home page. Chances are Pokemaster saw it and hasn't had time to add it to the main page yet.

A little something I noticed, Mimikkyu's name is a phonetic spelling of "Mimic You," and it supposedly mimics Pikachu dolls in order to be loved.

Trevor and Tierno were terrible and absolutely useless, but Shauna and Serena were okay.

I liked the X and Y rivals (well, friends is a better term). They reflected all sides of playing Pokemon. Serena aimed to be the best, Shauna aimed to love her Pokemon or whatever and Trevor aimed to catch them all. And I think Tierno was there for comedy relief? I even liked how Cheren kept on going but Bianca stopped her training in BW. I don't know, the more, the merrier imo.

When will there be an important NPC who admits that knowledge and strategy are just as important as aiming to be the best? Until it happens, nobody will reflect all sides of playing Pokemon.
