Why does it let me select answers on questions that i have not asked?

It doesn't/ shouldn't. Do you have examples of when this occurred? I can't find them.

I never did select one but on a selected answer the green check mark saying select pops up.

Questions with selected answers are supposed to have the green checkmark visible to everyone. You can’t actually deselect the answer unless you’re a mod. Here, you can try on one of my questions: https://pokemondb.net/pokebase/326114
On the off chance that there is a problem with the site, I should be able to just select it again.
