Hi everyone. The staff team got together and discussed ways to improve the quality of the moveset threads. While the quality of the moveset threads have gotten better, we still have a long way to go make the movesets on the moveset threads to have the best quality and content. Let us know what you think of these new changes, as we'll be enforcing them in the next couple of weeks.
1: Images are required on moveset posts
You must post an image whenever you post a moveset on a moveset thread. Oftentimes, people will skip the moveset they're looking for, and it's all because the moveset they're looking for didn't have an image. Having an image with moveset posts will allow the visual people to have something to look at whenever they look for a certain moveset.
2: Longer Descriptions
We'll be requiring longer descriptions, so descriptions must now be longer than 2 sentences. 2 sentences aren't always enough to justify your choices on the moveset you post. We haven't come up with the new minimum requirement yet, so input from the community will be appreciated.
3: Say what coverage moves actually hit instead of just saying "x move is for coverage"
Sometimes people either just say that a non-STAB move on a moveset is for coverage without expanding on what the move hits, or they don't mention the moves at all and explain other parts of the moveset. Moveset posts should explain what Pokemon the coverage move hits (or certain types if the set you post doesn't have a specific format), as movesets may not always need the coverage if another move hits the desired targets. You should also be able to justify the moves of the moveset you post, so this shouldn't be too problematic.
4: Kinds of images used to accompany moveset posts
Regarding the kinds of images used for moveset posts, you must use 144x144 screenshots of old gen sprites. Once again, this is important to the visual users of the site. Having a large image to accompany a moveset post will surely catch the attention to viewers looking for certain movesets.
5: New importable formatting for movesets
To make PokemonDB have another niche that other Pokemon websites have, we request users no longer write in showdown-importable format. Instead, please use Pokebase-importable:
I want [Pokemon] with [item]
Make sure it has [nature], [ability], [EVs/EVs/EVs], [Move 1, Move, 2, Move 3, Move 4]
Give moveset to me by [date you want moveset made]
Regarding formatting for descriptions, we decided that users should use some fun formatting for the descriptions other than some long paragraph or essay. You can do something like a letter to request that Arceus someone will create the moveset you want. Maybe you can do it in the form of a song, text messages, wishlist, etc. The possibilities are endless.
6: Final image instruction
All images accompanying moveset posts must be greyscale in order to make the site accessible to colorblind people.
And that's all of the changes we came up with. In the meantime while we wait for Pokemaster to respond, feedback to these changes and your input of rules changes is appreciated to make sure the moveset threads have the best quality posts.
