Torterra
Torterra @ Leftovers
Nature: Impish
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Spe

  • Wood Hammer
  • Earthquake
  • Roar
  • Stealth Rock

Wood Hammer provides a solid STAB option, with a nice base power.
Earthquake is also a good move, and has pretty good coverage and it STAB.
Both moves give Torterra to to respectable damage to Pokemon that doesn't resist the combination.
Roar allows Torterra to phaze out Pokes who try to set up on it, and Stealth Rock help rack up damage.
If you want, a specially defensive spread of 252 HP / 252 SpD / 4 Spe can also be used to take special hits better, this depends on the team.

Double Dance

Torterra

Torterra @ Leftovers
Ability: Shell Armor
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Rock Polish
- Swords Dance
- Earthquake
- Seed Bomb

Uses Torterra's resistances and good bulk to create chances to use both boosting moves. Flying-types in particular need to be cleared before attempting the sweep.

- Torterra (M) @ Choice Band
Ability: Overgrow
EVs: 96 HP / 252 Atk / 160 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake
- Wood Hammer
- Superpower

Choice Banded hard hitter Torterra.
Sp Def ev's even out defenses, maxed attack, with a few in Hp.
Wood Hammer hits insanely hard, at the price of a good bit of your Hp, so be it.
Earthquake is STAB, covers a lot of types, etc.
Stone Edge is coverage, mainly for Ice and Flying, while Superpower is that last hit coverage that everyone loves and despises at the same time.

Torterra
Torterra @ Yache Berry
Ability: Overgrow
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 SpD
Brave Nature
- Wood Hammer
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Leaf Storm / Outrage / Crunch / Stealth Rock

  • Wood Hammer - Gains STAB and has a crazy 120 base power.
  • Earthquake - Epic move that gains STAB.
  • Stone Edge - For coverage.
  • Leaf Storm / Outrage / Crunch / Stealth Rock - Yes, he has more Attack than Special Attack. That why this is here. Once you use Leaf Storm, Torterra's Special Attack lowers harshly. The other 3 moves are Physical so don't will change much and is a Strong move!! If you don't like Leaf Storm go with Outrage. If you don't like both go with Crunch. Stealth Rock can be used too for support.

Gen 9 NU Shell Smash

Torterra @ Loaded Dice
Ability: Overgrow / Shell Armor
Tera Type: Rock
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Shell Smash
- Headlong Rush
- Bullet Seed
- Rock Blast

Since no one has posted a Shell Smash set for Gen 9 yet, here's one it can use in Gen 9 NU. Since Torterra can use Shell Smash to boost its offensive stats and speed in Gen 9, it can become a cringe potent sweeper that can clean through teams. Torterra also has a stronger Ground STAB in Headlong Rush, which is basically a Ground type version of Close Combat. The defense drops don't really matter due to the power Headlong Rush has over Earthquake. Bullet Seed is used for the Grass STAB since this set uses Loaded Dice as the item, making Bullet Seed a 100BP or 125 BP Grass STAB that hits multiple times. :D Rock Blast is used with Loaded Dice to hit 4 or 5 times, making it useful coverage move against Flying-types such as Talonflame, Noivern, Kilowattrel, Thundurus, and Altaria, as well as dealing super effective damage against Avalugg. The ability doesn't really matter. Overgrow lets you have potentially powerful Bullet Seeds if you're in Overgrow range, while Shell Armor is used to prevent Torterra from getting hit by a critical hit. Tera Rock is used to make Rock Blast a STAB move, which is useful against Avalugg.

Ok, I'll write a good moveset for each Generation that Torterra was in.

Gen IV

Torterra @ Leftovers enter image description here

Ability: Overgrow

Nature: Adamant

EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Def / 4 HP

  • Earthquake - STAB, very powerful, and gives coverage over Fire-types
  • Seed Bomb - STAB and pretty powerful
  • Stone Edge - Very powerful, and gives Torterra coverage over all of its weaknesses, Flying, Fire, Bug & Ice
  • Swords Dance / Curse - (Swords Dance) Combined with Torterra's great Attack stat, this makes him one hell of a dangerous Pokémon. (Curse) It raises Torterra's Attack stat and Defense stat by 1 stage each, which can be really useful, although it does lower Torterra's Speed

Gen V

Torterra @ Leftovers enter image description here

Ability: Overgrow

Nature: Adamant

EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Def / 4 HP

  • Earthquake - STAB, very powerful, and gives coverage over Fire-types
  • Seed Bomb - STAB and pretty powerful
  • Stone Edge-Very powerful, and gives Torterra coverage over all of its weaknesses, Flying, Fire, Bug & Ice
  • Swords Dance / Curse-(Swords Dance) Combined with Torterra's great Attack stat, this makes him one hell of a dangerous Pokémon. (Curse) It raises Torterra's Attack stat and Defense stat by 1 stage each, which can be really useful, although it does lower Torterra's Speed*

Gen VI

Torterra @ Leftovers enter image description here

Ability: Overgrow

Nature: Adamant

EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Def / 4 HP

  • Earthquake - STAB, very powerful, and gives coverage over Fire-types
  • Seed Bomb - STAB and pretty powerful
  • Stone Edge - Very powerful, and gives Torterra coverage over all of its weaknesses, Flying, Fire, Bug & Ice

Okay, so I put a lot of thought into my Torterra,

Torterra
Ability: Overgrow
EVs: 252 Atk / 128 SpA / 128 Spe
Naive Nature
- Giga Drain
- Wood Hammer
- Earthquake
- Crunch / Stone Edge / Rock Slide

  • Giga Drain ~~~~~ STAB, restores health from recoil on Wood Hammer
  • Wood Hammer ~~~~~ Strong STAB move, but at the cost of recoil, solved ^^^^
  • Earthquake ~~~~~ STAB, strong move
  • Crunch / Stone Edge / Rock Slide ~~~~~ type coverage

Heres a stally set I like using. Not the greatest set but can work so I decided to post it anyway if someone wants try something a little bit different.

Torterra @ Leftovers
Ability: Shell Armor
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Impish Nature
- Leech Seed
- Sand Tomb
- Protect
- Synthesis

Just trap your opponent with Sand Tomb and use Leech Seed on them. Spam Protect and heal yourself with Synthesis when necessary until Leech Seed and Sand Tomb's damage eventually kills them.

Torterra @ Leftovers
Ability: Shell Armor
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Wood Hammer
- Earthquake
- Superpower
- Stone Edge

Wood Hammer is a powerful STAB move along with Earthquake, which is also effective against Fire. Superpower is there for some coverage AND Stone Edge is the move you're gonna use if they send out your weakness BUT its a doubles match and your teammate is an Electric type which is unlikely but still.

This is the set Vizually used, so I'll just put it since it's pretty good.
Torterra @ Weakness Policy
Ability: Shell Armor
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Seed Bomb/Wood Hammer
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Rock Polish
Seed Bomb is Grass STAB, but if you want more power, Wood Hammer is great, but comes at the price of recoil. Earthquake is ground STAB. Stone Edge covers every single weakness it has. Rock Polish is there so you can be a fast, hard-hitting turtle with a tree on its back. Obviously, this mon will die to Lillie's Alolan Vulpix, so screens are required so it can tank a hit and activate its Weakness Policy.

I done sets for the Kanto, Johto and Hoeen starters, now it's Sinnoh time.
Torterra
GEN VII
Torterra @ Leftovers/ Big Root
Ability: Overgrow
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 HP / 4 SDef
Nature: Adamant
- Wood Hammer
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
- Leech Seed/ Synthesis

Wood Hammer and EQ are STAB
Rock Slide is a almost nesessary coverage move
The healing move is due to the Wood Hammer recoil

Torterra set

Torterra @ Leftovers
Ability: Overgrow
EVs: 6 HP or Spe / 252 Atk / 252 Def
Relaxed Nature (I don't like speed decreasing natures but I have to do it)
- Stone Edge / Giga Drain
- Stealth Rock
- Wood Hammer
- Earthquake

Stone Edge / Giga Drain: Stone edge for fire types but stone edge may miss giga drain for health they're both STAB
Stealth Rock: Entry hazards
Wood Hammer: STAB
Earthquake: do I need to explain

I've tried this set before but I just keep forgetting to set up stealth rocks because I thought I would get one shot.

Torterra @ Loaded Dice / White Herb
Ability: Shell Armor
Tera Type: Steel/Poison/Fire/Ghost
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Bullet Seed
- Rock Blast
- Shell Smash
- Headlong Rush / Earthquake

You need to have a description that explains the set.
