Lucario (M) @ Air Balloon
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- High Jump Kick
- Shadow Claw
- Ice Punch
____

This is my physical Lucario.

Jolly + 252 Spe lets him out speed what he needs to, tons of threats.
Air Balloon won't be broken by Stealth Rock, and will let him by pass his Earthquake weakness... for a turn. In that turn, you can set up Swords dance.

Jolly will carry you speed wise for a while, if someone switches out from something like a choiced Earthquaker, or something that just generally isn't as good.

Hi Jump Kick is his most powerful possible STAB attack, Close Combat can be used too, but I use Hi Jump kick for the extra power, and to lure foes into my....

Shadow Claw. Ghost + Fighting + Ice won't be not very effective or not effective at all on any Pokemon. Shadow Claw is primarily there for the ghosts that will come out after you use Hi Jump Kick, or possibly be switched into to screw you up ( - 50% ).

Ice Punch is for dragons and ground types, you can hit them pretty darn hard.

Possible Subs:

Hi Jump Kick could be subbed out for Close Combat.
Swords Dance or Ice Punch could be subbed for Extreme Speed or Bullet Punch, but I really don't reccomend doing that, this set runs without priority mainly.

How about Crunch over Shadow Claw? Crunch hits only one less Pokemon for a Super-effective hit, and with 10 more base power and a better secondary effect, Crunch is better than Shadow Claw. Also, I'd say Steadfast is better than Inner Focus.
A. I just like the Crit rate, Crunch is always an option.
B. I'd rather just not flinch and move on sometimes, because they still get their free damage, and I just get a speed boost the other way around. Instead it's more like they wasted a turn.
Either way, they're both viable options.
Did you guys know that Lucario is not actually weak to Psyhic, Flying and Ghost types? It is only weak to Fire, Fighting and Ground.

Now this moveset I like, this Lucario moveset is the true artform of combat. I would use Close Combat instead of Hi Jump Kick though, for obvious reasons. And because nothing is more Lucario-like than Close Combat and Aura Sphere. I'm not sure I would use Swords Dance, I'd probably go for something defensive, that ensures my Lucario will be safe from what ever the opponent is throwing at me.
Thank you for posting this Moveset.
I think lucario needs a more reliable fighting move than hi jump kick.
Add Aura sphere
Trachy, Inner Focus is better. You don’t want your Lucario to flinch. It has to hit back immediately.
Flinches are so rare it doesn't really matter.
Why no STAB Steel type move?
Really good moveset, but I think you should switch out Hi Jump Kick for Close Combat, but this is just my opinion.
Perhaps it might be better to use Meteor Mash instead of Ice punch. If you use Lucarionite your stab is boosted when mega evolving since it’s ability is Adaptability.
This moveset was posted in 2011, which means Lucarionite didn't exist back then and (correct me if I'm wrong) Lucario didn't get Meteor Mash yet.
Oh sorry, didn’t realise.
use lucarionite instead of baloon and hone claws SD and this will be perfect

The unexpected special set

Lucario @ Lucarionite
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Nasty Plot
- Flash Cannon
- Aura Sphere
- Dark Pulse

Alright lemme explain.
People like to start off with a stally Pokemon such as Giratina so that gives you free time to set up Nasty Plot because they think it will be the standard physical set but it isn't. After that, I really don't need to explain but here it is anyway. Dark Pulse because Aegislash and Giratina. Flash Cannon because Xerneas likes to set up and won't give it a chance. Aura Sphere is STAB and can OHKO a Genesect after a Nasty Plot.

I love sets that are usually worse than normal sets. So this is awesome
How about vacuum wave for priority? Other than that this set is awesome.
How do I get Nasty Plot on Lucario?
you need to have it learn it as a Riolu through level up and then Evolve it to Lucario.

Lucario (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- High Jump Kick
- Earthquake
- Extreme Speed
- Ice Punch

High Jump Kick is outstanding on Lucario. It's very powerful plus it gets the STAB boost, and Adamant Nature boost. Say hello to your High Jump Kick Sweeper :P. Earthquake is excellent coverage, it hits many types of Pokemon and packs a punch. Extreme Speed Is for when you know you can't OHKO a Pokemon and get a priority hit in before Lucario faints. Ice Punch covers your deadly Ground weakness. Trust me, you would want to keep this move on him.

Replace hi jump kick with aura sphere, and ice punch ( Tutor only ) with a damageing steel move
This is a physical set dude Hi Jump Kick is more powerful little risk high reward
Id replace ice punch with swords dance if i were u.
This is a Scarf set, so having Swords Dance isn't useful on this set.
Wouldn't having a choice scarf eliminate the need for priority extreme speed?

Lucario (M) @ Lucarionite
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Close Combat / Focus Blast / Aura Sphere
- Bullet Punch / Extreme Speed
- Meteor Mash / Iron Tail / Earthquake / Bone Rush / Stone Edge
- Swords Dance / Work Up

- Close Combat One of Lucario's best physical STAB moves, OHKOing the likes of Kyogre-Primal, Zygarde, Yveltal, Non-resistant Arceus Forms, Ferrothorn, and Chansey after a boost. (Yeah, a lot of Pokemon).
- Aura Sphere / Focus Blast Special STAB, Choose Aura Sphere for more accuracy or Focus Blast for more power and can be a nasty surprise to physically tanky switch-ins expecting a completely physical lucario.
- Bullet Punch / Extreme Speed For priority and/or STAB coverage against fairies if your running Bullet Punch. One downside to running this set with extreme speed is that you can be potentially walled by ghost types if you don't have the right coverage, so instead your 2nd move slot can be dedicated to bullet punch which after a boost, can handle those ghosts and fairies.
- Meteor Mash / Iron Tail One of Lucario's most powerful physical steel type STAB is Meteor Mash, being 2nd in power only to Iron Tail, but the difference in accuracy and power ratio is what makes meteor mash the better option, plus it has the added chance to boost your attack even further though if you're battling in Gen 6 or older, Iron Tail is your only real option since Meteor Mash is given to Lucario in Gen 7.
- Earthquake / Bone Rush - Great option to use against Toxapex and can be used as a means of KOing steel types without worrying about the lower power of Aura Sphere or the subpar accuracy of Focus Blast, but other than that it's uses are pretty limited and you are giving up one your strongest Adaptability boosted Steel STAB moves in Iron Tail and Meteor Mash. Bone Rush has the small chance to hit 5 times for a total power of 125, but Earthquake is more reliable, has higher accuracy, and is generally more recommended for competitive use.
- Stone Edge Is a great move to counter your biggest check Ho-Oh, and handle other flying types that resist your Fighting STAB, but that's pretty much all it can be used for and Lucario doesn't appreciate giving up any of it's other moves.
- Work Up / Swords Dance - Gives Lucario a boost that may allow him to potentially sweep. Swords Dance is the more reccomended option because work up will take at least two turns in order to get the 2x Atk and 2x SpA boost which gives the opponent the opportunity to KO Lucario.

Lucario is essentially struggles with finding room to set up, which is why it is used best as a Late-Game Cleaner, after it's own threats have been weakend down to where Lucario wouldn't need to set up in the first place. It relies on priority to KO Pokemon that naturally out speed it due to faster Pokemon generally tending to be frailer and fall to boosted priority, anything slower is destroyed with Close Combat, Aura Sphere, Meteor Mash, etc, etc. A Hazard Setter is also great way to weaken Lucario's checks and allow it to clean more efficiently.

just so you know, Focus Blast is Lucario's strongest Fighting special STAB, not Aura Sphere. Also, 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe is generally better for a mixed attacker as Speed is as important as anything.
what about close combat?
Okay, but sense its mixed I think it should have close combat as an option too, the set is great btw :)

This guy is one of my favorite Pokemon. He has a great move pool, great stats, and is very versatile.

Physical Sweeper

Lucario @ Wide Lens
Ability: Justified
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- High Jump Kick
- Ice Punch
- Hone Claws
- Stone Edge

High Jump Kick - Lucario's most powerful physical Fighting move
Ice Punch - coverage against Ground types
Hone Claws - boost your Attack and accuracy
Stone Edge - High power coverage against Fire types

Special Sweeper

Lucario @ Wise Glasses
Ability: Steadfast
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Aura Sphere
- Shadow Ball / Dark Pulse / Hidden Power [Ice]

Aura Sphere - Lucario's most powerful special fighting move
Shadow Ball / Dark Pulse / Hidden Power [Ice] - more coverage
Nasty Plot - boost your Special Attack
Dragon Pulse / Psychic - coverage

Suggestion for physical: Nice strategy with the Wide Lens, but HJK covers both the types Iron Tail covers, and HJK gets STAB AND a higher base power anyway. So lose the Iron Tail for Blaze Kick or something like that for more coverage. Same with Flash Cannon for the special one, go with Shadow Ball, or Dark Pulse for flinching. Can't believe I haven't answered this Q myself.
thanks for your suggestion I'll definitely put those moves in my moveset
And BTW, Nasty Plot doesn't raise accuracy. Only Hone Claws does that kind of thing. Be careful when you cut+paste stuff like that, as I'm pretty sure you did.
I just made the changes. Thanks to both of you for spotting my mistakes and making your suggestions.
Same person Lol

Lucario @ Life Orb / Focus Sash
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- High Jump Kick
- Hone Claws / Swords Dance
- Bone Rush / Earthquake
- Ice Punch

High Jump Kick is the best Fighting move Lucario has access to. Hone Claws gives better Attack and the accuracy boost makes up for Highs Jump Kick's lesser accuracy. Sword Dance is also a good option. Bone Rush/Earthquake are just good physical coverage. Ice Punch can take out those stubborn Dragon types.

  • Magnet Rise, no more Ground weakness XD

I have way more sets, but I'll be raged at for 4 sets, let alone 6, so I'll stop here...
Also, watch out for Ghost-types when using sets 2-6... they'll hit hard. I mean it.
Hope any of these helps!

Undoing other people's pedantic edits on my five-year-old answer.

Lucario @ Lucarionite
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 136 Def / 120 Spe OR 252 Atk / 136 SpD / 120 Spe
Adamant / Jolly Nature
- Hone Claws
- High Jump Kick
- Metal Claw
- Sky Uppercut

Moveset-

  • Hone Claws- (TM01)
Raises Attack and Accuracy to make sure your moves will hit hard!
  • High Jump Kick - (Egg Move)
Can be used right after Hone Claws- with the boost in Accuracy and Attack, this move will deal tons of damage to the opponent, not yourself.
  • Metal Claw- (Learns at Lv.1) / Bullet Punch- (Egg Move)
Use this for STAB and to KO a weakened foe.
Metal Claw for additional effect and more power, Bullet Punch for priority.
  • Sky Uppercut- (Egg Move) / Close Combat- (Learns at Lv. 1 & Lv.55)
Hit the opponents in the air or hit hard with Close Combat!

This would be a physical Lucario, all with STAB moves, which can be used with much power thanks to Mega Lucario's Adaptability Ability, making High Jump Kick have an huge power of 260!

Special Lucario build

Lucario @ Focus Sash
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Nasty Plot
- Psychic
- Vacuum Wave
- Flash Cannon

Nasty Plot combined with Focus Sash is always good to use, as it boosts Special Attack, which helps power up Lucario's moves while not getting OHKOed by Earthquakes or Flamethrowers. (If no hazards are present in the battlefield)
Psychic helps tackle Fighting types which pose a threat to it.
Vacuum Wave is STAB Priority and should be used after Nasty Plot becomes stronger.
Flash Cannon is obvious STAB, and helps in taking down Fairy types.

Set for Mega-Lucario fans that don't mind using it over Mega-Rayquaza:
National Dex Anything-Goes

Lucario-Mega @ Lucarionite
Ability: Adaptability
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Steel Beam
- Vacuum Wave
- Nasty Plot
- Hidden Power [Rock]

This set works for only National Dex AG where you can use Mega Evolution, along with Hidden Power which weren't possible in Gen 8. Steel Beam is a new thing this brute monster got, so let's see how it annihilates teams.

Steel Beam is 140 BP move becoming 280 because of Adaptability boosted STAB, thus annihilating anything that comes in your way. Nasty Plot makes you hit like a nuke, +2 Steel Beam doing insane amount of damages and OHKOing almost everything that doesn't resist it. Hidden Power [Rock] is for Ho-Oh which resists both of your STAB. Vacuum Wave is priority, while Nasty Plot boosts your already awesome 140 SpA to even higher levels.

  • +2 252 SpA Adaptability Lucario-Mega Steel Beam vs. 248 HP / 252+ SpD Yveltal: 470-554 (103.2 - 121.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO
  • +2 252 SpA Adaptability Lucario-Mega Steel Beam vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Rayquaza-Mega: 644-758 (183.4 - 215.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO
  • +2 252 SpA Lucario-Mega Hidden Power Rock vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Ho-Oh: 384-452 (108.7 - 128%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Now you can see. It OHKOes almost everything after a Nasty Plot boost, and nothing except wicked Ditto can revenge kill it because of Webs.
Combined with Sticky Webs, Mega-Lucario outspeds Calyrex-Shadow, Scarf Kyogre, Zacian-Crowned and everything else. Mega Lucario is highly underestimated over the AG dominating Mega-Ray but unlike it Mega Lucario wins over Arceus-Fairy and other checks/counters of Mega-Ray. Having a ghost-type immune to yourself to improof from Ditto is also recommended.

I used to use this guy, till I found out about mega lopunny ;D

Physical Set

Lucario (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Bullet Punch
- Crunch
- Close Combat
- Earthquake / Extreme Speed

Special Set

Lucario (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Flash Cannon
- Aura Sphere
- Dark Pulse
- Psychic

Lucario has a nice type, Steel covering its Fighting weaknesses. Nice movepool, with good set up moves. I personally wouldn't run a Lucario with Swords Dance/Nasty Plot because of it's poor defenses. Really, only use them on a predicted switch. Gotta always have STAB moves in my opinion, which is why Steel and Fighting moves are in both sets. Could replace one with Stone Edge, for those gross Flying types. I prefer the physical Lucario, but who knows. Maybe because of double priority moves. The Dark moves are for those Ghosts/Psychics that threaten to switch into his Fighting moves.

Just realized how long this is oops, have a nice day and hope I helped!!

I know this sounds kind of stupid and I barely use this, but I want to see what everyone else thinks of it.
Mixed Lucario:

Lucario @ Focus Sash
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 136 Atk / 120 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty /Naïve Nature - doesn't matter
- Aura Sphere
- Meteor Mash
- Extreme Speed
- Work Up

Once again, laugh at me all you want, I know mixed attackers are dumb. But still, I use this as a lead sometimes and I actually have swept a couple of teams with it. Work Up raises both attacking stats, Aura Sphere is the classic special fighting move and Extreme Speed for priority. Meteor Mash is also STAB and it has a 10% chance to raise its Atk by one (as of gen 8) and the nature doesn't matter cuz the sash is there. I used Inner Focus instead of Steadfast because if you run into a Weavile with Fake Out or something then you're pretty much finished. I still know it's dumb. :P

Singles physical revenge killer to counter a high-damage, high-HP sweeper
Lucario
Lucario @ Focus Sash
Ability: Justified
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
IVs: 0 Def / 0 SpD
Hasty Nature (+Spe/-Def)
- Counter
- Reversal
- Extreme Speed
- Bullet Punch

by

Counter is chosen instead of Close Combat because it deals *direct damage* which ignores a variety of potential mitigating factors (type resistance, boosted defense, screens, abilities like Prism Armor, etc.). The tradeoff is that your opponent must use a damaging move for Counter to do anything. Fortunately, most status moves (e.g. Thunder Wave) don't obviate our Focus Sash, and so you can just do Counter again the next turn if they use a status move. Besides, this build is designed to break your opponent's sweep, not to initiate your own sweep unprompted.

God, why are there so many physical sets?! I mean Lucario already has a higher Special Attack. Just sayin.... But yeah. So here's my set. It's a special set, if you haven't found out yet.

Lucario @ Life Orb/ Focus Sash
Ability: Steadfast
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature / Timid Nature
- Calm Mind / Nasty Plot
- Aura Sphere
- Dragon Pulse / Psychic / Flash Cannon
- Dark Pulse

Calm Mind / Nasty Plot- Depends whether you want to go full special sweeper, or balance things out a little. I went with Calm Mind.

Aura Sphere- STAB. Just a great move. Never misses too.

Dragon Pulse- Strong, Special move. Coverage for dragons.

Dark Pulse- Used to piss off Psychic and Ghost types with an unexpected Dark type move. I just love doing that! :3

Other options: Psychic- Covers other Fighting types and Poisons. Poison types will be so P.O.ed that they can't attack you, but you have a super-effective move.... If using this, replace Dragon Pulse.
Flash Cannon- STAB. Also great accuracy. Deals with pesky Ice types such as Sheer Cold using Walreins. (And there goes your win-streak thanks to hax.... ) Again, replace Dragon Pulse if using this.

Well that's it. Rate well!

Lucario (M) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Justified
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- High Jump Kick / Close Combat
- Crunch
- Bullet Punch / Extreme Speed
- Ice Punch / Swords Dance

Physical Lucario works better, I think.

High Jump Kick is amazing power and STAB, making it 195 Base Power, and when super-effective an amazingly strong attack. Close Combat if you don't want to risk the accuracy.

Crunch is for coverage.

Bullet Punch or Extreme Speed is priority, Bullet Punch if you're afraid of Ghosts switching in to take the Extreme Speed.

Ice Punch is for extra coverage, or Swords Dance for attack boosting.

Personally, I think High Jump Kick is to much risk since it does half your HP's damage if you miss to yourself...i would go for a special Attack Lucario:

Lucario @ Focus Sash
Ability: Inner Focus / Steadfast
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 SpD
Rash Nature
- Aura Sphere
- Flash Cannon
- Dragon Pulse
- Dark Pulse

Aura Sphere (STAB, never misses)
Flash Cannon (STAB, can lower Special Defence)
Dragon Pulse (coverage, good BP)
Dark Pulse (coverage, good BP)

You could also use Psychic instead of Dark Pulse because of the higher BP, but I like Dark Pulse because of the flinching chance. It's up to you. With Steadfast, you can raise your Speed unexpectedly if your opponent uses a flinching move... bye bye speedy suckers.

Priority Sweep

Lucario @ Silk Scarf
Ability: Justified
EVs: 156 HP / 252 Atk / 50 Def / 50 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Close Combat
- Extreme Speed
- Bullet Punch

Pairs great with Espeon's dual screens + draws out Dark attack boosts. After 2.5 boosts, Extreme Speed will OHKO just about any sweeper. Defense and HP allows for multiple boosts behind screens. Bullet Punch handles Gengar and Terrakion which would be problematic for Lucario under normal circumstances. Close Combat delivers tremendous power only needed for slower walls. Switch out on Gliscor and Jellicent as they can take a boosted Close Combat or Bullet Punch and either burn or take out Lucario. It handles everything else nicely.

Lucario @ Life Orb / Leftovers
Ability: Justified / Steadfast
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Aura Sphere
- Dragon Pulse
- Flash Cannon
- Calm Mind

Aura Sphere (Basic STAB)

Dragon Pulse (For insurance. Most Dragon Pokemon like Dragonite and Garchomp can learn skills like Earthquake, Flamethrower and Brick Break, which are Lucario's weaknesses)

Flash Cannon (Flash Cannon has a chance to lower the opponent's Special Defense, I think it is a good skill to have if opponent is using walls. You can lower their Special Defense and finish them off with your Special Attack)

Calm Mind (The reason why I choose a Timid Nature is because it adds Speed, so now with Calm Mind you can up Special Defense and Special Attack to boost your sweeping power)

Optional: Heal Pulse (replaces Calm Mind) I never been a true fan of this move but I heard it works well so you might want to try it out.

1)
Lucario @ Choice Specs
Ability: Steadfast
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Aura Sphere
- Dragon Pulse
- Flash Cannon
- Dark Pulse

Aura Sphere (STAB) - For those irritating Double Teamers and Minimizers. Offers a good power of 90 x 1.5 = 135

Dragon Pulse - This should take care of most Dragon-types in one/two hits due to the Choice Specs

Flash Cannon (STAB) - A good STAB move (80 x 1.5 = 120) and also good coverage. Good for lowering Special Defense.

Dark Pulse - Good for OHKOing/2HKOing those annoying Ghost-types because Aura Sphere won't affect them.

2)
Lucario @ Lucarionite
Ability: Steadfast
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Close Combat
- Extreme Speed
- Bullet Punch
- Blaze Kick

Close Combat (STAB) - What's better than bombarding the opposition with a swift fury of punches. BP = 120 x 1.5= 180

Extreme Speed - To outspeed any Pokemon (Priority +2).

Bullet Punch (STAB) - Again to OUTSPEED

Blaze Kick - Unusual, but I like it. Useful for Grass types.

3)
Lucario @ Lucarionite
Ability: Steadfast
EVs: 56 HP / 100 Def / 100 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Roar
- Copycat
- Power-Up punch
- Substitute

Roar - This set is paired with a Pokemon which can learn Stealth Rock and Spikes.

Copycat - After using Roar, use Copycat (which will copy Roar). It ignores Priority.

Power-Up Punch - To take care of the last Pokemon.

Substitute - For protection.
___

All of these Lucario have Steadfast. Lucario is awesome and I recommend it on any team.
