I was looking at Pyroar's stats, and it seemed decently well rounded with quite respectable atk and spe stats. So why is it considered bad? I know the move pool isn't great, but it can provide Dark coverage with Dark Pulse, and utilize Fire STAB, and STAB Hyper Voice. If it uses Substitute, it can avoid getting OHKO'D. Have it hold a Silk Scarf, Choice Specs/Scarf, or Leftovers, it seems Pyroar could be at least Decent. So why is it considered garbage?

Thanks!

In what tier?
You should respond when you're asked to mention the battle format. Asking about "competitive" in general doesn't make much sense, because there are many competitive battle formats where Pyroar could be very good or very bad.
If you want to use Pyroar in a format where it's actually good, I suggest trying Gen 6 NU when it is available as a RoA Spotlight. (It's a challenge only format right now) It is A rank there on the Gen 6 NU Viability Rankings.
Sorry I didn't post the format. (I didn't know, as I I kind of new to competitve)

It doesn't even matter what tier is in question because the answer is still the same. It has very minimal coverage and its SpA is too poor to even scratch Toxapex. Exploud is a viable Pokemon that can outclass Pyroar by a mile in offense, and to remind you, a Specs attacker's thing is to destroy **** and then switch out when its temporary check comes in. However, can you do that with something that has both a stealth rock weakness and relatively low special attack with no super busted strong move to back you up on that? Specs is a pipe dream with that in mind, and a Life orb set will not work either because its as simple as not strong enough and not fast enough. 109 Special Attack just isn't that good, and what you will be outspeeding will just ko you most of the time because you werent't strong enough, and you you can't outspeed will ko you because you weren't fast enough. 342 is kinda eh if you're talking Gen 7 which has got Ashgren and Tapu Koko, and Gen 6 is a more defensive meta with Heatran and Clefable being popular picks.

Thanks! (Pyroar is one of my favs, even though he is very unpopular, so I was hoping he was good in some way)
Sounds like a based ou player answer :P
In all seriousness tho as mm said its good in very low tiers in earlier gens, so the answer isn't really accurate considering there was no specific format said
I know I should have put the format, although I am not to familiar with the formats, as I am just getting into online/competitive. I am working on a team for Gen 8.
Pyroar is not in Gen 8, do you mean National Dex AG?
I just meant when it was available
