Charizard @ Charizardite X
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Dragon Claw
- Fire Punch
- Roost / Filler

Dragon Dance - Boost your Speed and Attack.
Dragon Claw - High power STAB, boosted by Tough Claws.
Fire Punch - Decent power STAB, boosted by Tough Claws.
Any high power contact move works for the last slot. Either that or Roost.

Like I said in another one of your posts, high power attack is not a good enough description. Also earthquake. Run flare blitz over fire punch.

Charizard (M) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Solar Power
EVs: 6 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Solar Beam
- Dragon Pulse
- Air Slash
- Flamethrower

  • Solar Beam: sun team purposes, chosen with choice specs can do high damage with solar power and a poke with drought switched to charizard
  • Dragon Pulse: high damage with choice specs
  • Air Slash: chance to flinch, also high damage with choice specs
  • Flamethrower: chance to burn, increased special attack in the sun with solar power and choice specs

This moveset is what I use in actual game on a sun team to deal high special attack while in the sun, there are other movesets if you don't have a sun team made, but if you do have a sun team made, this moveset is the best I know currently for if you have a char on that sun team!

role: Sweeper

Charizard @ Charizardite Y
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Flamethrower / Fire Blast
- Solar Beam
- Scorching Sands
- Dragon Pulse / Air Slash / Hidden Power [Ice]

Flamethrower/ fire blast is great STAB, and because of drought solar beam is amazing coverage. scorching sands provides even more coverage and dragon pulse/hp ice is for annoying dragon types, if you aren't scared of dragon though you can use air slash for more STAB Coverage. the best part is that there's no setup needed just mega evolve then sweep.

Special Attacker

Mega Charizard Y
I make this set for a user named Mega-Charizard-Y

Charizard @ Charizardite Y
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Solar Beam
- Flamethrower
- Air Slash
- Dragon Pulse

Solar Beam for water types, since when Charizard mega evolves it will have the ability Drought which means Solar Beam doesn't need recharging. Flamethrower for STAB powerful move and boosted power because of Drought. Air Slash for STAB and Dragon Pulse for dragon types who resists Charizard's attacks.

Charizard-Mega-Y @ Charizardite Y
Ability: Solar Power
EVs: 248 HP / 252 SpA / 8 SpD
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Solar Beam
- Blast Burn
- Scorching Sands
- Roost

Solar Beam covering up the serious rock type weakness, Blast Burn as an extremely powerful STAB move, especially in the sun, Scorching Sands for electric type cover, Roost to be annoying and heal up
--_
Charizard-Mega-X @ Charizardite X
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Dragon Claw
- Rock Slide
- Brick Break

Dragon Dance to increase Charizard's Attack, Dragon Claw for a good physical STAB move that pairs well with Tough Claws, Rock Slide hits both targets in Double Battles and also have a 30% chance of Flinching, Brick Break can break Shields like Aurora Veil, Light Screen, Reflect.

This is definitely not my first answer. I've hoped I've helped!

You do realize that their abilities change after mega evolving? Also, this only works in nat dex as it can't learn scorching sands and mega evolve. You need to point that out. Blast burn is a horrible move, as 150 power seems great but the only problem is its actually 75 power because you have to recharge next turn. Flamthrower/heat wave/ fire blast is better. Rock slide gives no coverage, and niether does brick break. Replace them with Roost and flare blitz. Finally, don't choose moves just because of their extra effect. If it's stab it's just an added advantage, but don't choose a move ONLY because of that extra effect.

Fast physical sweeper charizard

Charizard-Mega-X @ Charizardite X
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Flare Blitz
- Dragon Dance
- Thunder Punch
- Outrage / Dragon Claw

  • Flare Blitz: strong stab
  • Dragon Dance: amazing setup move
  • Thunder Punch: water coverage, along with a extra attack choice
  • Outrage/Dragon Claw: Dragon stab, outrage for extra damage and dragon claw to not get locked in
Send it out as your first Pokemon, mega evolve, get one dragon dance because it can tank a good amount of things and sweep. I've 6-0 with this thing many times.

Gen 7/National Dex formats

~MegaCharizardY~ (Charizard) @ Charizardite Y
Ability: Blaze / Solar Power
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Fire Blast
- Solar Beam
- Focus Blast
- Dragon Pulse / Hidden Power [Ice] / Air Slash

Fire Blast in sun+boosted by STAB+ coming off of 417 Special Attack goes fwoosh (see calcs). Solar Beam for coverage against Water and Rock types. Focus Blast is used to destroy Choice Band Tyranitar, the best check to Zard Y, since it removes sunlight and replaces it with sand, boosting its Sp.Def in the process and chipping Charizard, and its Rock typing letting it hit it with a 4x effective Stone Edge or rock slide. Dragon Pulse is there to kill the many Dragon types, HP ice can destroy the Dragon-Flying types that resist all its other attacks. Air Slash is flying-type STAB.

*quick mention: Charizard can be used to good effect on a dual megas team in National Dex AG. (if you're like me and don't use legendaries or mythicals lol). If it mega evolves, it can punch (blast?) holes in teams. If not, it can dynamax, and then set up Max Flare to activate Solar Power. Then, it sweeps. yeah calcs are below

252 SpA Charizard-Mega-Y Fire Blast vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Toxapex in Sun: 116-137 (38.1 - 45%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

252 SpA Charizard-Mega-Y Focus Blast vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Tyranitar in Sand: 408-480 (119.6 - 140.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Enjoy :D

Mega Charizard Y is a Pokemon with amazing offenses and a good speed stat for blitzing through teams. Serperior is a generally shunned grass type in VGC due to being outclassed by Amoonguss, Lucicolo, and others. Greninja is very strong but very frail, and if it doesn't KO its usually game over. These facts only make the following sets even more shockingly unpredictable...

Mega Charizard Y @ Charizardite Y
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 252 HP / 100 Def / 4 SpA / 100 SpD / 52 Spe
Bold / Calm / Timid Nature
- Heat Wave
- Will-O-Wisp
- Tailwind
- Roost / Focus Blast

Heat Wave is still powerful spread even with the main focus being bulk, getting a sun and STAB boost. Will-O-Wisp cripples physical attackers like Landorus-Therian, Tailwind is always useful for speed control, letting offensive allies safely run an Adamant or Modest nature. Roost for healing, Focus Blast for Incineroar and Tyranitar

Serperior @ Sitrus Berry / Light Clay
Ability: Overgrow / Contrary
EVs: 40 HP / 20 Def / 36 SpA / 200 SpD / 212 Spe
Timid Nature
- Taunt / Reflect
- Grass Pledge
- Light Screen
- Glare

Guess what? MORE SPEED CONTROL LOL. Taunt to stop Protect, Reflect to make physical moves even weaker, you'll see why Grass Pledge is here in a moment, Light Screen to halve special damage (Discharge is prevalent after all), Glare to paralyze.

Greninja @ Life Orb
Ability: Protean
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Water Pledge
- Dark Pulse / Surf
- Blizzard / Ice Beam
- Protect

Greninja is a sweeper. Water Pledge + Grass Pledge slows the enemy down even more, leaving them severely crippled, and with Serperior's screens and Charizard's Will-O-Wisp, Greninja isn't useless if it doesn't KO anymore. Dark Pulse to slam Trick Room Pokemon, Surf is spread, Blizzard is also spread but is rather inaccurate so you can go with Ice Beam, which is 100% accurate but weaker and only hits one opponent. Protect to scout and block moves for a turn.

The Mega Charizard Y set is inspired by popular Talonflame sets in gen 6 VGC. Charizard is bulkier, so I use it instead.

Charizard always was a popular and cool pokémon, so much so that it seems to be Game Freak's favorite mon (I mean why else would it get 2 megas and a G-max form?)
Gen VIII PU
Sun Wallbreaker
Charizard @ Heavy Duty Boots/ Choice Specs
Ability: Solar power
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Weather Ball/ Fire Blast
- Solar Beam
- Air Slash/ Overheat
- Focus Blast

This Charizard set is for use on sun teams, as the sun activates Charizard's ability Solar Power, making it really strong, on top of boosting its Fire type moves and making Solar Beam charge in one turn.

Both Fire type moves are STAB and are boosted by the sun. Weather Ball is sligtly less powerful than Fire Blast and it is pratically uselles outside of Sun, but it is far more accurate. Fire blast is more powerful but is more likely to miss.
Solar beam is for coverage against water and rock types, and also charges immediately thanks to the sun.
Air slash is secondary STAB sab and has a chance to flinch, while Overheat breaks most walls apart on Sun, allowing its teamates to finish the rest of the team in the late-game.
Focus Blast is a more reliable coverage move to hit Gigalith thanks to its pesky ability Sand Stream, which takes sun away and replaces it with Sandstorm.

Charizard-Gmax (M) @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Blaze
Gigantamax: Yes
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Fire Punch / Blaze Kick / Flare Blitz
- Fly / Wing Attack
- Earthquake
- Belly Drum

Send it out against a Pokemon you know won't do a lot of damage to you. Once you get off a Belly Drum, Gigantamax this thing and use Max Airstream to boost your speed. Stealth Rock obviously shuts this down, but Heavy-Duty Boots prevents it from taking damage from stealth rock. Fire Punch is very reliable and is pretty strong, but blaze kick gets a +10 in power and a -10 in accuracy. Flare Blitz is powerful and has perfect accuracy, but you can OHKO a maximum of two Pokémon before recoil takes Charizard out. Fly is powerful but has 95% accuracy. If you don't like that, then wing attack is basically the only other option (acrobatics is super situational). Earthquake decimates the rock types that resist both stabs.

by
edited by
A). Why do a physical Charizard when it has a better SpA?
B). (sigh) if you're going to use a Physical Charizard, then at least for your Flying-STAB, suggest using Acrobatics if you're going with Sitrus Berry so that when you eat it, you have no item left and that doubles the power of Acrobatics
C). Again, if you're going with a Physical Charizard, use Flare Blitz instead of Fire Punch! Or if you don't like recoil damage use Blaze Kick! (But I still totally recommend Flare Blitz)
D). Why SpD? Replace it with Def, as most Rock-type moves (Charizard's 4x weakness) are Physical
A) Charizard can be physical since it has belly drum.
B) It is crippled by SR. So Heavy Duty Boots is mandatory.

no objections with C and D
1). You can't boost special attack with Charizard, but you can do solar power if you have a Torkoal or a Ninetales or any other Pokemon with drought.
2). I run Heavy Duty Boots because of Stealth Rock, so unless you run into something with knock off, acrobatics is pretty weak.
3). I don't use Flare Blitz because recoil damage will take you out. Blaze Kick has 90% accuracy, and we all know we can't trust moves with accuracy other than 100%.
4). I really don't care what the other 4 EV's go into, as long as it's not Special Attack.
Are you kidding me?! we all know we can’t trust moves with accuracy other than 100%

Seriously? Like 70% of the moves we use that are Attack moves have accuracy lower than 100%. You can’t say that we can’t trust moves like that. What about Fly? That has 95% accuracy, so if you’re saying that we can’t use moves that has lower than 100% accuracy, then remove it.

Sometimes 4 EVs are helpful. Not always, and never too helpful, but they can be!

There’s just so many stuff wrong with this moveset, and your comment practically makes it worse
- Actually, some moves cannot be trusted and they can have high accuracy. Like how Precipices Blades always screw everyone until they lose.

- I agree that 4 EVs are helpful, but when Showdown generates the last four EV stats, it usually goes to 4 SpD if they are the same. Then that is not entirely his fault.

- Charizard's flying type movepool isn't really good. It can't even learn Brave Bird or Sky Attack!

- Heavy Duty Boots isn't necessary if you're leading off with Charizard
Well if he's gonna use a darn move such as Fire Punch because it has 100% accuracy he might as well throw in Wing Attack for Pete's sake!
bet, imma do a wing attack charizard sweep
DO NOT USE FLARE BLITZ FOR ANY REASON (unless you want to kill Charizard).

(facepalms) you must be really new to pokemon. I guess I'll have to connect the dots for you

Flare blitz only does 33% of the damage done. It won't kill Charizard. heck, like 50% of all pokemon use moves that have recoil damage. it won't kill them! they're powerful moves that can sweep! Wing attack is literally in 'usually useless moves', and fire punch is probably close too. I mean 75 BP ain't too bad, but compared to FLARE BLITZ with almost double the power!?
Since this is supposed to be a Dynamax Sweeper, Flare Blitz is the way to go.  It gives you an additional 10 base power as Max Flare compared to Blaze Kick/Fire Punch.  This is vital for KOing some mons, which is also why Fly is the much better choice over Wing Attack.  With Dynamaxing, you will most likely KO 2-3 mons and then another 1-2 if you use only Flare Blitz.  That is why to use Flare Blitz over the other 2.
Alright guys, thanks for the suggestions!

Charizard @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 252 SpA / 252 SpD / 4 HP
Adamant Nature
- Flamethrower: Power, accuracy and burn
- Thunder Punch: Deals with Water-types
- Dragon Pulse: Dragon coverage
- Air Slash: STAB and flinch

by

Why Adamant with 3 special attacking moves?

Role: Fast special sweeper

Charizard (M) @ Charizardite Y
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Weather Ball
- Solar Beam
- Air Slash
- Dragon Pulse / Ancient Power

Mega Charizard Y summons sun due to its ability Drought. During sun, Weather Ball is actually stronger than Flamethrower. Solar Beam is good against Rock types. Air Slash just in case and Dragon Pulse for Dragon types which resists fire and grass. Ancient power is just for other fire types or flying types.

Sun only lasts for a few turns so you might need switch out and switch in to summon the sun again.

Also, switch out if you meet a primal Kyogre. Kyogre kills Charizard.

Charizard Mega Y

Charizard @ Charizardite Y
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
• Flamethrower / Weather Ball
• Solar Beam
• Dragon Pulse
• Blast Burn

Why Y instead of X? Mega Y has a massive 159 base special attack and Drought ability which destroys almost everything
Flamethrower is stab, deadly with 159 SpA and 50% boost from Drought
Weather ball deals slightly more damage than flamethrower, but damage dies after Drought's effect ends, not a bad choice though
Solarbeam for water and rock coverage
Both fire and grass are weak against dragon type so dragon pulse is good for them
When Drought's effect is over and HP is low, Blast Burn is good for a Final strike
No Air slash because fighting, grass and bug coverage is not really needed

by
edited by
Why hasty over timid? Why blast burn when it has the crippling recharge and you already have fire STAB?
How do you expect to switch in a single time if you don't have Roost? Do you want to get walled by Heatran and Tyranitar? The only Dragon type that can even switch in safely is Dragonite, which can get 2hkoed after multiscale is broken, so Dragon Pulse is unnecessary. Flamethrower, Fire Blast, or Weather Ball are already strong enough as fire moves and Blast Burn cripples you so its redundant

Gen 7 Ubers Drought Sweeper

Charizard @ Charizardite Y
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Fire Blast / Heat Wave
- Air Slash / Dragon Pulse
- Solar Beam
- Dragon Dance / Roost

- Dragon Dance is purely meant for speed so Charizard is able to out speed most threats that would normally just take it out instantly.
- Fire Blast for powerful STAB that can OHKO anything that does not resist it tho its accuracy is low can miss from time to time so sometimes Heat Wave is the better option.
- Air Slash if you wanna try your luck with the flinching rate.

by
edited by
Charizard doesn't have any speed issues, and the attack boost is useless, so Ddance is not good for Charizard Y
zeraora and greninja can both outspeed and kill charizard

Charizard @ Leftovers / Heat Rock
Ability: Solar Power
Modest / Timid
252 SpA / 252 Spe / 4 SpD
- Flamethrower
- Air Slash
- Roost / Will-O-Wisp / Roar
- Sunny Day

Use Sunny Day, then proceed to sweep with Flamethrower and Air Slash. Either heal with Roost, burn with Will-O-wisp, or disrupt with Roar, and you have a highly offensive Pokemon on your team.

Here's my Charizard moveset

Charizard @ Charizardite Y
Ability : Solar Power / Drought
Evs : 252 SpA, 4 HP, 252 Spe
Modest Nature (+SpA -Atk)
- Solar Beam
- Fire Blast
- Ancient Power
- Fly / Scorching Sands

Solar Beam - This move is mainly for coverage for Rock / Water types, Rock types being 4x Super effective and water types being 2x Super Effective and while Solar Beam takes a turn to charge and will fire on the second turn either mega evolving Charizard into mega Charizard Y or running Charizard with solar beam will make it instantly fire when used but preferably you should use Mega Charizard Y as he is then stronger and his ability changes to drought allowing him to instantly use Solar Beam

Fire Blast - This move is for the more bulky Pokemon (namely, Zacian, Aggron, Melmetal, Metagross and Zamazenta and some other fast steel types like Scizor and Lucario) and Fire Blast will also be boosted by Sunny Day / Drought making this move even more devastating than it already is and it is also good if Fire type attacks are neutral with no super effective moves and also has a chance to burn

Ancient Power - I don't feel the need to explain this but let's do it anyway, Good Coverage for Flying types (Gyarados, Pelipper, Maybe even for setting up due to the 10% Omni boost chance) And some dangerous Ice types (Cloyster, Lapras) with moves like hydro pump and whirlpool and it also does high damage and has the added chance to boost all of your Pokemon’s stats

Scorching Sands - Scorching Sands is a great choice for a special charizard as it provides coverage for another dangerous weakness that he has, The electric type. So, to fix that problem charizard lends himself to max speed evs to potentially outspeed some electric types and hit them heavily for huge damage and this may also burn the target then allowing them to receive even more damage the next turn if charizard didn't already one shot them with the 252+ SpA investment

Note : Blaze Or Solar power doesn’t matter if you are running M Char Y but if you are running any other item / Another sun setter use Solar Power as it enhances damage done in sunlight but damages you a bit, Like a built in LO

by
edited by
Fly isn't good on Charizard. Why Thunder Punch with a -Atk Nature? Charizard can't learn Earth Power.
In that case give it Scorching Sands and Ancient Power to still cover Flying types because you have 5 other members and it also has that sweet, sweet 10% omni-boost chance

also i did see someone else comment that charizard can’t learn Scorching sands, Its a move tutor move on him.

And Lastly if you want you can switch out a move for Weather Ball because drought turns it into a slightly less powerful and more accurate move

Okay, even though I am a 12 year old, I have vast Pokemon knowledge. Stats, IVs, EVs, everything. Here is my regular Zard variant.

Charizard
Item- Life Orb/Fire Gem
Ability- Blaze
Evs- 255Spa/255Sp/4HP
Tera Type- Dragon

  • Fire Blast/Overheat/Blast Burn
  • Air Slash/Hurricane
  • Dragon Pulse/Tera Blast
  • Roost

The plan is simple. Life Orb and Fire Gem add even more power to Its Fire and Flying STAB. If you want a hyperattacking variant, and don't mind sacrificing a bit of HP or power, Life Orb+Blast Burn+ Hurricane is the set for you. If you want to play the long game, and are building the team around it, Fire Gem+ Flamethrower+ Air Slash is perfect. Dragon Pulse provide STAB for its Dragon TT, with Tera Blast also being a good option. You may or may not run Roost, depending on yr playing style. You can also alternatively run two fire moves instead of Roost.

by
This set isn't quite much viable because most of the move choices can miss. Tera Dragon isn't quite as good as Tera Ground because of defensive purposes, and Blast Burn isn't really good for a Charizard, unless you want to switch after (you can't). Your EVs are out of wack. Also, where is your Nature?
Is the Fire Gem even in S/V? I swear it wasn't...
https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Fire_Gem

Fire Gem isn't even coded into any game on the Switch, and hasn't been obtainable since B2W2

Charizard @ Charizardite Y
Ability: Blaze --> Drought
EVs: 252 Speed / 252 Special Attack / 4 HP
Nature: Modest
- Flamethrower
- Solar Beam/Scorching Sand/Focus Blast
- Dragon Pulse
- Air Slash

Use it in the starting (Helps to avoid stealth rock damages). Mega evolve it immediately. It will be a clean sweeper. Drought powers up fire moves. High special attack will increase the damage. Solar Beam, Scorching Sand and Focus Blast is good against rock types, Charizard's 4x weakness. Scorching Sand specifically helps in dealing with both electric and rock type Pokémon.

The weaknesses it may face is a higher level opponent (obviously) or electric/rock flying types. Since Solar Beam is a 2 moves attack, it is possible Charizard may be one shot easily by any rock type or electric type move.
