Share your best in-game teams for Pokemon Black and White on this thread! Your team should be aimed toward making casual runs of the game efficient, enjoyable and hassle-free.

Before submitting yours, please read the following guidelines and make adjustments where they fit.

  • Include your recommended Pokemon in your answer, each with recommended moves for use throughout the playthrough. You can include items, abilities, EVs, or natures, but they are not necessary.

  • Remember that players may be unable to access certain Pokemon, such as those restricted by version exclusivity or trade evolutions. If you'd like to suggest a Pokemon like this, please mention alternative/s.

  • Take into account that most players do not want to abuse glitches or the random number generator, or use cheating devices, such as Action Replay. Please do not recommend abusing any of these.

  • Please post original teams. Do not post teams made by other people, such as Youtubers.

  • Consider the unspoken rules of in-game teams, such as to keep the starter on the team, include six Pokemon, or avoid legendaries. You're welcome to suggest otherwise but, again, it's kind to include other options.

  • Provide explanation and detail. Justify your Pokemon and moveset choices; possible discussion points include ease-of-use, team synergy and coverage for key battles.

  • Submit your team as an answer, not a comment. To keep things tidy, we will remove any teams posted as comments in this thread. If you simply want to update your post, use the 'edit' button.

Please note that this thread is for the original Black and White; use this thread for the sequels.

1.Samurott Amazing Physical Attacker and only has two weaknesses, including grass and Electric

Moveset:Surf,Ice beam,Mega horn,Hydro cannon\Hydro pump.

2.Unfezant Great flying type, and just like samurott it is a very very good Physical attacker and decent speed too.

Moveset:Fly,Facade,sky attackU-turn

3.Krookodile Krookodile is good with Not only attack but also defense, plus,it will come in handy when you face chanaul (Even though she is way too easy)

Moveset:Foul play,Outrage,Earthquake/dig,Focus blast.

4.Leavanny Pretty much all of leavanny's stats are good, attack is still it's highest stat this Pokemon will come in handy for Clay,Grimsly, and Caitlin.

Moveset:Leaf storm/Leaf blade,X-scissor,shadow claw,airial ace.

5.Chandelure Since it is a fire/ghost type, normal and fighting type moves don't affect chandelure, and it is a VERY good special attacker

Moveset:Flame charge,psychic,Inferno,shadow ball

6.Haxorus There is one word to describe this thing:BEAST it is also like all other Pokemon on this list,a great physical attacker.

Moveset:outrage,guillotine,dragon claw,Earthquake.

okay, well I hope this long thing helped :D

Pokemon White Team Preview:

Note: This team will not work for Pokemon Black Version.

Emboar - Flare Blitz, Flamethrower, Brick Break, Wild Charge
This starter is good for the game for it's offensive prowess, including it's great move pool. Another good thing to point out is it's great dual typing unlike the other Starter. It is Fire and Fighting, 2 of the best offensive typings in the game. A weakness to point out is the lackluster speed, but other members in the team can help with this issue. If you don't pick Emboar as your starter, then a good fire type option I would recommend Chandelure or Darmanitan.

Carracosta - Shell Smash, Surf, Waterfall, Rock Slide
This will be the essential water type to your team because this will carry 2 HM moves for the team in Surf and Waterfall. Carracosta has good offensive capabilities, but it's best stats is defense. It is also one slowest Pokemon in the team, but thanks to Shell Smash everything changes... Shell Smash will boost your offenses, and speed by 2 stages, but lowers your defenses by a stage, since every move has STAB, this Pokemon will be an offensive threat. Beware that it has 4x weakness to grass. If Samurott was your choice, then a water type is not necessary, if not Seismitoad is also a good option for your water type.

Krookodile - Earthquake, Dig, Crunch, Rock Slide/ Brick Break
A physical threat with decent speed always counts as a powerhouse to the team. This is a great ground type Pokemon having access to strong STAB moves such as Earthquake and Crunch. Make sure to get the ability moxie because moxie will raise it's attack 1 stage after every Pokemon it kills, making it a strong sweeper with a great typing in ground and dark. Rock Slide and Brick Break are used for coverage. If Krookodile is not what you like, then I would recommend Excadrill or Golurk.

Eelektross - Thunderbolt, Wild Charge, Flame Thrower, Brick Break/Dragon Claw/Acrobatic
This Pokemon has good mixed offensive stats, and it has no weakness thanks to levitate making it immune electric's only weakness, ground. Though it lacks in speed, it makes up for it in it's solid defensive stats especially when it has no weaknesses. It has a vast move pool, enough to give any typing of a Pokemon a problem. This will be your Pokemon to deal with other water type Pokemons seeing that there is no grass type Pokemon on the team. If you don't like Eelektross, use Galvantula, zebstrika, Leavanny, Liligant, or pick Serperior as your starter.

Haxorous - Dragon Dance, Dragon Claw, Earthquake, Brick Break/ Rock Slide
The main Sweeper of this team. Just set up 1 Dragon Dance and it's gg, one of the strongest physical Attacking Pokemon in the game with good speed, and solid defense. Mono Dragon type is good typing since it resist many other types. Dragon Claw for STAB, Earthquake for Steel types, and Rock Slide or Brick Break are for dealing with ice types. Druddigon or Hydreigon are other strong dragon types in this game.

Braviary - Fly, Brave Bird, Return/Strength , Superpower
A flying type is always essential for a team, mainly for carrying the HM Fly as well as having that immunity to ground types. Apparently this Pokemon will not be available for Pokemon Black Version, but if you have the White version you are in luck! This will be the last edition to the team since Rufflet won't be available until pretty late in the game and Rufflet evolves at a pretty high level, at lvl 54. If you are willing to train it before the Elite Four, then it will be well worth it. Braviary has great Physical attack stats and a decent speed, and access to some power heavy moves to it's movepool. Fly and Brave Bird are two of the strongest Flying type along with STAB. Return is also powerful along with STAB, but make sure your Pokemon has good happiness to increase the power of return. If you don't like return, then use Strength. Strength is also an HM in the game. Superpower is used for ice and Steel types. If you are not willing to get Braviary, then go with Archeops, Unfezant or Swanna

Warning: This team is extremely weak to fighting type Pokemon, if that bothers some of you, then please go on and make the necessary changes to the team suit the team how you want it. I just wanted to share the team that I used and had success with when I played the game :)

Team Preview: Emboar, Stoutland, Krookodile, Cofagrigus, Sigilyph, Carracosta

Emboar @ Shell Bell
Trait: Blaze

  • Flare Blitz
  • Flamethrower
  • Brick Break
  • Rock Slide

Emboar is a very good starter and has a lot of advantages throughout the game. Flare Blitz does digusting damage but is dangerous towards Emboar aswell so don't always use it, Flamethrower is a very good STAB and Emboar has pretty good Special Attack aswell, Brick Break is Emboar's best Fighting STAB move as Hammer Arm lowers speed and will miss ocasionally and Low Sweep is quite weak and Rock Slide is for coverage.

Stoutland @ Expert Belt
Trait: Intimidate

  • Return/Strength
  • Crunch
  • Ice Fang
  • Thunder Fang

Stoutland may seem like an odd choice but it's actually a very powerful Pokémon with lots of coverage moves. Return gains STAB and does heeps when Stoutland has max happiness but Strength may be more useful as losing happiness will make this move a lot weaker and Crunch, Ice and Thunder Fang are for coverage.

Krookodile @ Muscle Band
Trait: Moxie

  • Earthquake
  • Crunch
  • Rock Slide
  • Dragon Claw

Krookodile is a very strong Pokéon and after one KO will have very good sweeping capabilities with Moxie and Krookodile also has plenty of coverage moves. Earthquake gains STAB and does massive damage and even more after triggering Moxie, Crunch is another STAB move that does very good damage and more after Moxie and Rock Slide and Dragon Claw are for coverage.

Cofagrigus @ Leftovers
Trait: Mummy

  • Shadow Ball/Hex
  • Will-O-Wisp
  • Substitute
  • Grass Knot

Cofagrigus is the tank of the team who has great offensive capabilities aswell and very annoying moves to deal with. Shadow Ball would be your main STAB move but Hex deals double damage to those with a status condition which is why Will-O-Wisp is there, to not only increase Hex's power but to half the foe's attack stat making Cofagrigus even bulkier. Substitute allows you to stall the foe and Grass Knot is for coverage.

Sigilyph @ Wise Glasses
Trait: Magic Guard

  • Psychic
  • Air Slash
  • Shadow Ball
  • Fly/Charge Beam

Sigilyph is a very underated Pokémon who has great stats and a great movepool. Psychic is your main Psychic STAB move and Air Slash is your main Flying STAB move, Shadow ball is for coverage and Fly is a great utility move but Sigilyph has terrible base Attack meaning it won't do much so if your OK with going to the PC to pick up a Flyer and put them back and repeat give it Charge Beam for more coverage.

Carracosta @ Quick Claw
Trait: Sturdy

  • Waterfall
  • Rock Slide
  • Focus Blast
  • Blizzard

Carracosta is a very strong Pokémon both offensively and defensively mainly on the Physical side but also has decent Special Attack. Waterfall is your Water STAB move and Rock Slide is your main Rock STAB move and Focus Blast and Blizzard are for coverage.

I tried to make sure you can obtain all items and TM's before the E4 and I'm pretty sure they all can be.

Lilligant

  • Petal Dance
  • Stun Spore
  • Leech Seed
  • Quiver Dance

Lilligant is still an awesome grass Pokemon that is available in only White. Petal Dance is Powerful STAB. You no need to worry that it will be confused after a few turns because its ability prevents that. Leech Seed is an annoying draining move. Stun Spore is useful for catching Legendaries and wild Pokemon. Quiver Dance gives a nice boost to Lilligant's Sp. Atk, Sp. Def, and Speed.

Sigilyph @ Life Orb
Type : Psychic / Flying
Ability : Magic Guard

Sigilyph

  • Psychic
  • Air Slash

He is probably the best Pokemon for taking on Marshal. He may be a flying Pokemon but he will not be your flyer. He is a great special attacker for your team. Psychic and Air Slash are STABs. Hypnosis is useful move for annoying the target and catching legendaries. Energy Ball is nice coverage.

Darmanitan @ Charcoal
Type : Fire
Ability : Sheer Force

Darmanitan

  • Flare Blitz
  • Hammer Arm
  • Rock Slide
  • Toxic

Darmanitan is an amazing Pokemon with really good Atk stats. Flare Blitz is STAB, and with the help of its ability, Flare Blitz will one hit KO. Rock Slide is coverage. Toxic is annoying status move that takes out the opponent slowly.

Mienshao @ Expert Belt / Nothing
Type : Fighting
Ability : Regenerator

Mienshao

  • High Jump Kick
  • Acrobatics
  • U-turn
  • Stone Edge

Mienshao is great for Grimsley. High Jump Kick is powerful STAB but user takes damage if it misses. If you don't like it, you can choose Brick Break or Drain Punch. U-turn is coverage and for escaping while leaving some damage at the target. Acrobatics is great for Marshal if Mienshao is not holding an item. Stone Edge is coverage.

Golurk @ Muscle Band
Type : Ghost / Ground
Ability : Iron Fist

Golurk

  • Shadow Punch
  • Dynamic Punch
  • Earthquake
  • Fly

Golurk is your flyer. Shadow Punch and Dynamic Punch are great with Golurk's ability Iron Fist. Earthquake is powerful STAB. Fly is coverage and a move for Marshal, also a needed HM. Shadow Punch is STAB. Dynamic Punch is an annoying move for Grimsley. It have only 50 accuracy only unfortunately. If it hits, it will also leave target confused.

I used the I team in black and white and its very effective
Sorry about no pics

  1. Samurott
    Surf
    Razor shell
    Ice beam
    Megahorn

Here is your surfer, Samurott is very offensive and will destroy even electric and grass types with ice beam.
Also ice beam helps with the 8th gym and makes Alder easier to beat.

  1. Musharna
    Zenn headbutt
    Moonlight
    Hypnosis
    Flash/synchronise

Musharna is very offensive and will help you destroy marshal of the e4 also hypnosis will mark it easier for you to catch the legendaries.

  1. Krookodile
    Earthquake

Krookodile will beat the psychic and ghost gym as both types are weak to dark type Pokemon. He is a good attacker and is very helpful on beat in most gym leaders as well

  1. Unfezant
    Fly
    Sky drop
    Air slash
    Brave bird

Unfezant can be your flyer and is easily caught with its high catch rate. He can easily beat the champion and clay by himself and he covers quite a few of krookodile weaknesses.

  1. Zebstrika
    Flame charge
    Thunderbolt
    Volt switch
    Overheat

Zebstrika covers your fire type as he can learn 2 strong fire type attacks and he only has one weakness which unfezant can destroy easily. Zebstrika is very fast and will help you beat brycen as he will paralyze the ice type then end it with overheat.

  1. Cobalion
    Gyro ball
    Sacred sword
    Iron head
    Retaliate

Cobalion I the only legendary Pokemon that I mention because he is so strong and easily obtainable. You can put him to sleep with musharna and the catch him with a pokebal or duskball. Also he will help you beat Alder and he can easily end the dragon gym with a couple of sacred swords.

My team for Pokemon Black is:
Starter: Emboar (Heat Crash, Assurance, Flame Charge, Hammer Arm)
Flyer: Swoobat (Psychic, Calm Mind ,Air Slash, Fly)
HM Slave: Seismitoad (Surf, Waterfall, Dig, Strength)
Mascot: Galvantula (Thunderbolt, Bug Buzz, Giga Drain, Electroweb)
Team Captain: Excadrill (Earthquake, Metal Claw, Slash, Rock Slide)
PowerHouse: Haxorus (Dragon Claw, Dragon Dance, False Swipe, Rock Slide)
THIS COMPLETED THE WHOLE GAME

What do "mascot", "team captain", and "powerhouse" mean?
0 votes

(Disclaimer: Items can be selected at your own decision, not everything works for everyone.)
Chandelure @
Ability: Flame Body
-Calm Mind
-Shadow Ball
-Flamethrower
-Will-o-wisp

Ghost typing gives good coverage for 2 E4 members, and fire type gives coverage to a swathe of other typings. Chandelure has a lot of resistances and two immunities, making it a good Pokemon to have on your team.

Virizion @
Ability: Justified
-Swords Dance
-Leaf Blade
-Close Combat
-Giga Drain/Toxic

Virizion is your only normal counter, giving it a lot of importance for late game Plasma battles where normal types are fairly abundant. Depending on your item (i.e shell bell or leftovers), the last move can be changed out to your liking.

Galvantula @
Ability: Compound Eyes
-Thunder
-Bug Buzz
-Volt Switch
-Slash/Agility

Galvantula is your main flying counter, and a secondary counter to water and grass. Compound eyes makes thunder more viable than thunderbolt, and volt switch allows you more room to swap your team around at will. Agility is good for creating a fast switcher, or slash is good for neutral coverage.

Krookodile @
Ability: Moxie
-Crunch
-Dig
-Earthquake
-Stone Edge

Your only electric counter, and your get out of caves free card with dig. Krookodile will also be your either primary or secondary Pokemon for the psychic E4.

Swoobat @ (I like to run scope lens from the early game, as woobat and swoobat learn a fair few flying moves with high critical ratios)
Ability: Unaware
-Calm Mind
-Fly
-Psychic
-Air Slash

The flyer on your team and your main counter for fighting types and the fighting E4.

Samurott @ Mystic Water
Ability: Torrent
-Surf
-Ice Beam
-Scald
-Grass Knot

Your surfer, Samurott is your main fire, rock and ground-type counter.

The only 'problem' with this team is that there is no dragon-type counter. To get past the Opelucid gym, it is helpful to substitute in a Beartic or Vanilluxe for your weakest Pokemon at the time. The preevolutions and occasionally the evolved Pokemon can be found before you reach Opelucid city.
If you pick either of the other two starters, I would recommend Carracosta as a good water-type replacement. Hope this helps someone!

This team is extremely effective in completing the main game without any game specific exclusives.

Serperior

Nature:
- Naughty (+Atk/-Sp.Def)

Trait:
- Overgrow

Moveset:
- Giga Drain
- Leaf Blade
- Coil
- Aerial Ace

Item: Miracle Seed
Location: Nuvema Town

Serperior is an extremely powerful Pokemon in patient hands. It capable of taking hits while you use Coil to increase your Attack and Defense and then go on the offensive and take out your opponents with a somewhat diverse moveset and incredible speed.

Seismitoad

Nature: Anyone of the offsetting ones
- Hardy, Docile, Bashful, Quirky, Serious

Trait:
- Poison Touch

Moveset:
- Surf
- Earthquake
- Drain Punch
- Sludge Wave

Item: Mystic Water
Location: Pinwheel Forest

Seismitoad is an overall tank that has 1 weakness and a wide move pool to fight a variety of Pokemon. It has balanced base stats that make it a great addition to the team as many Pokemon will have some weakness to his moves.

Scrafty

Nature:
- Adamant (+Atk/-Sp.Atk)

Trait:
- Moxie

Moveset:
- Brick Break
- Crunch
- High Jump Kick
- Rock Slide

Item: Scope Lens
Location: Desert Resort

Scrafty might be one of the best Pokemon to have in the main game. His typing and base stats allow for him to One-Hit many Pokemon (especially Pokemon from Team Plasma) with ease. Not only that but his superb defense and complementary ability of Moxie allows him to progressively dominate one's team.

Archeops

Nature:
- Lonely (+Atk/-Def)

Trait:
- Defeatist

Moveset:
- Acrobatics
- Fly
- U-turn
- Rock Slide

Item: NONE
Location: Desert Resort

Archeops is an incredible heavy hitter with its ability being its major downfall. But despite that it has a great coverage of moves and U-turn allows it to make a quick hit and return before taking significant damage. If it's the faster Pokemon your opponent is in a lot of trouble.

Chandelure

Nature:
- Modest (+Sp.Atk/-Atk)

Trait:
- Flash Fire

Moveset:
- Flamethrower
- Shadow Ball
- Will-O-Wisp
- Energy Ball

Item: Charcoal
Location: Celestial Tower

Chandelure is fragile but powerful fire Pokemon that is great any various situations. It has high special attack to put the power in its varity of moves that can cover for its weaknesses well. Also, it has above average defense and special defense to somewhat balance its extremely low health stat. Its ability is great in that fire type moves no longer have any effect to you and its benefits you as well!

Haxorus

Nature:
- Adamant (+Atk/-Sp.Atk)

Trait:
- Rivalry

Moveset:
- Dragon Claw
- Outrage
- Swords Dance
- Brick Break

Item: Dragon Fang
Location: Mistralton Cave

Haxorus is one of the biggest brusiers in the main story of the game. It has incredible Attack and moderate speed to outmatch opponents before they even attack (especially if the Pokemon is the same gender). Haxorus being a Dragon type Pokemon has many types that aren't effective in attacking it, and Brick Break covers the Ice weakness.

Enjoy the team! It was really fun for me to play with them and I hope you feel the same as you crush your opponents!

Darmanitan @ Leftovers
- Belly Drum
- Flare Blitz

Belly Drum in game is the perfect setup move, with base 95 Speed you really dont have to worry about too much, especially if youre a bit overlevelled, sit on 5/8 health with 4x attack, sweep with FP. Flare Blitz to get in and cause havoc, HA for coverage.

Excadrill @ Soft Sand
- Hone Claws
- Rock Slide
- Earthquake
- Metal Claw

HC for setup, RS for Skyla, EQ/MC STAB.

EmboarSeismitoadKrookodileSigilyphVanilluxeGalvantula or Eelektross
For this team, I didn't use any Post-Game TMs , move tutors , egg moves, version exclusives , trade evolutions or legendaries. I also tried not to use any moves over level 50 or any late game TMs unless if it was necessary. This way, the team can be used by anyone. Enjoy c:

Emboar (Starter)
Emboar
Ability: Blaze/Reckless
-Flamethrower/Heat Crash
-Hammer Arm
-Assurance
-Wild Charge/Rock Slide

Emboar is practically the best starter for a BW playthrough since it destroys the majority of the Gyms. Despite being a physical attacker , Emboar has a pretty good special attack stat so flamethrower is a good STAB option. However if you want more power then use Heat Crash. Hammer Arm is it's strongest fighting STAB and has basically no negative effects since it's speed is already bad. Assurance is great for dealing with Emboar's psychic weakness and takes advantage of it's bad speed stat. Wild Charge takes care of it's Water/Flying weakness. You can use Rock Slide temporarily until you get access to wild charge.

Seismitoad (Tympole - Pinwheel Forest)
Seismitoad
Ability: Poison Touch
-Surf/Waterfall
-Poison Jab/Sludge Bomb
-Rock Slide
-Brick Break/Drain Punch

There aren't many great water types to choose from, Carracosta is strong but it doesn't have good coverage - some of it's move are lategame or postgame. So I chose Seismitoad instead. For Water STAB, Waterfall is a good option but Seismitoad also has good Sp.Atk so using Surf isn't a bad idea. Poison Jab/Sludge Bomb is to take out any Grass type threats. Next is Rock slide, a really good coverage move, that has a chance to flinch - which is also nice to have. Brick Break/Drain Punch is another strong coverage move , it's great when dealing with Brycen and Grimsely. If you want ground STAB , unfortunately it only has access to Dig and Bulldoze.

Krookodile (Sandile - Route 4)
Krookodile
Ability: Moxie
-Earthquake
-Crunch
-Rock Slide
-Dragon Claw/Aerial Ace

Since Seismitoad didn't have access to any good ground moves, we might as well use Krookodile. Also we are going to need a way to deal with Psychic and Ghost types scattered throughout the region. Earthquake is a post-game TM , however Krookodile can learn it by level up so that's going be our Ground STAB. Crunch is an amazing dark STAB because it can easily deal with both of Shauntal and Caitlin's team. Rock Slide takes care of it's Bug and Ice type weaknesses. Aerial Ace is to deal with any fighting type threats. Dragon Claw is strong and handy when battling Zekrom/Reshiram.

Sigilyph (Desert Resort)
Sigilyph
Ability: Magic Guard
-Air Slash/Fly
-Psychic
-Shadow Ball
-Solar Beam/Charge Beam

Sigilyph is an amazing special attacker - it has good stats and has a really good movepool. It's going to be your flyer so you can give it Fly or if you have a HM Slave then give Sigilyph Air Slash. Psychic is obviously it's best STAB and makes light work of Marshal. Shadow Ball to deal with ghost types as well as other psychic Pokemon. Solar Beam covers water, rock and ground types making it a pretty useful move. Charge Beam is another great option though.

Galvantula (Joltik - Chargestone Cave) or Eelektross (Tynamo/Thunder Stone - Chargestone Cave)
GalvantulaEelektross
Ability: Compound Eyes - Ability: Levitate
-Thunderbolt/Thunder
-Signal Beam (U-Turn for Eelektross)
-Hyper Beam (Acrobatics for Eelektross)
-Volt Switch/Thunder Wave

Both Eelektross and Galvantula are really good electric types to use. Galvantula is much faster than Eelektross but it has poor defenses, while Eelektross has slightly better defenses (also having no weaknesses) but is very slow. Thunderbolt is amazing STAB but for Galvantula you could use thunder as it takes advantage of Compound Eyes. Signal Beam is good STAB for Galvantula and U-Turn is a great utility move as it can save Eelektross from fainting. Hyper Beam is incredibly strong and will most likely OHKO if not put your target at red health. For Eelektross, Acrobatics can be fairly useful against alot fighting, grass and bug types.

Vanilluxe (Vanillite - Route 6 during Winter)
Vanilluxe
Ability: Snow Warning
-Ice Beam/Blizzard
-Flash Cannon
-Toxic
-Light Screen/Acid Armour

Vanilluxe is a great special tank so we want to take advantage of it's defense stats. Ice Beam is really strong STAB, however if your Vanilluxe has snow warning you can use Blizzard because it can never miss during hail.Flash Cannon is it's only good coverage move and is great for taking care of any rock types. Toxic is a good move if you can stall. It also goes well with snow warning. Light Screen is a good support move and helps deal with any special attackers. You can use Acid Armour if you want your Vanilluxe to be very bulky.

Good HM Slaves:
Basculin: Cut, Surf, Waterfall and Dive
Ducklett: Fly, Surf and Dive
Tirtouga: Surf, Strength,Waterfall and Dive

Hopefully this team can be very useful for your BW playthrough and I hope you enjoy using it. Good Luck!!!

SerperiorSeismitoadScraftyArcheopsGalvantulaChandelure
This time I will do Serperior:
For this team, I didn't use any Post-Game TMs , move tutors , egg moves, version exclusives , trade evolutions or legendaries. I also tried not to use any moves over level 50 or any late game TMs unless if it was necessary. This way, the team can be used by anyone. Enjoy c:

Serperior (Starter)
Serperior
Ability: Overgrow
-Leaf Blade/Giga Drain
-Aerial Ace
-Coil
-Leech Seed

Serperior is a fast and defensive Pokemon which means it will have a chance to set up and wall any threats. Giga Drain is an option however I recommend leaf blade as it does more damage. Aerial Ace is a good coverage move and takes care of bug types. Coil is to set up so you can be extremly bulky. Leech Seed will do chip damage and recover Serperior's HP.

Seismitoad (Pinwheel Forest)
Seismitoad
Ability: Poison Touch
-Surf
-Dig/Bulldoze
-Poison Jab
-Drain Punch

Seismitoad is probably the best water type to use since other Pokemon like Carracosta or Jellicent have coverage moves which are very late game or post game. Also you can get Tympole much earlier than other water types. For STAB, Surf is the best move as it's Sp.Atk is pretty good for a physical attacker - also we are going to need it to progress through the game. For Ground STAB, unfortunatly TM26 is Post-Game so it only has access to Dig and Bulldoze. Posion Jab takes care of it's grass weakness and Drain Punch is an amazing coverage move as it can restore Seismitoad's HP.

Scrafty (Route 4)
Scrafty
Ability: Moxie
-Brick Break/High Jump Kick
-Crunch
-Rock Slide
-Strength

NOTE: You get Scrafty after Nacrene Gym so catch a fighting type like Sawk temporarily.

The dark typing is pretty handy since it can handle 2 of the Elite 4. Also we do need some fighitng coverage against threats like Brycen and Grimsely. Brick Break is a really good STAB move, however if you want more power use High Jump Kick. Crunch is amazing STAB. Rock Slide can help with any flying or bug types. Strength is a pretty strong move and we going to need it in Victory Road.

Archeops (Relic Castle)
Archeops
Ability: Defeatist
-Acrobatics/Fly
-Rock Slide
-U-Turn
-Bulldoze/Dragon Claw

Archeops is a extremly strong flyer to use in Unova with a BST of 567 - just make sure you don't activate it's ability. Fly is needed for convience or if you have a HM Slave then you can give Archeops Acrobatics. Rock Slide is good STAB and has a chance to flinch. U-Turn can is handy if your flyer is in trouble and or if you don't want to activate it's ability. Bulldoze is a decent coverage move or you can use Dragon Claw if you are having trouble with dragon types.

Galvantula (Chargestone Cave)
Galvantula
Ability: Compound Eyes
-Thunderbolt/Thunder
-Signal Beam/Bug Buzz
-Hyper Beam
-Volt Switch/Thunder Wave

Galvantula is extremly strong and fast, making easy work of any water/flying/psychic or dark types. Elektross is another really good electric type, however I already have 3 physical attackers so the team would be unbalanced. Anyways for Electric STAB, Thunderbolt is pretty powerful however Thunder is also good because it's Compound Eyes ability increases the accarcy to 91%. Signal Beam and Bug Buzz are both really good bug moves. Hyper Beam does hits like a truck. Volt Switch can be useful if Galvantula is at low health and/or if you need to switch to another Pokemon. Thunder Wave takes care of any speedy Pokemon like Alder's Accelgor.

Chandelure (Celestic Tower)
Chandelure
Ability: Flash Fire/Flame Body
-Flamethrower
-Shadow Ball
-Psychic
-Will-O-Wisp

NOTE: You need to beat 4 gyms leaders before you can get Litwick so use Darmanitan or Simisear temporarily.

Chandelure has amazing Stats with a Sp.Atk stat of 145, making it a powerful special attacker as well as a very good fire type. Flamethrower is obviously it's best fire STAB and Shadow Ball being it's best ghost STAB. Psychic is a good coverage move. Will-O-Wisp helps out with any Physical threats like Drayden's Haxorus as well as doing some chip damage, which can be a good combo with Serperior's leech seed.

Good HM Slaves:
Basculin: Cut, Surf, Waterfall and Dive
Ducklett: Fly, Surf and Dive
Tirtouga: Surf, Strength,Waterfall and Dive

Hopefully this team can be very useful for your BW playthrough and I hope you enjoy using it. Good Luck!!!

For the Alder fight:

Emboar:
Ability: Blaze
Item: Leftovers

Flare Blitz (lv 62)
Hammer Arm (heart scale)
Scald (tm 55 Freezer Container)
Wild Charge (tm 93 victory road)

In my opinion, Emboar is the best starter. Fire and Fighting is an awesome typing and it has amazing coverage. Flare blitz for a strong physical attack, hammer arm is the strongest fighting type move it can learn, scald for amazing coverage that's hard to find and wild charge for flying types.

Leavanny:
Ability: Swarm
Item: Miracle Seed

Leaf Blade (lv 36)
X-Scissor (tm 81 route 7)
Aerial Ace (tm 40 Mistralton City Runway)
Return (tm 27 Nimbasa City PokéMart)

While this might be a weird choice, Levanny is a fantastic early game Pokemon and complements Emboar well in the early game while helping cover psychic Pokemon as well. Leaf blade is a strong physical attack for Leavanny, x-scissor for psychic types and aerial ace and return for move coverage.

Krookodile:
Ability: Moxie
Item: Black Glasses

Earthquake (lv 54)
Crunch (lv 28)
Dragon Tail (after you beat the 8th gym)
Brick Break (tm 31 Icirrus City)

The ace of the team along with Emboar, Krookodile is amazing in the end game and it can almost sweep the elite 4 by itself. Plus with black glasses and moxie, it can sweep through gyms by itself such as Drayden. Earthquake is the strongest ground type move, crunch for psychic coverage, dragon trail for dragon coverage, and brick break for normal type coverage.

Sigilyph:
Ability: Wonder Skin
Item: Psychic Gem

Air Slash (lv 41)
Psychic (lv 44)
Shadow Ball (tm 30 relic castle)
Fly (hm 02 Driftveil City - From Bianca)

Easily the best flyer you can get before the league. It's strong and covers a lot of Pokemon. Air slash is the strongest flying type move it can learn, psychic is the strongest psychic move it can learn, shadow ball for coverage and fly just to fly around on (don't use in battle).

Carracosta:
Ability: Sturdy
Item: nevermeltice

Waterfall (hm 05 Route 18)
Blizzard (tm 14 Icirrus City PokéMart)
Shell Smash (lv 40)
Surf (hm 04 Twist Mountain - From Alder)

A very good defensive wall with ice type coverage to help out. Waterfall for a strong water type move, blizzard for dragon type coverage, shell smash for stat boosting and surf to get around on (don't use in battle.)

Eelektross:
Ability: Levitate
Item: quick claw

Thunderbolt (tm 24 P2 Laboratory)
Flash Cannon (tm 91 Twist Mountain)
Acrobatics (tm 62 Mistralton City Gym)
Grass Knot (tm 86 Pinwheel Forest)

Has amazing coverage for a variety of Pokemon and with the ability of levitate, it has no weaknesses. Thunderbolt is the strongest electric type move, flash cannon for a steel type move and acrobatics and grass knot for coverage.

Samurott (Starter)
Nature: Hardy
Item: Scope Lens
Ability: Torrent
-Surf
-Megahorn

Krookodile (Route 4)
Nature: Adamant

-Bulldoze
-Crunch
-Brick Break

Chandelure (Celestial Tower)
Nature: Modest
Ability: Flash Fire
Item: Spell Tag
-Shadow ball
-Hex
-Will o wisp
-Flame burst
Your main special attacker. Shadow ball and flame burst for STAB. Will o wisp is used to cripple physical attackers, very useful against marshal who uses mainly physical attacks. Hex is also STAB which can be used when a Pokemon is inflicted with any status effect.
Sawsbuck (Route 6)
Nature: Quirky
Ability: Sap Sipper
Item: Miracle Seed
-Energy Ball

Nature: Modest
Item: Expert belt
-Shadow Ball

Nature: Modest
Item: NeverMeltIce
-Ice Beam
-Frost Breath

Ice Beam and Frost Breath are STAB (Frost Breath always crits no matter what) Acid armor for defense buff and Flash cannon for coverage. It can solo the Mistralton City Gym and Opelucid City Gym. Also helpful against flying and ground types.

I won’t bore everyone with the technicalities but what I will do is say that this team worked an absolute treat for me, once I managed to get it that is, but level up in a proper manner instead of blazing through the game and your best Pokemon is level 65... anyway this is the team I used,
emboar (hammer arm, flamethrower, heat crash, strength)
Simisage (seed bomb, cut, energy ball, crunch)
Swoobat (psychic, air slash, fly, psyshock)
Carracosta (ice beam, dive, waterfall, rock slide)
Golurk (earthquake, gyro ball, thunderbolt, phantom force)
Haxorus (surf, dragon pulse, dragon claw, x scissor)

I’m not someone that has negative battles using moves like light screen and confuse ray, focus on levelling up to get level based on your badges and go for 1-3 hit ko battles.

The only thing I will inform you on is the reason simisage is in the team and that’s the tympole line (tympole, palpitoad, seismitoad) because they’re water/ground, tympole just water, and grass type moves are handy when levelling up and you come across rock, ground, water Pokemon and crunch is handy for the trainers that surprise you with a random psychic type in their party

by
Emboar, Simisage, and Swoobat have 2 STAB moves that aren't HMs. Phantom Force didn't exist in Gen 5. Thunderbolt on Golurk is incredibly weak. Having Dragon pulse and Surf on a Pokemon with 147 Attack seems like a waste.

Teams for Samurott and Emboar, as Serperior has poor movepool and match-up against gyms and E4.

Emboar team: [Emboar / Archeops / Krookodile / Galvantula / Basculin / Haxorus]
Samurott team: [Samurott / Archeops / Krookodile / Galvantula / Darmanitan / Haxorus]

Water type (Surfer):

Samurott Basculin

Samurott
Ability: Torrent
- Surf
- Razor Shell -> Waterfall / Dive / Aqua Jet
- Megahorn
- Ice Beam / Blizzard / Grass Knot

Surf, Waterfall & Dive are necessary HMs to complete the game, and are strong STABs. Megahorn is coverage to two E-4 members, obtained by Heart Scale method. Ice Beam and Blizzard is a necessary coverage for Grass types, Dragon types etc. Grass Knot is just a filler.
