PokéBase - Pokémon Q&A

I breed pokemon in the game and am pretty good at IVs and EVs and such. I have thought of a few good tactics, such as

  • Safe Guard and Outrage/Petal Dance/Thrash (avoids confusion ailment)
  • Mimic and Imprison (permanent Disables last move)
  • Swagger/Flatter and Psych Up/Haze (either gives you upped stats or resets theirs)
  • Defense Curl followed by Roll Out (makes roll out stronger)
  • Rain Dance and Thunder (Thunder never misses)
  • Belly Drum and Rest (works best with a chesto berry. Maximizes attack)
  • Sunny Day and Solar Beam (solar beam no longer needs to charge)
  • Endure and Flail/Reversal (makes the attack moves really strong compared to normal)

What are some of the best move combos that you have found so far? :D
Explain your choices, and why they make good combos.

Oh. Thanks. (So it *is* a "combo"!)
Wow I never thought this would pass 110...
Exactly 150 upvotes. o3o
I think a snorelax with rest and snore (you can keep hp up and still attack)
supersonic and thunderwave (makes it hard for them to attack)

Double Battle:
Send out Smeargle with SpA lowering nature, 0 IVs and EVs, and Balloon with Camerupt with Anger Point. Have Smeargle use Frost Breath on Camerupt, boosting its Attack stat to 4x instantly with way less damage than Belly Drum. Camerupt can then sweep with Earthquake and Rock Slide, perhaps with a Rock Polish boost. This also works with Primeape.

Mega Charizard Y Drought and Solarbeam spam works excellently.

Then there's the Bulky Vaporeon with Aqua Ring and Baton Pass...

But my favorite move combo has to be the tried and true Belly Drum Sitrus Berry Combo with an Azumarill Huge Power. Sweeps, baby, sweeps!

Here's a Good Lanturn Moveset I had in mind:

Lanturn (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Doesn't matter
Evs: 252 SpA / 252 Spe / 4 Hp
Timid Nature (+Spe, -Atk)

  • Soak
  • Agility
  • Electro Ball
  • Thunder Wave

Explanation: Electro Ball Lanturn Sweep. No problem. Soak turns your foes into water type and are affected by Thunder Wave and Electro Ball. Agility Raises your speed to 2 Stages outspeeding foes and Doing more damage with Electro Ball. Electro Ball is STAB and it really pack a good punch with Agility Boosts and Thunder Wave. Thunder Wave Paralyses the Foe so you can outspeed the Foe.

First, you have a pyukumuku in-battle.

I just fell in love with this soak + toxic + stall (recover). This makes pyukumuku very annoying.
Goes as following

Turn I:

  • Pyukumuku uses soak for steel-types and poison-types.

Turn II:

  • Pyukumuku uses Toxic.

Turn III:

  • Stall. (use recover.)

This isn't very useful in battles, but it is fun to see the reaction on the opponent's face when you use it! Try teaching Smeargle or Mew the moves Swagger, Switcheroo, and Clear Smog. Your Pokemon should be holding a Lum Berry, Mental Herb, or any treatment for confusion. Use Swagger to give +2 attack and confusion, Switcheroo to give the cure of confusion and have it keep the attack stat, and then use Clear Smog to remove its Atack Stat when the opponent has a hope of winning. it isn't very useful in battles, but it is a good trolling technique!

Finally! A compeditive use for False Swipe!

WARNING: This requires a strategic IV and EV placing, and this will not work if the speed stat was lowered.

Format: Triples

Pokemon 1: Knows False Swipe, is the strongest (highest Atk) and fastest
Pokemon 2: Knows Endeavor, is 1 speed point slower than Pokemon 1
Pokemon 3: Ribombee knowing Pollen Puff, 1 speed point slower than Pokemon 2
At least 1 Pokemon should have a priority move (preferably Extreme Speed) or has the ability Prankster and a status move (preferably toxic/will-o-wisp)

1. Have PKMN 1 use False Swipe on PKMN 2.
2. Have PKMN 2 use Endeavor on the opponent's Bulkiest Pokemon that is not immune to Endeavor.
3. Have Ribombee use Pollen Puff on PKMN 2.
4. Use the priority move on the Pokemon.

If done correctly, the Pokemon that got Endeavor'd should be fainted.

I just found one but its bad a little I think. Octillery with moody ability with these following moves

Scald:May burn and STAB
Ice beam: Grass Coverage and Can hit dragon types
HP Ground: Electric coverage deals with fire rock steel either
Protect: Makes moody increase random stats and doesnt gets damaged

I know you said no moveset but in conclusion Moody / Protect

Z-calm mind and shell smash. (this works on Minior)
Use 3 shell smashes then use Z-calm mind to reset all stat drops=MAX ATTACK, SPECIAL ATTACK AND SPEED!!!
Search up what is the best moveset for minior and go to my answer for more details.

On smeargle @quick claw:

  • Seed flare: to lower special defence, as well as high power./parabolic charge: heals yourself
  • magma storm: traps opponent in, good damage
  • orgin pulse: hits all adjacent opponents, good damage.
  • core enforcer: gets rid of dragons, removes abillity/ last resort: high power/king’s shield

The fire water grass/electric combo(he was asking for best move combos)!

Smeargle’s isn’t very good at attacking. And this doesn’t really fit the thread.

This one isn't for having a great strategy, but rather to make your opponent throw their game ds/3ds/switch at the wall.

  1. Catch a Shuckle (make sure it has the ability sturdy)

  2. Get it to level 100 (you see where I'm going)

3.Teach it iron defense (you know, to raise that defense), rollout (when you use iron defense 3 times, you'll see.),Protect (ahh, nothing like hitting protect WITH A Z-MOVE), and when all else fails, rest to heal back all hp.

4.After this, put a focus sash on Shuckle for MAXIMUM rage.

5.Then battle. You should see a message that pops up that says "The match was ended". After that you know you succeeded.

I have seen the foul play/punishment+ swagger combo, but I have added on to it. If you use reflect, it counters the swagger attack boost so foul play still hits hard but their physical attacks don’t crush you. Malamar and Smeargle can learn these 3 moves, and there might be some other Pokémon that can learn them. I use my articuno with swagger and reflect and my yveltal with tailwind and foul play in doubles and I win a lot. First turn I set up tailwind and reflect, and if they both live through the turn (they have pretty good bulk) I use swagger to make Yveltal’s foul play strong and foul play to destroy them. The reflect boost helps them live and the tailwind boost makes them go first. You might not need to use reflect if you know the opponent is a special attacker

Some combos I came up with are:
Trick or Encore + Disable + Protect (Makes Pokemon have to use one move, then disable the move. Then, Protect is to be annoying to the Pokemon having to be forced to use Struggle.)
Toxic + Mean Look (Trap the foe, then badly poison the opponent.)
Moves like Whirlpool, Fire Spin, and Infestation + Toxic (During a move like Fire Spin, the foe can't escape and takes damage from the trapping move. Toxic is used to worsen the damage done.
Calm Mind 2 times + Overheat (Solrock can do this. Use Calm Mind twice, then Overheat. The special attack will be canceled out. Repeat)
Electro Ball + Thunder Wave (Thunder Wave on the opponent, then Electro Ball, which should have more power)
Sandstorm + Toxic + Bind (Bind to trap the foe. Toxic to wear down the hp of an opponent. Sandstorm is for some more damage. Damage worsens due to Toxic.)
Mud Slap + Double Team (Mud Slap does damage and lowers the foe's accuracy. Double Team raises the users' evasiveness. Attacks shouldn't hit often now.)

Perish Song+Whirlpool. Azumarill can do this
