Double Dance Magearna

Magearna @ Electrium Z
Ability: Soul-Heart
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Shift Gear
- Ice Beam
- Thunderbolt

Double Dance is a pretty dangerous strategy that gives a Pokemon the tools to deal with numerous team archetypes. Users of it usually carry two setup moves, one that boosts Speed and one that boosts offenses. Players can choose which boosts to obtain based on the team they are facing. If they are facing a more defensive, slower team, then they can boost their offenses to break through the team while not worrying about Speed due to the opposing team being naturally slower. Likewise, if the opposing team is faster but frailer, they can boost their Speed to outspeed the team without having to worry about the lack of power due the opposing team being naturally frailer. Notable users of this strategy include Swords Dance/Rock Polish Landorus-T and Dragon Dance/Coil Zygarde.

Magearna is a fantastic user of the Double Dance strategy, utilizing Calm Mind and Shift Gear as its setup moves. Ice Beam and Thunderbolt are chosen as the two attacking moves, as they provide the best neutral coverage. Electrium-Z is used in conjunction with Thunderbolt to give Magearna a chance to bust through one Pokemon and begin snowballing with Soul-Heart boosts. These slots can be customized, however, to fit the needs of specific teams. Energy Ball, Flash Cannon, Fleur Cannon, Focus Blast and Shadow Ball can all be used with or without their respective Z-Crystals to break past certain Pokemon.

The EV spread is pretty crucial for the success of this set, giving Magearna enough power and Speed to pull off a sweep. 252 Speed EVs and a Timid nature are necessary for Magearna to outspeed as many slow Pokemon as possible when unboosted. This also allows to Magearna to outspeed all Choice Scarf users at and under 102 base Speed (most notably Garchomp, Landorus-T and Tapu Lele). In addition, Magearna needs all the Special Attack is can get to break past defensive Pokemon before it gets its first Soul-Heart boost.

No clue if this would actually be viable but I'll upvote for the effort and because I love Double Dance

This is my first answer I'm posting, so be nice please.

okay Doubles

Magearna @ Psychium Z
Ability: Soul-Heart
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 Spe
Modest Nature
- Fleur Cannon (STAB)
- Flash Cannon (STAB)
- Aura Sphere / Shift Gear (coverage/speed/or any other move you like.)
- Heart Swap

Have a Pokemon set up some stat and a Focus Energy use Heart Swap to get rid of any bad you may gotten.
Because at 4 you always crit and you start at one the Focus Energy gives +2 and Z Heart Swap gives +1. So because crits ignore attack drops you can now use Fleur Cannon to your heart's content.
Have fun and let me know if you think it's a good set or what should be changed.

You do know that Aura Sphere isn't super effective against Ground OR Fire, right?

Magearna
Magearna @ Grassy Seed
Ability: Soul-Heart
EVs: 76 HP / 252 Def / 180 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Shift Gear
- Calm Mind
- Stored Power
- Draining Kiss

Since Rillaboom is the best terrain setter in OU, grassy seeds is probably the best item. The trick is to spam calm mind and shift gear whenever it's safe to which will raise stored powers base power to 200+, draining kiss is for stab and recovery. Correct me if I'm wrong but grassy terrain halfs the power of earthquake which makes magearna safe against Garchomp, a ground type OU threat. Magearna is also immune to scale shot which makes this set effective at countering Garchomp. This specific speed EV spread will make shift gear outspeed Dragapult, the second fastest OU pocket monster after Regieleki.

National Dex

Magearna-Original @ Weakness Policy
Ability: Soul-Heart
EVs: 76 HP / 216 SpA / 216 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 30 Atk
- Stored Power
- Draining Kiss
- Shift Gear
- Calm Mind

Shift Gear boosts Speed and Attack. The Attack boost is useless outside of boosting Stored Power. Calm Mind allows Magearna to take Special hits better and makes it more powerful. Stored Power lets it take advantage of all the boosts it accumulates. Draining Kiss is STAB and healing.

The EV spread allows Magearna to always take an uninvested Landorus-Therian's Earthquake from full HP. 216 Speed EVs allow it to outspeed Adamant Mega Swampert out of rain (this also means that you outspeed Mega Swampert in rain after a Shift Gear) and +Speed nature Base 60s.

Also use Original form because regular Mag looks bad.

Yes, Original is ebik
Wait quick question. Why r u using 30 atk ivs?
You need 30 Attack IVs to be able to use the Original form.
Oh. Didn't know that. Ty

Magearna @ Assault Vest
Ability: Soul-Heart
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Fleur Cannon
- Flash Cannon
- Aura Sphere
- Volt Switch

Fat AV set, with a slow Volt Switch.

You could swap out Volt Switch for Shadow Ball just on the off chance someone (nooby) uses Shedinja for total (501 super-effective, 407 neutral) coverage.
Volt Switch is literally so much more useful to keep up momentum and bring in frail teammates. If you really want Shadow Ball replace Aura Sphere instead.

I thought of a physical / mixed set, it has 95 base Attack, after all:

Magearna @ Lum Berry
Ability: Soul-Heart
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Naive Nature / Lonely Nature
- Iron Head
- Shift Gear
- Fleur Cannon
- Heart Swap

I've seen mixed sets. But no all-out Physical sets. So here you have it:
The piece of garbage that is Physical Magearna!

Magearna @ Weakness Policy
Ability: Soul-Heart (unfortunately)
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Shift Gear
- Iron Head
- Brick Break
- Last Resort

"But Potty, Magearna is a Special Attacker!" You may complain. Well, they sure didn't hinder anyone hoping for a Physical set with that 95 base Attack stat!
Basically, they send out their Fire ot Ground type (say, PDon) and hit you super-effectively. Live with a small amount of HP, activate Weakness Policy then use Shift Gear. With the +3 Attack and +2 Speed, you're ready to KO the poor things with Iron Head or Brick Break. And top it all off, after sweeping with the two moves that were preceded by Shift Gear setup, strike with a Last Resort and laugh maliciously.
And that was the story of Physical Magearna.

Magearna @ Leftovers
Ability: Soul-Heart
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Shift Gear
- Calm Mind
- Stored Power
- Draining Kiss

Basically Double Dance, but with Magearnas fun new moves it got access to. Stored Power will sweep after a few boosts, and it will get even stronger every Soul Heart boost. Draining Kiss might be a questionable choice, but it recovers 75% of the damage dealt, and factoring in STAB and Calm Mind boosts, you gain back a ton of health.

Magearna @ Leftovers
Ability: Soul-Heart
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Imprison
- Trick Room
- Thunderbolt / Shadow Ball
- Ice Beam / Shadow Ball

Basically this set can stop Trick Room. BoltBeam is just the generic coverage thing that will nail most common Trick Room Pokemon/abusers, but you can use Shadow Ball to hit Alolan Marowak for super effective damage. This is probably terrible and gimmicky in singles, but eh.

Wallbreaking Mixed sweeper:

Tired of being walled by the Chansey/Blissey annoyance? Screens getting you down? Well here's the solution:

MagThatcher (Magearna) @ Shell Bell / Leftovers / Weakness Policy
Ability: Soul-Heart
EVs: 32 Atk / 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 220 Spe
Bashful Nature
- Shift Gear
- Brick Break
- Shadow Ball
- Dazzling Gleam / Flash Cannon

  • Shift Gear (Increases Speed and Attack obviously)
  • Brick Break (All important for the breaking of screens and/or the Chansey line/Snorlax etc)
  • Shadow Ball (We all know that Fighting and Ghost are unresisted, that's why this is here)
  • Dazzling Gleam/Flash Cannon (Choose your STAB depending on what your team needs)

The nature and EV spread allow for a speed stat that after just one Shift Gear you outspeed literally everything except Deoxys-Speed and Ninjask (outspeeds Pheromosa by one point) two Shift Gears and even scarfed threats are outsped, the 4 points in SpD are to confound (most) Download users such as the Porygon line. The SpA fully invested stands at 359 while one Shift Gear brings your Attack stat to 351. This is best paired with Ribombee for the Quiver Passes to create an almost unstoppable KO machine (pun very much intended lol). The nature says Bashful, any neutral nature will do.

Edited: Optimised the EV spread as it's impossible to outspeed Ninjask, so after Shift Gear we now outspeed Pheromosa (the next fastest Pokemon) by one point.

Damage calculations for proof:

+2 32 Atk Magearna Brick Break vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Blissey: 386-456 (54 - 63.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

+3 32 Atk Magearna Brick Break vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Chansey: 354-418 (50.3 - 59.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Sweeper Soul-Heart Magearna:

Magearna @ Wise Glasses
Ability: Soul-Heart
EVs: 4 HP / 126 Def / 252 SpA / 126 SpD
Modest Nature
- Fleur Cannon
- Shift Gear
- Mirror Shot
- Aura Sphere

Fleur Cannon (the SpA drop is crappy, but you'll most likely OHKO your opponent with this, raising your Special Attack by one with Soul-Heart, and this makes it more bearable. With 244.5 base power (STAB + Wise Glasses), only one Special Attack drop will be acceptable, and you can OHKO your opponents before using it. If you OHKO your opponent, it will be brought back to 394.

Shift Gear (I know the Attack increase won't be anything since you are full Special, but anyways, the 2x Speed increase wil be great, since you already have great Special Attack. After one boost, Magearna will become a terrifying sweeper).

Mirror Shot (most will ask "why Mirror Shot when she has access to Flash Cannon? Well, the accuracy drop is VERY useful, and Magearna already has a great Special Attack, while after the modifiers it will have 106.75 base power, which with an accuracy drop is EXCELLENT.

Aura Sphere (covers 5 different types, one of them being Steel, which resist both of Magearna's STAB. AND it always hits. 80 base power after the wise glasses makes it AWESOME, and Fighting is always a good type to have a move of when your Pokemon is a Fairy type. Aura Sphere does the job well, and at least deals a normal effective damage to one of her 2 weaknesses, which is Fire. So, is just a strong coverage move (but is always nice to have coverage).

I've been swept by this in a random Showdown! battle before. The opponent killed me with just Magearna, they didn't even have to use another one of it's Pokémon. It actually IS OverPowered, but I pretty much hope it does not get a nerf, since is one of my favorite ever Legendary Pokemon (I classify Legendaries, Mythicals and Ultra Beasts all as Legendaries, as 20% of the world).

Magearna @ Choice Specs
Ability: Soul-Heart
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Fleur Cannon
- Volt Switch
- Trick
- Focus Blast / Ice Beam

Fleur Cannon is strong STAB, Volt Switch is for pivoting, Trick is to trick away the Choice Specs, and Focus Blast can nail Ferrothorn, or Ice Beam can be used to catch the ground types switching in to the Volt Switch.

Doubles Ubers

Magearna @ Weakness Policy / Safety Goggles
Ability: Soul-Heart
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Quiet Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Trick Room
- Dazzling Gleam
- Flash Cannon
- Thunderbolt

In case you don't know, Soul-Heart activates when any Pokémon on the field faints, doesn't have to be an opponent. It's so dumb.

Lead this with a fast Final Gambit user such as Scarf Victini. On the first turn, they can use Final Gambit to knock themself out (and maybe an opponent) and activate Magearna's Soul-Heart, boosting it's special attack one or two stages, depending on whether or not they got the KO, while Magearna sets Trick Room for it's team on that same turn. If you want, you can Dynamax Magearna the following turn. Dazzling Gleam and Flash Cannon are STAB, and Dazzling Gleam does spread damage if Magearna isn't Dynamaxed. Thunderbolt hits kyogre and Ho-Oh for super-effective damage. Weakness Policy is to boost Magearna's special attack further if it is hit with a super-effective move, or you could run Safety Goggles to be safe from Spore from Amoonguss, a very problematic Pokémon for Trick Room teams.

Magearna @ Fairium Z
Ability: Soul-Heart
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpA
Modest Nature
- Explosion
- Shift Gear
- Flash Cannon / Trick Room
- Fleur Cannon

She works great in Singles and Doubles. Shift Gear is needed to boost Explosion and also speed so that it can outspeed majority of the attackers and Scarfers. Trick Room works great in doubles. Use Shift Gear at least 2 or 3 times, then when at Low Hp, use Explosion, BOOM. With the boost from Shift Gear, it's guaranteed to OHKO types that does not resist normal. Fleur Cannon has great power with STAB. And when paired with Fairium Z, it's deadly and also guaranteed to OHKO types that does not resist fairy. It lowers Sp. Atk by 2 stages though, but Soul Heart makes up for that. Flash Cannon is also STAB, and has chances to lower target's Sp. Def, which can really help you out.

Magearna has no gender. Why did you say "she"? Did you assume it is female because it's pink and looks like it's wearing a dress?
Did you assume a legendary's gender? What if Magearna was actually a boy cursed to wear a dress?
Reminder that this is a Pokemon website. Gender very rarely ever matters. There is absolutely no need whatsoever to comment on someone's answer from over a year ago to tell them off about misgendering something/body, especially a made up creature.
I, along with probably 95% of the fanbase, call HER a SHE too, she's even portrayed as another Pokemon Waifu if that's your thing. Not to mention it's canon, go watch Volcanion and The Mechanical Marvel, she's referred to as female the whole movie. You guys need to get off your high politically correct horses.

Now for the real issue at hand, the set itself, Shift Gear makes you faster, Trick Room makes slower pokemon go first, I can't be the only one who sees a problem here, you'll probably not even get the Explosion off!

Magearna @ White Herb

- Shift Gear

If you got Jolly or Adamant Magearna in Gen 7 then this is the probably 1 and only set you can use.
Magearna @ Life Orb
Ability: Soul-Heart
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spe / 6 HP
Adamant / Jolly Nature
- Shift Gear
- Zen Headbutt / Explosion / Return
- Iron Head
- Brick Break / Explosion / Return
Shift Gear boosts attack and speed, Zen Headbutt is coverage, Explosion is a nuke that kills you, Return is because it doesn't have anything else,Iron Head is STAB, and Brick Break is coverage.
