Thread Information

On this thread, you can post suggestions as to what tournaments should be hosted on the site! When you post suggestions, please make sure that you include all rules that will apply to your tournament and the amount of members in it. The most popular tournaments, determined by those with the most votes, will be hosted next. Old and not-so-popular suggestions will be hidden over time to prevent clutter.

Please check through the existing answers and the tournament winners pages linked above to make sure your suggestion hasn't already been made.

Take note that these tournaments will not be hosted on the 3DS (or a Switch or whatever fancy gadget you're using nowadays), but on a Pokemon simulator called Pokemon Showdown. Also if you have a new suggestion that has not been suggested, post it and see if it gets support!

Please read the selected answer (the first answer you'll see) for additional information.

No Stealth Rock" etc

Add any extra details or more complicated rules at the end. These rules will be default in case you forget to add those complicated rules.

Battles are to be held on the Pokemon DB Showdown! server.
Save replays and show them to the host. You can make them private if you don't want anyone else to see them.
Players can change teams between battles.

Sharing is Caring Tournament

Basically, every Pokemon must share one move with every other on the team. The rest of the moves must be unique. Therefore, you may not have two Pokemon with Water Spout unless it is the Shared Move. If it is, then all 6 Pokemon must share it.

Rules:

  • Natdex OU Format
  • 16 Participants
  • Battles are Best of 3
  • Teams may not be changed in between battles, but can be during rounds. However, the selected Shared Move must stay the same.
  • Replays must be saved and commented on the post.
  • Only one Pokemon may Dynamax, Mega Evolve, or use a Z-Move. [NOTE: You cannot have all three, only one.]
  • The shared move can be also be used by any other player, as sharing is caring. Two people can have Water Spout as a Shared Move, for example.
  • The Shared Move can be a Status Move.
  • The Shared Move must be the sqme type of Hidden Power if that is the move you have chosen (so HP Fire and HP Ghost cannot work, but two HP Grounds would)

Bans:

  • All Choice Items (Specs, Band, etc.)
  • The Shared Move must not be a Z-Move, Max Move, or Gmax Move
  • OHKO Moves (eg. Guillotine)

The great garbage set randomizer 0.7 2020

Alright, this is my first suggestion. What if we did a tournament where the pokemon teams are drafted, but you will have to use the most downvoted set on the pokemon's page. So lets say all 3 starters from kanto + 3 johto starters were a team. Then, if a set of ember, fire blast, flamethrower and fire spin was the most downvoted on charizard for instance, they would have to use it. Another catch though would be that they would also have to use pokemon who have a 7 in their national dex number.(They don't have to be consecutive). A list will be provided right here. It will be a random team. There will be no LC pokemon or middle stage, so this may have to be a smaller tourney.

The pokes:
Parasect, Primeape, Victreebell, Tentacruel, Golem, Rapidash, Dewgong, Hypno, Hitmonchan, Pinsir, Typhlosion, Lanturn, Xatu, Umbreon, Ursaring, Hitmontop, Blaziken, Beautifly, Ludicolo, Shiftry, Swellow, Pelliper, Hariyama, Swalot, Spinda, Lunatone, Tropius, Huntail, Roserade, Pachurisu, Bronzong, Lumineon, Magmortar, Leafeon, Glaceon, Gliscor, Mamoswine, Porygon-Z, Gallade, Probopass, Dusknoir, Froslass, Rotom(Base form), Serperior, Seismitoad, Whimsicott, Archeops, Zoroark, Cinncino, Gothitelle, Reuniclus, Emolga, Accelgor, Volcorona, Florges, Gogoat, Pangoro, Furfrou, Meowstick, Malamar, Tyrantrum, Sylveon, Hawlucha, Dedene, Carbink, Goodra, Klefki, Trevenant, Gourgiest, Avalugg, Noivern, Decidueye, Incineroar, Primarina, Toucannon, Gumshoos, Vikavolt, Crabominable, Oricorio, Ribombee, all 3 lycanrock, Wishiwashi, Toxapex, Mudsdale, Araquanid, Lurantis, Shiinotic, Salazzle, Bewear, Tsareena, Comfey, Oranguru, Passimian, Golisopod, Pallosand, Pyukumuku, Minior, Komala, Turtonator, togedamaru, Mimikyu, Bruxish, Drampa, Dhelmise, Kommo-o, Barraskewda, Runerigus, Falinks, Pincurchin, Frosmoth, Stonjurner, Eiscue, Indeedee, Morpeko, Copperajah, Dragapult.

No legends or type null line because i didn't think it was fair.

Hope you guys like it!

by
In this tournament, legendary Pokemon might be weaker because there are more noobs posting bad movesets for them.

Team swap tournament
Everyone will make a team, upload to pokepaste, and pass to whoever carries out the tournament. The teams are then distributed randomly to another player.
The player and opponent will not receive either the players team or opponents team so none will know the opposing team. Players will only receive their own team only if necessary. Once you get a team, you will stick with it throughout the tournament. In the finals, the two players will use their own teams. This is to prevent people from making teams that are too weak. Format would be gen8 ou.
This tournament mostly definitely would need improving so please leave comments.

by
Time to screw someone by making a sucky team... Hehe
In the finals, the two players will use their own teams.

J dont sabotage yourself lol
Dang.   Should have read that part XD.

Shared Power Tournament!

The OM Shared Power is very interesting, and I feel like a tour with Shared Power would be very enjoyable.
More information about Shared Power found here.
Rules:

  • National Dex AG format.
  • OM: Shared Power. Once a Pokémon switches in, its ability is shared with the rest of the team.
  • A team can have a maximum of 3 Ubers tier Pokemon, including Mega-Rayquaza.
  • Species Clause.
  • Baton Pass Clause (Yeah those gimmicks are gone!!)

Bans:

  • The following ability and their respected Pokemon cannot be used, and is judged too strong for the meta:
Arena Trap, Contrary, Flare Boost, Fur Coat, Huge Power, Imposter, Innards Out, Libero, Moody, Regenerator, Sand Rush, Sand Veil, Shadow Tag, Simple, Slush Rush, Snow Cloak, Speed Boost, Stakeout, Tinted Lens, Trace, Unburden, Water Bubble.
  • The following Pokemon are banned, as well their abilities: Calyrex-Shadow and Ice (As One), Glastrier, Spectrier (Chiling Neigh, Grim Neigh), Zacian-both formes (Intrepid Sword), Zamazenta-both formes (Dauntless Shield), Regieleki (Transistor), Regidrago (Dragon's Maw), Lugia (Multiscale, Lunala (Shadow Shield), Magearna (Soul Heart), Shedinja (Wonder Guard).

So how's the idea? I need suggestions mostly whether to ban Magic Guard and Magic Bounce. Stall is doomed if it is unbanned! I have allowed only 3 Ubers Pokemon, so should it be completely Ubers allowed or only 3? 3 is chosen so it can be more enjoyable than spamming legends. Also, unlike AG rules, Baton Pass and Species Clause is there.

The Underdogs Tour

Some Pokemon are too strong for OU, but have barely any usage in Ubers and Anything Goes. This tournament focuses on them. All the highly used Pokemon are banned. This is:

Primal Groudon
Mega Rayquaza
Necrozma-Dusk Mane
Ultra Necrozma (Ultra Necrozmium Z is banned.)
Xerneas
Yveltal
Zacian-Crowned (other form is allowed)
Calyrex-Shadow (Ice is allowed)
Arceus (all forms)
Marshadow

The meta can focus on less used Pokemon instead of the same old popular Pokemon. The format is National Dex AG.

Well.... hope you like it!

by
edited by
U-Necrozma isn't very common
I know but it’s still a threat imo although maybe more people disagree so I might change it.
Anything in OU that can stop Primal Kyogre, Zygarde, Marshadow, all Arceus formes, M-Gengar, Kyurem-White, etc ? Primal Kyogre needs Primal Groudon to stop it, Zygarde is unbeatable without Arceus support formes, Marshadow also need Arceus support formes, M-Gengar needs Yveltal, etc. The tour would be unbalanced. Also, @SSuperiotity, U-Necrozma is uncommon due to Yveltal and Zacian-C. If they are gone, there's no stopping them.
Primal Kyogre would rule lol
Alright, I’ll redo the ban list.
I like this idea, partly because Primal Kyogre wouldn’t have many counters

In-Game Competitive Tournament

Imagine that you have just played a game don't care of nature, ability etc, didn't trade, avoided legends to enjoy it more; and suddenly, you think of playing it online using the same team...

It includes rules of what is a good in-game team for ____? questions, along with some additional rules.

Format: Nat Dex OU
Players: 16 to 24 (number can be increase if more generations are introduced.)

Rules:

  • 1 starter is compulsory, and two or more candidates cannot choose the same starter. The starter given will be random, before the candidate starts teambuilding, so mods / organiser / anyone should choose 16 most viable starters according to the current gen.
  • Only one Pokemon per regional dex (to increase diversity). The regional dex of the latest main-series games of a particular region can be considered.
  • No Trade evolutions, Legendaries, Mythicals, Ultra Beasts and Pokemons which can be obtained very late (after 8 gym badges, in other words only obtained just before or after pokemon league). Legendaries viable in current OU and below are:

    1. Heatran
    2. Zapdos, Moltres, Articuno
    3. Diancie and Mega
    4. Latios and Mega, Latias and Mega
    5. Thundurus, Tornadus, Landorus (only therian),
    6. Hoopa
    7. Regigigas, Regieleki, Regidraco, Regice, Regirock, Registeel
    8. Kyurem
    9. Phione & Manaphy
    10. Necrozma
    11. Suicune, Entei, Raikou
    12. Glastrier, Spectrier, Calyrex
    13. Uxie, Merspit, Azelf
    14. Terrakion, Virizion, Cobalion
    15. Type: Null & Sivally.
  • Natures should be neutral since you don't care about the natures in the games (debatable).

  • If the Pokemon doesn't have the latest gen-moveset (if both Bulbapedia and PokemonDB don't have), then the previous gen learnset can be used.
  • Levels should be reduced as rounds complete (for eg. Round 1: lvl 100; Round 2: lvl 60; Round 3: lvl 50; Round 4: lvl 36). This is to increase difficulty level. For example,
    1. Blaziken learns Flare Blitz at lvl 63 (Gen-7). We can't use Flare Blitz Blaziken in round 2.
    2. Garchomp evolves at lvl 48. We can't use Garchomp in Round-4.
  • No Egg Moves (no High Jump Kick on Cinderace)
  • No Hidden Ability (Cinderace can't have Libero as its Ability, Blaziken can't have Speed Boost).

Feel free to suggest anything if it needs improvement :)

"Only 1 HP EV should be assigned to a Pokemon, since games aren't focused on EV training, and we don't know what EVs our Pokemons have gained (debatable)."

I feel you can't make the tour competitive if this kind of restrictions are there. Limiting to non-egg moves and non-HA kinda spoils the fun of competitive, so the tour feels very un-competitive.
Without any difficulty, how can you enjoy competitive?
About the EVs... how about setting the EVs to atleast 25-30 per stat?
And in the required stat, you can put it to maximum (252).
What defines "evolve late"? Why do the levels go down as rounds go on instead of up? That's backwards from a normal playthrough.
To increase difficulty. If levels go up, it would be easier.

Burning Offensive Type Battles!
Up to 20 people. These types of pokemon can only be used:
Dragon
Fighting
Fairy
Ground
These types are probably the most offensive types around and seeing these type of
enslaved Pokemon battle each other can easily ramp up!(Ignore the enslaved part.)
Also the pokemon have to have at least one stat boost move/one stat lowering move.(I like to keep things interesting.)

ZU tourney

We really need some more ZU representation. ZU is an OM that’s the tier below PU. However, because it isn’t commonly played, you have to just choose PU and not use the following:

  • Abomasnow, Absol, Aggron, Arceops, Articuno, Audino, Auroraus, Claydoll, Clefairy, Drampa, Eelectross, Eggugutor-Alola, Feroseed, Floatzel, Gastrodon, Golurk, Gourgeist-Super, Gurdurr, Haunter, Hitmonchan, Kabutops, Khangaskhan, Keckleon, Kingler, Komala, Lanturn, Lilligant, Mesprit, Mudsdale, Oricorio-Sensu, Persia-Alola, Primeape, Pyroar, Raichu-Alola, Regirock, Sableye, Sandslash-Alola, Silvally-Fairy, Sillvaly-Ghost, Skuntank, Spiritomb, Swanna, Stoutland, Togetumaru, Ursaring, Weezing, Zangoose, Raticate-Alola, Carrocosta, Crabominable, Eggegutor, Gorebyss, Jynx, Ludicolo, Musharna, Throh, Turtonator, Type:Null, Victreebell

Here’s the viability rankings and sample teams https://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/zu-om-of-the-month.3629669/

by
ZU exists now? I bet in the next few years Smogon will make another lower tier.

The UUBL tournament.

So UUBL mons tend to be the outcasts that nobody ever uses, and I want to change that with this tour. The whole points is that only UUBL and below are allowed.

Banlist:
- OU and up
- Weavile (debatable)
- OU clauses apply

The Quad (4x) Weakness Tournament

In this special tourney, you can only use Pokémon that have at least 1 quadruple (4x) weakness. At any moment, a wrong match-up could cost you the battle.

Banned Pokémon: Anything that doesn't have a 4x weakness & Ultra Beasts.

But if those were the only banned Pokemon, then everyone would use mega Salamence and battles would be decided based on mega Salamence speed ties.
I'm sure not everyone would use Salamence, and Ice Beam would be helpful against it if they do decide to use it.
Which ice beam user can survive one hit from mega Salamence after 2 or 3 dragon dances?
I don't know.
Then battles will be decided based on mega Salamence speed ties.
They might not. A number of things could happen to Salamence. It could get Frozen, Burned, Paralyzed, Infatuated, or Confused, ruining those Dragon Dances.
This has already been suggested. It’s called the “Always Vulnerable” tourney. It’s in this same thread if you want to see it.
@Guy Which status condition user can survive one hit from mega Salamence after 2 or 3 dragon dances?
@Twineedle The rules aren't exactly the same.
Gee sumwun, are you a detective or something? Because you sure do ask a lot of questions. But here is an answer to the Ice Beam user: https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen7anythinggoes-769779924
I couldn't find any "Always Vulnerable" Tourney.
Is trick room needed to beat mega Salamence? Will players need to use trick room in order to win this tournament?
No, Trick Room was just an example. It all depends on what strategy players will bring to the battles (If this ever gets chosen).
After this my logic gets kind of complicated. I can try to explain it myself or link you to https://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/tiering-policy-framework.3628026/
So the best way I can explain it is that a lot of players, including me, like being able to use "skill" in battle. For example, let's say that mega Salamence can be checked by trick room users. If that was true, then players who use trick room automatically win, and players who don't use trick room automatically lose. The battle's outcome only depends on whether or not the team has trick room, not on "skill". A lot of players also like not having to use "specific checks and counters". If trick room is the only way to beat mega Salamence, then we won't like it. If mega Salamence is the only Pokemon that can be beaten using trick room, then we don't like it either. This comment probably made no sense, but I tried my best.
I think I get it. You guys at Smogon hate people who don't have "skill" and win with "cheat" moves, like Minimize + Baton Pass, so you ban everything you don't like so only the "skilled" players can win. Is that what you're trying to say? If it is, I think I understand. I would do the same thing if somebody forced an endless battle on me too many times. Also, here is a  battle won without Trick Room: https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen7anythinggoes-770104204
Oh hey my comment kind of made sense. As for the replay, that strategy depends heavily on the absence of stealth rock and spikes, and nobody wants to use defog when the opponent can take that turn to switch into mega Salamence.
Ok I'll think of something else.
Something else such as banning mega Salamence?
But banning Mega Salamence would ruin the Tournaments main goal: Use Pokémon with 4x weaknesses. Salamence is one of the Pokémon that fit the criteria.
I thought the tournament was supposed to be fun. I think it would be more fun if mega Salamence was banned.
Okay, then do you also think I should ban commonly used 4x weak Pokémon like Landorus-Therian and Heatran? Or Mega Stones altogether? Since Mega Pinsir and Mega Sceptile can't be used anyway since their base forms aren't 4x weak to anything. I appreciate your feedback.
@Guy, Salamence doesn't have to fight Bastiodon or the Trick Room Pokémon because you can bring 6 Pokémon.
@sumwun, the battles can't be decided on Salamence speed ties because they're not 1-on-1.
@Guy Landorus tends to be much easier to check because it can't use dragon dance and its earth power is weaker than Salamence's double-edge. Heatran is also much easier to check if we're allowed to use Landorus.
@Poipole What's the difference between 1v1 and 6v6 when the other 5 Pokemon get swept by Salamence?
@sumwun, that's only if Salamence finds a Pokémon it can use Dragon Dance against without fainting.
I am not part of this conversation. @sumwun, you can go back to telling Guy to ban Salamence.
@sumwun Isn't Landorus Physical? Why would it use Earth Power? Also, what Poipole brought up, I don't think Salamence could stop a Focus Sash Pokémon. All those Double-Edges would eventually cause you to faint. It couldn't sweep 5 Pokémon unless it used different moves.
Landorus's sheer force makes earth power stronger than earthquake despite its physical attack.
Using focus sashes heavily depends on preventing stealth rock and spikes, and nobody wants to use defog when the opponent's Salamence can switch in and start sweeping. And of course they're not only going to use double-edge. Outrage, earthquake, and roost exist, too.
Okay. The points were made. Since you say Salamence is hard to stop, and I don't want to ban it, then I'll just ban the use of Mega Stones.
Tbh, I don't think mega stones need to banned altogether, just Salamencite. But that's just me.
The solution is simple - ban mega salamence, no additional bans required unless something else is found
The next most broken Pokemon will probably be Zygarde (because it's not on a box) or Pheromosa. Any of those need banning?
@eXcess & PX Mega Stones are banned in this Tourney. Not just because of Salamence, but also because of Mega Altaria, Mega Charizard X, and Mega Gyarados, since they change Types.

@sumwun Pheromosa and Zygarde are banned.
So you're banning anything good? That sounds really boring.
@Pokemon Guy you could ban specific mega stones like Altarianite, or just ban megas that don’t have 4x weaknesses.
@PX There are still plenty of "good" Pokémon left to use.

@eXcess I thought of that, but dissmissed the thought because of Sceptile and Pinsir.
Sceptile and Pinsir are already banned without the mega stone rule.
Okay, but I like the Mega Stone rule.

Birthday Tournament

Rules:
OU rules apply
Only pokemon that learn present or celebrate can be used. Evolutions are allowed. EG: pichu can get present via breeding (im pretty sure it does) so raichu would be allowed
The pokemon you are using must have present/Celebrate in one of their moveslots (debatable)
Lol victini is banned

by

Can you ban Victini? It's the only Pokemon in this tournament that's actually good.
Wait, is Z-Celebrate allowed in this?
Sure i guess. I dont want to ban all the good things
Sorry I just realized that Gyarados and Chansey were both allowed, so I guess Victini isn't that overpowered. Can you un-ban it?
Nah leave it banned
Gyarados checks it pretty easily, and mega Venusaur checks it kind of easily. I don't think it's worth banning.

The Extreme Base Stat Tournament.

Format: Ubers.

Rules: You may only bring Pokémon that have 1, 2, or 3 base stats that are very high and can make a real stat 410 (that's the minimum). Special Pokémon are banned. Also, the Battle Timer must be turned on at all times. Timer stalling is not allowed.

Eligible Pokémon: Blissey, Chansey, Guzlord, Wobbuffet, Wailord, Alomomola, Snorlax, Slaking, Drifblim, Hariyama, Wigglytuff, Kartana, Rampardos, Haxorus, Landorus-(Therian), Rhyperior, Darmanitan, Archeops, Conkeldurr, Buzzwole, Pheromosa, Shuckle, Stakataka, Steelix, Regirock, Avalugg, Aggron, Cloyster, Bastiodon, Onix, Toxapex, Doublade, Registeel, Carbink, Aegislash, Probopass, Torkoal, Skarmory, Golisopod, Lairon, Forretress, Xurkitree, Blacephalon, Thundurus-(Therian), Chandelure, Vikavolt, Regice, Florges, Goodra, Mantine, Ninjask, Electrode, and Accelgor.

Banned Pokémon: All Pokémon that aren't eligible.

by

What do you mean by "make a real stat 410"? And why would you rather put this in AG than Ubers?
@sumwun, "Real stats", what else could I call them (the stats that get raised when you raise your Pokémon's EVs). I picked AG because it's not effected by things Smogon does like bans, which would ruin my tournament because I don't know what Smogon does. When I said 410 was the minimum I meant a Pokémon that has a base stat of 137 (Pheromosa) and you put 252 EVs in that stat and give the Pokémon a nature to raise that stat it'll be 410. And I thought Ubers was for legends and super strong Pokémon? But these are some strong Pokémon.
I sometimes call them "stats after EVs and natures", but I don't know what they're officially called. Also, this is what Smogon does.
[Gen 7] Ubers
Sleep Clause Mod: Limit one foe put to sleep
Species Clause: Limit one of each Pokémon
OHKO Clause: OHKO moves are banned
Moody Clause: Moody is banned
Evasion Moves Clause: Evasion moves are banned
Endless Battle Clause: Forcing endless battles is banned
HP Percentage Mod: HP is shown in percentages
Mega Rayquaza Clause: You cannot mega evolve Rayquaza
(it also bans baton pass, but baton pass isn't in this list) I'm pretty sure most people would rather play with sleep clause and no OHKO moves, so this idea would probably be better if you do it in Ubers.
@sumwun, ok, Ubers has some reasonable rules. But, people could make fake strategies by switching out when their Pokémon falls asleep knowing the Pokémon that comes out can’t be put to sleep even though the real game doesn’t work that way. I edited my tournament.
The people on Smogon who came up with that rule were probably thinking the fake strategy was a better alternative to spamming spore all the time.
Just to help you guys, the base stat must be either 139 or higher than 139 for it to be 410 or above (fully invested)
Why are things like black Kyurem and Hoopa not allowed?

Karate Tournament
Tier: OU

Number Of People: 16

How to play: Each player will have a team of 6 Pokemon, and each Pokemon must have at least 2 moves that have to do with MMA. For example I could have a Hitmonchan with Fire Punch and Ice Punch for my MMA moves. The last 2 moves can be anything that is not banned.

What is a MMA move? MMA moves will have something that has to do with any type of martial art, since MMA stands for Mixed Marital Art. All the moves that have "punch", "slam", "roll", "protect", "detect", "Kick", "Throw", "Combat", "Submission", "Flying Press", and "Sky Uppercut" in their names are all MMA moves. Tell me if you think there is a move that should also a MMA move.

Banned Moves: Special moves, Moves that dont' have anything to do with MMA

Banned Mons Legends and Mythical's. Hawlucha is currently pending since it has a pretty good advantage against move of the other mons in this tournament being flying. Medicham is also pending for the same reason as Hawlucha

Banned Items: Mega Stones and Z-Crystals

by
edited by
What counts as an 'MMA' move? its quite vague and opinionated
Hmmm.... What about a move that has like "Chop" "Punch" "Kick" in its name?
Medicham without mega is pretty useless IMO
It is pending
So are all physical fighting-type moves allowed?

The Smogon Set Tournament!

It's an OU Tournament, but you may only use the sets listed on Smogon when you click the "export" button. For instance, these are the sets for Landorus-Therian in OU:

Draft Tourney

Basically, you choose two different pokemon from each smogon tier/OM other than anything above OU and below PU. (OU, UU, RU, NU, PU) No one else can pick the pokemon you choose, and people who choose their pokemon first will be chosen in a random order.

I think this tourney is Gen 7 for now until Smogon has a stabilized Gen 8 PU tier.

Rules:
OU/Showdown clauses
Save replays

I think most people on this site can't check every day, which will make the drafts take a long time. Maybe you can skip people if they don't comment within a certain number of hours.

This Tournament involves everyone's l̶e̶a̶s̶t̶ favorite Pokemon trainer, T̶r̶a̶s̶h̶ ̶K̶e̶t̶c̶h̶u̶p̶ Ash Ketchum!

Regional Ash Tournament

  • 8 Participants
  • Each one will have a choice of becoming:
  1. Kanto Ash (Indigo League s1)
  2. Johto Ash (Indigo League s2)
  3. Advanced Ash (Pkmn Advanced, all seasons)
  4. Sinnoh Ash (D/P Anime, all seasons)
  5. Unova Ash (Best Wishes, all seasons)
  6. Kalos Ash (X/Y and X/Y/Z)
  7. Alola Ash (S/M, all seasons)
  8. Journeys Ash (Journeys, all seasons)

Rules

You would choose which Ash to become when signing up. First come, first serve.
Then, for Teambuilding, each Ash would have a choice of any of the Pokemon Ash had in that season[s] of the Anime. For example, Alola Ash would be able to Choose from:

  1. Pikachu
  2. Rowlet
  3. Incineroar
  4. Lycanrock (Dusk)
  5. Melmetal
  6. Naganadel
  7. Solgaleo

They would be able to choose from any of the moves that the Pokemon had during that arc, even if that Pokemon didn't have them at the same time (So Pikachu could have either Electro Ball or Electroweb, or both).
You can choose the Abilities and Items, though. As another rule, each team must have Pikachu on it, as that is Ash's first and signature Pokemon.

Use this link to help you figure out which Pokemon you are allowed to use.

Sticky Web was never used in the anime though, was it?
dont think so, haven watched best wishes in a while for obvious reasons
I’ve watched it on Hulu, and not all of the episodes but I’m almost certain that Sticky Web is not used by Ash’s team.
oh that's a stupid rule
but that's the entire point...
