Meta-PokéBase Q&A

Decided to make a new thread myself for this so I can get the responses via email. Here you can report any minor errors with the main site instead of starting a lot of new questions. Things you can report here include:

  • Spelling/grammar errors.
  • Incorrect data (e.g. Pokemon with the wrong abilities listed, moves with the wrong power/type and so on).
  • Missing pictures (sprites, icons and artwork).

As I fix the errors, the answers will be hidden. Try and keep comments to a minimum to avoid clogging up the page, stick to important things like additions/corrections to the corrections.

Remember, small corrections only! If you're reporting something more substantial than a missing picture or incorrect data, please make a new thread!

Please, post corrections as ANSWERS, not comments. Thanks :)

When asking a question on pokebase that should be put in the rmt section, it calls it the battle subway, not its new updated name.

In the Pikachu sprite list it says the Partner Cap is the Johto Cap.

by
*faceslap* I meant on pokemon db
I know that. I didn't realize that you were talking about the Pokemon Home sprites. In the Gen 6 sprites, it's correctly labeled as the partner cap. I thought you were saying it should be labeled as the Johto cap. Sorry about that.

On the Route 17 encounters for the Alola games, for the first block of Sos encounters, the percentage of Castform appearing in the rain just says 1, with no percentage. The next block of Sos encounters says 1%.

This page says that Blue-Striped Basculin doesn't learn Surf, Waterfall & Dive. But it actually does according to this.

Reshiram's page states under "location" it is not in XY/ORAS. While it's true that it isn't in XY, many legendaries like Reshiram are available in the post-game. Not only should the XY/ORAS tag be split, but Reshiram is available exclusively in Omega Ruby and Zekrom exclusively in Alpha Sapphire. The only requirement is to have a level 100 Pokemon in your team before its ring appears.

I suspect many legendary Pokemon in the post-game are not properly noted in their locations data, so it may pay to look through them closely. Serebii has accurate info on which is which.

the ability schooling needs to be updated
it says,
"Schooling changes Wishiwashi into its School Form, if its HP is above 25% and Wishiwashi is at least level 20. If its HP falls below 25%, Wishiwashi will revert back to Solo Form.

Schooling cannot be removed or replaced via moves like Skill Swap or the Mummy ability."

the following sentence should be added to it
"Schooling cannot be copied by Trace, Power of Alchemy, or Receiver."

and the ability trace needs to updated
it says,
"The Pokémon copies a foe's Ability."

the following sentence needs to be added to it
"Trace cannot copy Trace, Forecast, Flower Gift, Multitype, Illusion, Zen Mode, Imposter, Stance Change, Power of Alchemy, Receiver, Schooling, Comatose, Shields Down, Disguise, RKS System, Battle Bond or Power Construct."

Dig and Earthquake in their Changes section should mention that a Pokemon using Dig can not be hit by Earthquake in Gen I, but was changed in Gen II allowing Earthquake, Fissure and Magnitude to hit a Pokemon using dig.

Also, Dig's Base Power was changed from 60 to 80 in Gen IV which isn't mentioned.

This post collects errors posted by people who made a new thread instead of answering here. (The new threads are closed, but will be linked here.)

  • 12/21: Inner Focus description needs an update, as from Gen 8 it also prevents the dropping of Attack from Intimidate. Source confirming the missing information [original report]
  • 10/22: Nihilego, Stakataka and Blacephalon have incorrect regional dex numbers (relevant Serebii page) [original report]

Sorry, I did indeed forget to mention a missing pokemon on the Pokemon Go PokeDex. That being Douse Drive Genesect.
That's fine -- you can make your own posts here if you have new errors to report.
Sounds great!
Would you mind if I posted future minor errors here in this comments list or would you prefer if they were on the main post in general?
@Edensteeden If you ever see any site error, you can post a separate answer.
Some people like to post one answer and edit that answer if they find something new to bring up. I don't know what Pokemaster's preference would be (entirely new answers would give him email notifications, while edits to the same answer wouldn't).
I've fixed a couple of these and removed them from your answer. Sprites are a work in progress... I'm trying to set up a script to more quickly parse and extract new sprites from the Go data.

The Natural Gift page is missing the Roseli, Kee, and Maranga Berries. According to Serebii, they are:

Roseli - Fairy type, 80 BP
Kee - Fairy type, 100 BP
Maranga - Dark, 100 BP

There are a few Pokemon, such as Monferno, that are missing their gen 8 icon/menu sprites. I'm guessing this is every Pokemon that was added to gen 8 after the original SwSh (ie. added in expansion pass or BDSP), but I haven't checked every Pokemon to confirm this guess.

Defiant and competitive activate anytime an opponent lowers the ability user's stats, not only when they use stat-lowering moves.

by
Calyrex and Garchomp (Who became available through the expansion pass) has its Gen 8 menu sprite, so I think it's just BDSP Pokemon.
Heracross was added in the expansion pass, and it still doesn't have its new menu sprite.

In Route 1 (Alola) - South the USUM Rattata is the default version, not the Alolan version. I've taken a screenshot of the page and added it down below with the main parts highlited.

https://pokemondb.net/evolution/stone

The Galarica Cuff, Galarica Wreath, Tart Apple, Sweet Apple, Cracked Pot, and Chipped Pot are not stones, and thus Galarian Slowpoke, Galarian Slowbro, Galarian Slowking, Applin, Flapple, Appletun, Sinistea, and Polteageist shouldn't be on this page.

by
Good spot. It currently displays any evolution where you use an item (specifically use rather than hold). Before gen 8 that was always evo stones. I should probably rename the page.
Good to know, thanks for responding!

In Red, Blue and Yellow, Self-Destruct has a BP of 130 and has the same "targets defence is halved during damage" effect from Gen 1-4, but neither of which is shown in the move page, which may end up confusing people (and in fact, confused me at first) into thinking that Explosion has lower base power than Selfdestruct in Gen 1.

I'm pretty sure RB & Y mechanics are similar? The sim counts everything in RB and Y as the same, too.
Bulbapedia just says that the BP is 130 in Gen 1, so I wasn't entirely sure if it was talking about RBY or just RB.
When Bulbapedia says something is true in gen 1, that means it's true in all 3 of the gen 1 games.

The Low Kick and Grass Knot pages are missing Gen 8 mons (as well as Melmetal) that weigh 200 or more kg, the Pokemon that weight this much are Zamazenta (Both forms), Zacian (Crowned form), Dracovish, Stonjourner, Copperajah, Melmetal, Gastrier, Calyrex (Ice Rider) and Eternatus.
It's also missing Kommo-o totem form and Araquanid's totem form, but I have no idea if those count too.

Swarm has no effect on the wild Pokemon encounter chance.

I think this would be a better source.

If you look at the Bulbapedia page's history, you can see that it cites the same code dump that I cite in this answer.

Rotom’s page, on the type effectiveness chart, says Ground doesn’t affect Rotom. While this is true, since abilities aren’t in Legends Arceus, ground types now can hit Rotom.

by
Haunter and Gastly, the Chimecho line, the Mismagius line, Uxie, Azelf, Mesprit Carnivine, Cresselia, and Giratina origin form can now be hit by Ground moves in PLA too due to there being no abilities.

When using the old type chart option for the "Pokémon attack type coverage tool" it doesn't change any Pokémon's types back to what they where prior to gen 6, just removing the fairy type from them, making most of those Pokémon have incorrect type match-ups. As well, I don't see any reason why it will still check against gen 6+ Pokémon when this mode is only applicable to Pokémon found in gens 2-5.
