Flare's 'MONO ARCEUS' Tournament! [WON BY sUMWUN]

Question

Introduction

This is actually the first time I've hosted a tournament as well, I hope it goes well! So, this is the Mono Arceus Tournament! That means only Arceus and all of different type. This tournament was suggested by Flare.

• Teams consist of 6 Arceus
• All Arceus must be different type
• Arceus-Normal is BANNED
• Both Plates and Z-Crystals can be used
• Standard Smogon clauses and rules apply (except maybe the Species Clause)
• To be played in Anything Goes (sorry I'm being confusing I'll be better next time)

How to participate

Signing up means committing to playing. If you sign up, you must be prepared to play each of your games. Failure to do so results in disqualification. Check this thread regularly, at least once a week. This tour will progress quickly.

Communicate with your matched opponent through comments on this thread and on each other's walls. If a game is not played whoever made the most attempt to play the game is given the win. If neither can be said to make effort, both will be disqualified

Sign up by posting an answer in this thread! Feel free to make it look nice and be witty, but include the following information: Pokemon Showdown! username(s) and Timezone

For example:

Showdown name: Fresher Than You

Sign ups close 6 PM Friday (Feb 2nd) GMT+0

Rules & guidelines

Note: This will have to be played in a Anything Goes. Please use legal EVs and moves. We will be able to find out if you're using an illegal set.

Basic rules that will be forever reiterated:

• Single elimination best of one brackets
• Battles are to be held on the Pokemon DB Showdown! server
• Spectators cannot influence player's descions, and players cannot accept outside help. If you break this rule you may not be allowed to compete in the future.

Wait how do you know you're expected to do a match? Is there some sort off chat?

If you sign up, you'll be randomly matched with an opponent in the elimination tournament. Your matchup, as well as everyone else's, will be posted here after signups close -- hence why participants should check this thread regularly. You'll be expected to battle with the person you got matched against so the tourney can progress.

Also, why are you making the signups close so quickly? Some people don't check this site all that often but still want to sign up.

I wanted to start the battles on the monday so we can get this going, but if we don't have many sign ups I'll extend it. I'm pretty lenient when it comes to deadlines right now purely for the sake of trying things out and seeing what's best.

Standard smogon clauses bans double team under evasion right? I'll put it in the OP anyway.

We don't need custom game to play this tournament. We can just use Anything Goes, which automatically bans stuff like level 9999 Pokemon and Pokemon with 24 moves. Also, Leppa berries are already banned, so I don't think we need to explicitly ban PP stalling.

@Ammeter if you finish a game on Showdown it should give you the option to upload your replay. If it's not working, then there's a problem with Showdown's servers at the moment and it should be resolved in due time -- but as far as I can tell, it should be working right now. A good idea for that would be to post an answer here with the matchups and BA it for visibility. Traditionally we’ve just edited the OP but it might not be the best way.

I was planning to post match ups that way Fizz, I extended the deadline but if we feel like we want to start this now I'm all for it. I'll leave it a few hours for a response from you guys - I want everyone to have a say in how this is run. This is for you after all. If the deadline is too short or too long then tell me.

Legal EVs means whatever is possible in the game without hacks or exploits. You can definitely have more than 3 EVs in-game. You can have a maximum of 510 EVs in total and a maximum of 252 EVs in each stat. Those are the only limitations.

Looks like we're facing each other first. I'm going to be busy soon, and I don't know exactly when I'm going to get another opening, but around 8-10 my time (9-11 yours) should probably work for me later today. If today doesn't work, then I'm not going to be open at all tomorrow, but I'll be free the entire afternoon on Sunday. Just tell me what'll work for you.

Can you do weekday afternoons? That would honestly be the best time for me, from like 3-7 my time, which would be 2-6 yours. If that's not ideal, I can try for Sunday afternoon like you said, but I'm not sure how well it will work out

I'm not going to have any time on Wednesday or Thursday, but I could make any time past 4:30 (5:30 for you) work on Tuesday and Friday, if you can't spare any time today. Normally I wouldn't have any time on Monday either, but it's looking like I might have the day off; I'll check back in here tomorrow and confirm whether that's actually happening.

Answers are better since it allows people to post on each other's signups to arrange matches -- so it's good for organisation. It also keeps the thread at the top of all the navigation lists while signups are open. It's also how we've done it in the past which seemed to work.
