There might be better sets for Ferrothorn, but most sets here include Leech Seed and hazards. So this is a little different.

Ferrothorn @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 120 HP / 252 Atk / 8 Def / 128 SpD
Adamant / Brave Nature
- Power Whip
- Shadow Claw
- Bulldoze / Gyro Ball
- Swords Dance

Power Whip Strong STAB.
Shadow Claw Good move.
Bulldoze Is good if some sort of steel type comes in, Gyro Ball STAB.
Swords Dance Nice boosting move.

Use curse instead of Swords dance to make gyro ball faster

Sub-seeder.

ferrothorn
Ferrothorn @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 128 Def / 128 SpD
Impish Nature
- Thunder Wave
- Substitute
- Leech Seed
- Power Whip

This guy is a pain in the rear end. First you Paralyze them with Thunder Wave to cut their Speed and chances off hitting you. This gives you a chance to set up Substitute to block damage and Leech Seed for healing and damaging. Power Whip is STAB. Between Rocky Helmet and Iron Barbs, any foe that tries to physically hit Ferrothorn will lose tons of HP, not to mention damage from Leech Seed.

You could also go fast sub-seed if you really want to. Just swap T-wave for Rock-polish and/or give it Jolly nature and put some EVs in Speed. Also if you give it Jolly and T-wave you may want to swap Powe Whip for Iron Head for some annoying Para-flinch.

This version is meant to be a setup for a sweepers. The idea is pulling off both Stealth Rock and Spikes and do a lot of damage after doing so.

Ferrothorn @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Def
Impish / Brave Nature
- Ingrain / Leech seed
- Spikes
- Stealth Rock
- Explosion / Power Whip / Gyro Ball

Ingrain / Leech seed - I prefer Ingrain because of its field presence
Explosion is just for the fast damage, PW will help against a lot of the Rapid Spinners (except Forretress) and Gyro Ball is a good STAB move.

Ferrothorn
Ferrothorn @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 128 Atk / 252 Def / 128 SpD
Relaxed Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Leech Seed
- Gyro Ball
- Power Whip / Toxic

Very self explanatory. Haven't seen this particular one so I decided to post it. Power Whip works fine but I started to use Toxic lately. Both work really nicely, its your choice.

Stealth Tock

Ferrothorn @ Rocky Helmet / Occa Berry
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 204 Atk / 102 Def / 102 SpD
Sassy Nature
- Power Whip
- Gyro Ball / Iron Head
- Ingrain / Bulldoze
- Curse

Curse can power up Gyro Ball a lot, but if you want to go for a Steel STAB move that has more PP, choose Iron Head. Ingrain helps you recover HP and the Rocky Helmet with Iron Barbs makes you pretty dangerous to touch. :D If you're scared from the 4× Fire weakness, go with Occa Berry and Bulldoze. However, it might weaken Gyro Ball's power.

WARNING: This set sucks against a Pokemon with Taunt.
Role: Wall

Ferrothorn @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 128 Def / 128 SpD
Careful Nature
- Toxic
- Leech Seed
- Ingrain
- Protect

  • Toxic: Stall them to death
  • Leech Seed: Heal yourself while destroying them
  • Ingrain: Heal yourself
  • Protect: So the opponent takes Toxic and Leech Seed damage, and you heal from Ingrain and Leech Seed, all without being hit.

Protect would we way better than rest, because The opponent would take poison damage and leech seed damage and you would heal health with leech seed and Ingrain, and you would be fully protected that turn
That's a good idea. I'll switch them.

Ferrothorn
CHOICE BAND FERROTHORN! They'll never expect it!

Ferrothorn @ Choice Band
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 HP / 4 SpD
Brave Nature
IVs: 0 Spe

  • Power Whip
  • Gyro Ball
  • Knock Off
  • Explosion / Spikes

Power Whip is strong STAB, Gyro Ball there since with 0 Speed IVs and a Brave Nature it becomes very strong STAB, even against Stall teams which use slower mons like Chansey. Knock off is an amazing move that cripples switch-ins, you can use Choiced Explosion as soon as you switch in to blow a massive hole in the enemy team (if only it still cut defense in half), Spikes aren't actually that bad with Choice items since they go up to 3 layers, unlike most status moves which fail after being used in rapid succession, like Toxic, Encore, Taunt, Stealth Rock, Substitute, Protect, etc...

Sick of Magnezone coming in for free and incinerating your Ferrothorn with Hidden Power Fire? Use Shed Shell Ferrothorn!

Gen 5 OU

Ferrothorn @ Shed Shell
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Leech Seed
- Stealth Rock
- Power Whip
- Knock Off

The moveset itself is pretty self-explanatory. Heal with Leech Seed while causing residual damage, set hazards with Stealth Rock, smack the many water types in the tier with Power Whip, and remove items with Knock Off (note that Knock Off only has 20 BP in Gen 5, so it's more of a utility move). What's different about this set is the item: Shed Shell.

A tough, discarded carapace to be held by a Pokémon. It enables the holder to switch with a waiting Pokémon in battle.

Basically, it allows Ferrothorn to escape from Magnezone despite its Magnet Pull ability. This also comes with surprise factor, since the opponent won't know that your Ferrothorn is holding a Shed Shell (unless you lose it to a Trick or Knock Off). You could use this opportunity to swap in your own Magnezone and trap an opposing Magnezone back, or set weather by swapping to Politoed, Tyranitar, or Ninetales. Speaking of weather, Ferrothorn fits really well on rain teams thanks to the rain cutting it's fire weakness in half, and being able to swap into grass and electric type attacks.

I think he could be a nice status Pokemon,

Ferrothorn (M) @ Leftovers / Rocky Helmet
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 104 HP / 252 Def / 152 SpD
Impish Nature
- Thunder Wave / Toxic
- Leech Seed / Ingrain
- Gyro Ball
- Curse

(Leftovers for extra health, Rocky Helmet for big damage when touched) - physical/sp tank

  • Thunder Wave / Toxic (Toxic recommended for single battles)
  • Leech Seed / Ingrain (health gain)
  • Gyro Ball (for damage once setup is done)
  • Curse (stats)

How can you get it to learn leech seed?

Here is Ferroseed. A spikey Pokemon. you can tell from the sprite s/he is Rowdy, but it has a Relaxed Nature -__-

Ferroseed @ Eviolite
Ability: the only possible... Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
IVs: 0 Spe
Relaxed Nature (+Def -Spe)
~ Curse
~ Gyro Ball
~ Spikes / Stealth Rock
~ Leech Seed / Stealth Rock
Seed gets A-M-A-Z-I-N-G bulk from Eviolite but lacks Leftovers recovery. If you run Leech Seed, however, you can recover from that. Spikes and Rocks help you sweep better. Curse + Gyro Ball + Horrid Speed + 0 Ivs in speed = lots and lots of KOs!

Ferrothorn @ Rocky Helmet

Trait: Iron Barbs

EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Def / 4 HP

Brave Nature (+Atk, -Spd)

  • Power Whip
  • Payback
  • Curse
  • Gyro Ball

Power Whip Great STAB Without Side Effects
Payback Coverage Dealing x2 Damage due to Speed.
Curse Raises Attack / Defense & Lowers Speed
Gyro Ball 1 Hit K.O. After Curse

This build is a Combo between a Physical Wall and a Physical Sweeper. By using curse your Defense and Offense go up as your Speed goes down. Gyro Ball, the slower the user, the greater the damage. As you gain power and prepare you not only can take physical hits, you bounce alot of damage back with the Rocky Helmet / Iron Barbs combo.

-Thunder Wave
This Ferrothorn is a lead. T-Waves and sets up Stealth Rock. Power Whip is for damage and Leech Seed is for healing.

Trait: Iron Barbs
EVs: 56 HP / 252 Atk / 72 Def / 128 SDef
IVs: 0 Spd
Brave Nature (+Atk, -Spd)
- Power Whip
- Gyro Ball
- Explosion
- Aerial Ace / Shadow Claw / Payback

Power Whip for STAB.
Gyro Ball for STAB and 0 IVs, Brave Nature meaning its super powerful.
Explosion for killing everything when the job is done.
Aerial Ace is for hitting everything, Shadow Claw for coverage or Payback for making use of this terrible speed.

Ah, Ferrothorn, how much I love you...

Ferrothorn @ Leftovers
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Spikes / Thunder Wave / Toxic
- Leech Seed
- Protect

Stealth Rock is basically a given on Ferrothorn, if it's not Banded/All Out Attack, it has Stealth Rock. Spikes is also very helpful to get all the hazards up with one Pokémon, but can be replaced by Thunder Wave to help piss off opponents, or Toxic to take them down twice as quick with Leech Seed wracking up damage. Leech Seed is double the recovery, paired with Leftovers. Finally, Protect is used to scout out moves, get four times the healing if you have Leech Seed set up, stall out Toxic damage if you have Toxic on the set, give them another chance to get fully paralyzed if you have Thunder Wave on the set, and just stall out PP. Probably the second most useful move, next to Stealth Rock.

This was a mouthful, or rather, a typeful, but I hope it helped you out!

TR Wall/Sweeper Ferrothorn

Ferrothorn @ Iron Ball / Leftovers
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Def
Brave Nature
- Seed Bomb / Power Whip
- Gyro Ball
- Stealth Rock / Iron Head
- Curse

Seed Bomb/Power Whip for STAB (Seed Bomb for reliability, Power Whip for power), Gyro Ball for STAB and low speed, Stealth Rock for hazard setup, Iron Head for another STAB move or against a slow opponent (Stealth Rock for a wall, Iron Head for a sweeper), and Curse boosts Attack, Defense and Gyro Ball. Since this is for a TR team, Curse actually makes you move first. You would need to rely on switching out on a singles team, as Ferrothorn cannot learn TR.

Role: Trick Room sweeper

Ferrothorn @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 Atk / 100 Def / 156 SpD
Brave Nature
- Power Whip
- Iron Head
- Toxic
- Explosion

First, use Toxic to wear them away (not needed if the opponent is weak to Grass or Steel), then you can use Iron Head and Power Whip until the opponent faints. When you get on low on HP, use Explosion. This will probably not be necessary, however, as the Rocky Helmet and Iron Barbs combo will make the opponent lose 1/4 of their health when hit, and Toxic will kill them off pretty quickly. Remember, only for use as a Trick Room Pokemon, as it is not very good otherwise.

Hope I Helped

Ferrothorn @ Leftovers
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD or 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Gyro Ball
- Leech Seed
- Protect
- Curse / Stealth Rock

  • Gyro Ball-Got to love that 100-150 power in most cases.
  • Leech Seed-you can take on even fire types if you have seeded them.
  • Protect-to get healing from leftovers and leechseed
  • Curse / Stealth Rock-your choice.... I do curse so that my curse damage is at max always plus I get an attack and defense boost I mean what else can I ask for.but stealth rocks are great if you go against alot of fire types/flying types.

I love this Pokemon it is very powerful.

Such an annoying Pokemon. That's why I love it so much. <3

HUG ME PLS (Ferrothorn) @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Impish Nature
- Knock Off
- Toxic
- Leech Seed
- Block

Knock Off = no item = no recovery. Toxic + Leech Seed = painful residual damage. Block = no escape.
Watch as your opponent screams as their Pokemon's life is slowly drained away by a spiky metal octopus plant.

Truly horrifying.

Ferrothorn is my favorite Pokemon to use competitively. However, the set I use is just a little bit different...

Ferrothorn

Ferrothorn @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Curse
- Gyro Ball
- Rest
- Sleep Talk

Just look at that. The power. I can't even. 252 Atk Landorus-T Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Ferrothorn: 106-126 (30.1 - 35.7%) -- 33.7% chance to 3HKO
(106, 108, 109, 109, 111, 112, 114, 115, 117, 117, 118, 120, 121, 123, 124, 126). 4 Atk Ferrothorn Gyro Ball (150 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Landorus-T: 169-199 (52.9 - 62.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
(169, 171, 172, 175, 177, 178, 181, 183, 184, 187, 189, 190, 193, 195, 196, 199). Curse boosts your defense. They're getting recoil from iron barbs + Rocky helmet helmet most of the time. Rest + sleep talk gives you infinite recovery. Curse also boosts the power of gyro ball twice, making the infamous "curseball" combo. And it's immune to toxic. And if it gets burned, rest nullifies it. And if it gets parahaxed, it's just boosting gyro ball even more. And it's immune to the most accurate sleep moves. Just... Just... Just brilliant. The typing, the ability, the stats, the moves... It all stacks on to create the ultimate physical wall.

Ferrothorn @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 128 Def / 128 SpD
Brave Nature
- Gyro Ball
- Curse
- Leech Seed
- Toxic

  • Gyro Ball - STAB and useful with low Speed
  • Curse - While it raises Attack and Defense, the Speed lowering also boosts Gyro Ball's power
  • Leech Seed - Sucks the life from your foes
  • Toxic - Can really hurt opponents overtime

This set can take away a BUNCH of health from your opponents. Iron Barbs and Rocky Helmet? Okay, typical health eliminator. Toxic? A little more health taken away. Leech Seed? Now THAT's a lot of health the opponents can lose. Plus, Ferrothorn can take a little bit of health every turn. And then Gyro Ball is already pretty powerful, but combine that with Curse and your Defense and Gyro Ball's power will rise! I use this set pretty often, and it's great if you want to use a bulky Pokemon.
