If you run Hypnosis, Compound Eyes is a very good ability, witch gives moves 30% more accuracy, is deadly.
Yanmega doesn’t get compound eyes unfortunately

Yanmega (M) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Tinted Lens
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Air Slash
- Bug Buzz
- Giga Drain
- Hidden Power [Ground]

This guy hits everything hard with Bug Buzz and Air Slash. Who needs Speed Boost, just get rid of everything that outspeeds you and sweep from there. Even if they send in a Pokemon to resist your move you are locked into you will still 2HKO 99.9% of the time. Giga Drain and HP Ground are coverage.

(Thanks Mew for the item and the idea for HP Ground and the 4 Def thingy :P)

Where's my creds?
And 4 Def > 4 HP to stop SR from killing you in 2 switchins.
:O i never thought of that
hey i think no one will attack opponent with not very effective move, so speed boost is better
1. You can't avoid using "not very effective" moves in competitive play because human opponents switch their Pokemon to resist incoming attacks.
2. Tinted Lens means 0.5x attacks return to 1x, which means you can use attacks as though the resistance doesn't exist. Yanmega then becomes harder to switch into, which is precisely the point of using a Specs set.

Yanmega @ Leftovers
Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 128 HP / 128 Def / 128 SpA / 124 Def
Timid Nature
- Bug Buzz
- Air Slash
- Ancient Power
- Giga Drain

Bug Buzz - STAB, strong, accurate, may lower SDef
Air Slash - STAB, strong, quite accurate
AncientPower - coverage, may boost everything
Giga Drain - coverage, accurate, recovery

But Protect is needed for a free speed boost
Yanmega has cool speed anyway. Speed Boost is only insurance of sweeping
It's 95,which isn't that fast,so you need a free speed boost so you can out-run your opponents
95 is quite good - although many ubers are really fast

Format: VGC

Yanmega
Buzkill (Yanmega) @ Life Orb
Ability: Speed Boost / Tinted Lens
EVs: 4 HP / 228 Def / 252 SpA / 24 Spe
Modest Nature
- Bug Buzz
- Hidden Power [Ice] / Hidden Power [Ground]
- Swagger / Giga Drain / Air Slash / Ancient Power
- Detect / Protect

My prefered moves are in bold

This set is more for VGC than anything else. It's a "bulky set" if Yanmega was ever bulky. 228 Def 4 HP lets it survive an Adamant 252 Atk Landourus-T's Rock Slide in Doubles. Hidden Power [Ice] is for Salamence, Landourus-T and for Garchomp for easy OHKOs. Life orb ensures a chance to 68.8% chance OHKO Bisharp. Otherwise I would like to run Detect to avoid getting imprisoned in double battles, losing the ability to Protect with this guy would be catastrophic as his bulk is quite limited.

Swagger is prefered for me, just because Swagger can be used to play games with your opponent, as Confusion + the chance to flinch with Bug Buzz could change the outcome of the game. If you can, you can run Air SLash instead for STAB, or Ancient Power to do massive damage to Charizard and possibly Talonflame that don't OHKO you (its a 50% chance to OHKO Yanmega with Brave Bird if you are not Life Orb Talonflame). And Yanmega can 2HKO Cresselia with Bug Buzz without issue as Ice Beam from it will only do about half.

Bug Buzz can't flinch, that's Air Slash.

National Dex Monotype (Bug)

Yanmega @ Throat Spray / Heavy Duty Boosts
Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Bug Buzz
- Air Slash
- Giga Drain
- Psychic / Protect

Bug Buzz is STAB. Air Slash is also STAB. Giga Drain is for coverage and is for healing. Psychic is also for coverage. Protect can be used instead to allow you to gain a free turn for Speed Boost to activate. Throat Spray can be an item to use on this set if you want to raise your special attack 1 stage after you use Bug Buzz. Heavy Duty Boots is another option so Yanmega won't get hurt by Stealth Rock.

Haha you’re going crazy with these move set posts Porygon.
nice item choice

Yanmega (F) @ Weakness Policy

Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Endure
- Bug Buzz
- Giga Drain
- Hidden Power [Fire]

Endure + Weakness Policy boost + Speed Boost makes Yanmega a huge threat. Bug Buzz is there for STAB while Giga Drain is there for coverage and restores health. HP Fire is for other Bug Types, Ice Types, and Steel Types that Yanmega can't touch with Bug Buzz and Giga Drain. Just watch out for priority moves and pesky Fire Types that can take Yanmega out.

Hope this helps! (:

try Air Slash over Giga Drain (coverage STAB), and HP Ground over fire (more coverage). other than that, this set is great, i use on 1v1 with about 50% success rate.

- Hidden Power [Ground]
- Air Slash
- Bug Buzz / Silver Wind

Air Slash - STAB

Bug Buzz / Silver Wind - Power or lucky stat boost

Here is a moveset I recommend for Yanmega:
Yanmega
Yanmega @ Choice Specs
Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 32 Def / 252 SpA / 224 Spe
Modest Nature
- Bug Buzz
- Air Slash
- Giga Drain
- Ominous Wind

This moveset uses Yanmega as a head-on Sweeper. The first two are chosen STAB since they are the most powerful. Giga Drain covers its 4x weakness to Rock-types so it can get a recovery as well. Ominous Wind is chosen coverage since it's still weak to Flying Types. Note, Rapid Spin support is needed for it to fully function.

Give it Shadow Ball over Ominous Wind, and HP Rock over Shadow ball.

Yanmega @ Focus Sash
Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Bug Buzz
- Shadow Ball
- Hidden Power [Fighting]
- Protect

1) Bug Buzz (S.T.A.B.)
2) Shadow Ball (Coverage)
3) Hidden Power Fighting (Coverage)
4) Protect

Notes: Use Protect on the 1st turn to outspeed most everything and to negate "Fake Out".
Ghost / Fighting is full coverage in only 2 attacks along with Bug Buzz this allows you to have an effective movepool.

Gen VI

Yanmega @ Insect Plate / Silver Powder
Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Bug Buzz
- Air Slash
- Ancient Power
- Protect

Moveset:
Bug Buzz: STAB, main power source.
Air Slash: STAB, back-up power source.
Ancient Power: Coverage against Fire, Ice, and Flying weakness. Also chance to boost stats.
Protect: Makes sure you get off speed boost and to trick your opponent once in awhile.

Yanmega @ Expert Belt
Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Bug Buzz
- Air Slash
- Giga Drain / Hidden Power [Electric]
- Protect / Detect

Moveset:
Bug Buzz: STAB
Air Slash: Chance to flinch + STAB
Giga Drain / HP Electric: Deals with Vaporeon and Donphan, two huge walls in UU and gives Yanmega reliable health recovery / Perfect coverage
Protect / Detect: Gives the first and Speed Boost, which is necessary because it is not fast enough because of the Modest Nature making Speed cap at 289

Expert Belt, because Life Orb puts it on timer.
The Modest Nature is necessary, since Yanmega does not hit hard enough without the Life Orb

Yanmega (M)
Item: Weakness Policy
Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Protect (Cuz of the Speed Boost)
- Bug Buzz (Good bug type move)
- Air Slash (Good flying type move)
- Ancient Power (Great attack since its weak to ice fire and flying)

Yanmega @ Choice Specs
Ability: Tinted Lens
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
= Bug Buzz
- Air Slash
- Giga Drain
- Psychic / Ancient Power

Bug Buzz (STAB)
Air Slash (STAB)
Giga Drain (for Rock types)
Psychic (coverage for Nidoqueen and Roserade and others) / Ancient Power (coverage against Ice type, may raise stats)

You know you already cover roserade, right?
Air Slash covers Roserade just fine. This is unnecessary.

Role: Special Sweeper

Yanmega @ Razor Fang
Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 6 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature / Modest Nature
- Giga Drain
- Bug Buzz
- Air Slash
- Ancient Power / Protect

Moves:

Giga Drain: Giga Drain covers rock, Yanmega's biggest weakness. Since Yanmega is super fast, it should be able to attack first. It also has a 10% chance of making the foe flinch (due to Razor Fang).
Bug Buzz: STAB, and has chance of lowering opponents Sp. Defense. Had a 10% of making the foe flinch (due to Razor Fang).
Air Slash: STAB, and has a 30% of making the opponent flinch, 40% if it holds the Razor Fang, which those odds sound pretty good to me.
Ancient Power or Protect: Ancient Power has a chance to increase all stats at once by one stage. Protect will give you a free speed boost, and you won't take any damage Ancient Power has a 10% of making the foe flinch (due to Razor Fang).

Due to Razor Fang and Ancient Power relying on rng to be good, you shouldn't be running them. It's usually better to deal extra damage, so life orb is usaully a superior item. Protect is fine.

Yanmega @ Choice Specs
Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature

- Giga Drain
- Hidden Power [Ground]
- Bug Buzz
- Ancient Power

Explanation:
Choice Specs can come handy in dealing a ton more damage, Speed Boost will slowly creep your enemy as you get faster every turn. Ancient Power covers Fire-Type, Flying-Type and Ice-Type weakness, Giga Drain is healing, plus Rock-Type Coverage. Hidden Power [Ground] covers Electric-Type weakness and is nice to cover a lot of other types (specifically Steel-Type). Bug Buzz is mandatory stab.

Choice Specs and Speed Boost come in as a nice tandem, the longer you last, the better.

BDSP competitive moveset:

Yanmega @ Choice Band
Ability: Tinted Lens
EVs: 252 Spe / 252 Atk / 4 Def
Timid / Jolly Nature
- U-Turn
- Night Slash / Aerial Ace / Steel Wing
- Night Slash / Aerial Ace / Steel Wing
- Leech Life

I think Yanmega has some potential for a Choice Bander! With Tinted Lens, bad match-ups aren't as important, so hit hard with Leech Life and moves like Night Slash, Aerial Ace, or Steel Wing. Of course, U-Turn for emergencies.

I'm not sure if Yanmega would do well as a Physical attacker, 76 base Attack seems really bad. Ninjask and Scyther could probably run a set much like this one at a better extent.
yeah, thats true. i wish it had a better attack stat.
