OK Beedrill is known as a tragic case of a bug sweeper who never really tried, which is sad since I quite like him on the field of NU. I will go through some things to show off Beedrill in any way I can. hope you enjoy.
Summary; a classic NU bug sweeper that has been around for ages....and still fails to do much, it's really not fit for major battles. Although it seems to become ever so slightly more effective it is still shadowed by most of the NU tier....and most Pokemon otherwise. It's not all bad news, but it still shouldn't be used without a genuine purpose
Pros: although its stats are pretty poor, its attack power isn't too bad and its movepool is actually rather decent.
Cons: poor typing, low stats, loads of counters, KO'ed in a heartbeat, I could go on and on. but I'm not going to, because I'm supposed to be trying to help Beedrills chances.... that's going well...
I created a few movesets to maximize its chances and give you some choice in the matter.
Beedrill @ Life Orb
Ability: Sniper
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Drill Run
- Poison Jab
- X-Scissor / U-turn
- Brick Break / Endeavor
This set is basically a baton pass receiver. Ninjask remains in NU, so if you can this set is made to take advantage of him. Drill run makes sure it's not completely defenseless against fire types. And a mix of other moves will provide a good battle coverage. So, it could be worse.
Beedrill @ Focus Sash
Ability: Swarm
EVs: 208 HP / 150 Atk / 150 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Agility / Swords Dance
- Poison Jab / Toxic Spikes / Toxic
- X-Scissor
- Brick Break/Drill Run
OK so this takes advantage of the fact that it can no longer be KOed instantly. It's your choice out of Agility or Swords Dance. Its EV's look odd but it does help with it trying to last a while.
Beedrill @ Black Sludge
Ability: Swarm
EVs: 208 HP / 70 Atk / 80 SpD / 150 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Toxic Spikes / Toxic
- U-turn / Protect
- Endeavor / Drill run
- Brick Break
This may look odd, but Beedrill is very opportunistic is the right situations. Toxic spikes will make your opponent less willing to switch into something more dangerous, while Toxic +Black Sludge + Protect is pretty good too. The rest is just to make sure it's not countered or walled too easily.
Right that's it. My analysis on Beedrill is complete. I hope this may have helped in deciding if Beedrill is worth it. Hope you like!
